from the

PUBLISHER

Launched in 2017, The KNOW Book + Tribe began as a way to bring more attention to dynamic women doing remarkable things in the Phoenix metro. We knew there were an outstanding number of women impacting the community and making big strides in their industries. Our goal was to get those women from behind their computer screens and into the public eye. Thus, we created the KNOW Book, a carefully curated publication that would feature vision-led women in a glamorous and authentic style. As the momentum grew and we recognized the need for more, we launched our Tribe around the women featured in our KNOW Book. Our mix & mingles soon ensued and we witnessed incredible things happening. We saw our women doing business with each other, creating friendships, supporting each other, collaborating on projects together and so much more. What started as a fun project to spotlight women, has turned into a full-blown movement. The KNOW Book + Tribe has expanded beyond its birthplace of Phoenix, Arizona; its aim is to launch in every major city across the United States and Canada. Today we are excited to unveil our newest annual publication – the Best of KNOW. This book features our most notable women from all our 2018 KNOW Books. The women selected for feature have not only achieved high levels of professional success, but also serve as inspiring leaders and mentors, and are actively creating a legacy by passing on their vision to women of the future. Help us congratulate them!

Laura’s goal is to make healthy food more accessible (and delicious) for people on the go and she strongly focuses on using exotic superfoods that

Laura is committed to bringing consumers real food which not only tastes delicious, but makes you feel good from the inside out and has now successfully grown her company across Canada. When she isn’t testing new recipes in the kitchen, she’s watching the Food Network, visiting cute markets and eclectic grocery stores, or at the dog park with her boyfriend Jeff and more-thancute dog Brixton.

LINDSEY MERKLEY AND CRYSTAL BANGLE GROW & CO. OWNERS

Grow & Co. owners Lindsey Merkley and Crystal Bangle have been dreaming big together and making those big dreams happen for the past three years, while venturing through first time motherhood together. Grow & Co. launched organically in 2015 while both were ending maternity leave. Sharing a love for decor and their kids, and discussing frustration over the lack of custom kids decor in the Calgary area, they made their first batch of growth charts in their kitchen, and were sold out within minutes of sharing via Facebook. They knew they were onto something from day one, creating functional, unique and stylish kid’s decor, with the mindset of handcrafting tangible mementos for families to cherish from generation to generation. Evolving primarily into a made to order online store, their product line has also expanded over time and grown into a six figure business in those three short years.

MOLLY GRANTHAM WBTV

If you want real life, honesty twisted with humor, and authenticity in a corporate world… start following Molly Grantham. This two-time Emmy award winning journalist is an anchor, author and mom. She’s a leader in social media and fixture in our households, working at WBTV News since 2003. Last fall she published her first book, Small Victories: The Off-Camera Life of an On-Camera Mom. Despite the telegenic glamour she shows Charlotte on a daily basis, she lets us know it’s okay to screw stuff up and – YES! – still want to work, even after you have kids. Molly doesn’t shy away from tough stuff: She has covered gangs, terrorism, the fight to legalize cannabis oil in North Carolina, is actively involved in Charlotte’s cancer community, and started #MollysKids, stories about local kids facing uphill medical battles. But we like Molly because of her glass half-full perspective, selfdeprecating truth-telling and the madness she manages to smile through when it comes to the swirling circle of life.

CINDY ECKERT THE PINK CEILING

Cindy Eckert’s work today in The Pink Ceiling/ Pinkubator continues to break barriers by investing in and mentoring other women to get to her same outcomes. Over a distinguished 24year career in healthcare, in only the last 10 she has started and sold two businesses for more than $1.5B. First Slate Pharmaceuticals, which redefined long acting testosterone treatment for men then Sprout Pharmaceuticals, home of the first ever FDA-approved drug for low sexual desire in women (dubbed “female Viagra” by the media). After selling the company for $1B in 2015, she successfully fought to get the drug back and launched it on her own terms. ELIZABETH DI MAIO HEALIUM HAIR

With a budding sales career in the beauty industry, Elizabeth was excited to launch Healium Hair in 2007 with her husband. Learning things the hard way, the wrong way and the expensive way also taught her that successful people fail a lot. However, these challenges paled in comparison to the struggles she faced becoming a widow with two small children at the age of 39. Standing alone at the helm of the company after her husband passed from cancer in 2017 was a hardship she never anticipated.

With a small team in place nationwide, Healium Hair is currently in over 5,000 hair salons and growing. She also launched the Heal I Am Program, to give back 5% of every sale to one of 3 charities. Elizabeth found her strength as the ultimate multi-tasker, having her hand in every aspect of her business while remaining focused on her children. And while she doesn’t have all the answers, she has faith that this is her path for a reason.

JESSICA PAYNE SWEATOLOGY

Ever since she was little, Jessica knew she wanted to be in the beauty industry. At the age of 18, she moved to NYC and was determined to make it as a makeup artist. Earning barely enough to cover her expenses in the city, Jessica’s passion persisted. After a job with Ford’s creative department grew into new opportunities that involved a move to Los Angeles, she knew the hard work was paying off.

While in LA, she found Blushington where she worked her way up to Director of Artistry, trained all artists and opened five stores nationwide. Soon after, she joined the E! News team and began working the Golden Globes, Oscars, Grammys, MTV movie awards and the Emmys. Eventually, Jessica signed with LA topagency Cloutier Remix and has been mentioned as a beauty expert on Good Morning America, Access Hollywood and E!.

Jessica moved to Tampa for her now-husband, Logan, with a star-studded list of clients. Missing the beauty influences of the West Coast, she met Bianca Benedetto and opened “Sweatology,” Tampa’s first and only medicallyapproved infrared sauna and detox studio.
