Luboń Wielki (1,022 m) is a mountain which towers over Rabka – it can be easily recognised as on its top there is a characteristic relay tower. A few interesting trails run to it from Rabka. Irrespective of the fact that its northern slope is steep, the route is only 3.5 km long – it is an ideal distance for a short, mountain adventure. The peak itself is a part of the second ridge along which the blue trail runs – it is an excellent route for those who want to extend their trip.
From the top, we can admire a panorama of the Gorce, Podhale, Babia Mountain or the Tatras. There is the PTTK (Polish Tourist Sightseeing Society) Shelter of Stanisław Dunin-Borkowski which was built in 1929. Being at the shelter, we can admire views of the four sides of the world. Close to the shelter, the Little Beskid Trail starts (or ends) and leads to Straconka in Bielsko-Biała. It is marked red and is 137 km long. Luboń can be a starting point of a few days’ trip.

THE PEATLAND MUSEUM IN CHOCHOŁÓW
The biggest, cross-border complex of bogs is located within Czarny Dunajec Commune and Žilina Region in Slovakia. The peatlands were formed at the end of the last Ice Age approximately 10,000 years ago. In order to protect these valuable areas, a Polish-Slovak project was launched. Its main aim is to make the bogs available to people and educate about their ecosystem, plants and animals which
inhabit them. It also guides us on how to admire peatlands without destroying them and promotes their protection. The Peatland Museum in Chochołów, located in a modernised, wooden building (a former medical centre), is a place where knowledge about the formation and functioning of peatland ecosystems is presented in a modern way.
Eko Taxi allows us to visit renovated wagons which run through the bogs.

THE OSCYPEK ROUTE
The Oscypek Route leads us from one to another shepherd’s hut where oscypek is made according to traditional methods protected by the EU certificate. There are 50 huts on the route – in each of them there is baca (a senior shepherd) attired in a traditional Highlander costume who tells stories about sheep or his life and offers oscypek to visitors. Such a shepherd’s hut within Czarny Dunajec Commune is located on Baligówka.

KAYAKING ON THE CZARNY DUNAJEC

However, from Koniówka the Czarny Dunajec is more peaceful but still we will come across some steps and will be forced to carry our kayaks over them.

The Little Pieniny
The blue trail, which runs through the highest parts of the Little Pieniny, is one of the most panoramic trails in the Pieniny. While walking, we can admire the views of the Pieniny with Trzy Korony (982 m) which stand out, the Gorce, the Beskid Sądecki and the Tatras. We finish our walk at ‘Homole’ Nature Reserve. The route is not difficult – the only stage which may be tiring is going from Szczawnica to Palenica (the yellow trail from Palenica Chairlift down station) but we can skip it and reach the top by the chairlift. We can also get to the ridge of the Pieniny along the yellow trail which is more pleasant and easier and leads from Szlachtowa to Huściowa (818 m).
Another difficult climb awaits us on the way to Wysoka (1,050 m) – it is 300 m long and there is 76 m of elevation. The way is steep and rocky but it is the highest mountain of the Pieniny. However, it can be skipped as well – at the fork at the foot of Wysoka we go down south following the blue trail through Wysokie Skałki Nature Reserve.
On the way we will find a few spots ideal for a picnic. It is also a good idea to stay at Durbaszka Shelter (849 m) or Bukowinki Hut. Some catering facilities are available on the top of Palenica as well.

Along Pienińska Droga to Slovakia
Droga Pienińska (the Pieniny Tract) is one of the most frequented routes in the Pieniny Mountains either by hikers or cyclists. We start our trip at the place where the Grajcarek flows into the Dunajec, near a rafting bay. In the vicinity there are bike rentals and parking spots. If we want to extend our trip, we can start it in the centre of Szczawnica. We head for the north following a wide, mild road along well-marked VeloDunajec and the red hiking trail. The route which runs along the Dunajec River between limestone rocks, which are 300-500 metres high, is picturesque. After approximately 700 m we will reach the Educational Pavilion of the Pieniny National Park. After
another 700 m we will reach the border between Poland and Slovakia and the rest of our trip will be continued on the Slovak side (you need to have your ID or a passport and a helmet). On the route, there are a few places where you can make a stop. After 9 km we will get to the Red Monastery in Slovakia. We must come back along the same route. However, we can also take advantage of rafting down the Dunajec River combined with renting a bike. In such a case, we can leave a car in Sromowce Niżne, go by dinghy, raft or kayak to Szczawnica and come back on a rented bike to Sromowce Niżne.

THE WAWEL HILL
The Wawel Hill is the most distinguishing spot on the map of Cracow. For a hill, it is quite small and rises to a height of 228 m but thanks to the location by the Vistula, it is definitely visible. There, at the Wawel Castle, the royal history of Cracow was created! The greatest kings of Poland reigned from this place. You will see there the beautiful courtyard, the cathedral, and the castle whose interiors are definitely worth seeing. The first stone castle was erected at the beginning of the 11th century when Cracow became the seat of Polish kings and it was rebuilt repeatedly. It gained its Renaissance look in the 16th century. After the fire, which was supposedly caused by
Sigismund III Vasa during his alchemic experiments, it was largely destroyed. Sigismund moved the capital from Cracow to Warsaw. Now it delights us as it always has. It is worth going inside to see representative chambers or the collection of tapestry. The Cathedral is a must. Apart from beautiful chapels including Sigismund’s one or the Coronation Altar, you will admire royal crypts and the Silver Bells Tower with the most popular of bells – the Sigismund’s Bell. Beyond the walls of the castle, right by the Vistula, the Wawel Dragon which belches out fire and his den await visitors!

THE LEGENDS OF CRACOW
Once upon a time, on the bank of the Vistula, in the den where an exceptionally cruel dragon used to live… – this is the way one of the most famous legends about the symbol of Cracow, the Wawel Dragon, starts. However, Cracow has many more legends than the one about the creature belching out fire which have been intriguing and enchanting for many years. Legends may be told in a variety of ways. WOWCracow! has the newest technique to present them – a theatre with mechanised effects which allows us to feel the atmosphere of the old times. The dragon belching out fire, the history of the royal ring in a lump of salt, the power of the Sigismund Bell, Twardowski who flew on a rooster or the dancing Lajkonik – we can get to know, see and even smell these and many more stories during a show ‘the Legends of Cracow’. Various emotions – laughter, surprise or even fear – accompany us during the show. Visiting the corners of Cracow, the public has a chance to assess how much truth is in the legends.
CRUISES CRACOW
Panoramic cruises on the Vistula are a great alternative to traditional sightseeing. From an unusual perspective of a ship or a small catamaran, you will see such places as the Wawel Castle, the Monastery of Pauline Fathers, the Monastery of Norbertines, Kazimierz, Podgórze, Dębniki, Przegrzały or even the Monastery in Tyniec. Legendary Cracow
The Main Square and the Old Town which surrounds it definitely constitute the most popular place in Cracow and it attracts a number of tourists. There are the most beautiful and significant historic sites connected with the history of the former capital of Poland. The Old Town is a small piece of today’s Cracow and historically it is its most important part. After all, within its walls the city was born. Nowadays, we can admire only fragments of town walls and old moats were filled in and surfaced, creating one of the first city parks called ‘Planty’. Going across Planty Park we can loop around the Old Town.
In order to make a walk around the Old Town more attractive for the youngest visitors, we definitely need to include a few special places. The first one is the Living Museum of Obwarzanek located in Kleparz. Children will definitely enjoy the Barbican and the remains of town walls. In Floriańska Street they should see the House of Jan Matejko and in the Square spots connected with the legends of Cracow – St Mary’s Basilica and the Cloth Hall. Older visitors ought to be shown the Collegium Maius –the oldest building of the Jagiellonian University. The Professor Garden, which is situated nearby, will appeal to the younger ones. From there, it is a stone’s throw to the Wawel – the castle should be visited but Dragon’s Den and Wawel Dragon may turn out to be the most interesting.

MUSZYNA A town of gardens
Muszyna is definitely the commune which offers a lot to visitors. It is constantly developing and its location is an additional advantage – it is situated in a beautiful and interesting place in terms of nature, geography and history. Muszyna lies in the valley of the Poprad River between the Beskid Sądecki and the Poprad Foothills which, on the Polish side, create the magical Leluchowskie Mountains. Muszyna, the town, constitutes the heart of the commune. It is a place where one can take advantage of healing mineral waters and a beneficial climate, a place where one can find plenty of attractions. It is called ‘a town of gardens’ as they prevail in the place. There are also
historic places such as ruins of the castle or the Manor of Starosts. Moreover, the place abounds in cycling trails and bike, go-kart or scooter rentals. The cellars of the town hall constitute a great spot for younger and older visitors and so do pottery workshops or a choo-choo which goes around the most popular spots in the spa.

ATTRACTIONS FOR CHILDREN
THE TOWN HALL AND CELLARS UNDER THE SQUARE
The Town Hall situated at the Square is a building which was erected in the years 2019 – 2021 and constitutes one of the newest attractions of the place. Its style refers to town halls of the 19th century which have been preserved in other towns. The place where it stands is not random. Under the Town Hall there are historic cellars which are hundreds of years old. The goods which were transported along the Hungarian Trade Route, including wine for royal tables, were stored there. Archeologists also discovered that there used to be a prison. That is why we can see there an exposition which displays medieval instruments of torture, a captured robber in a cell and the last witch of Muszyna. The second part of the cellars presents the way wine was stored hundreds of years ago. Over the cellars there is the Centre of Tourist Information, a cafe and a mineral water pump room.
ZAPOPRADZIE
Zapopradzie is a spa district of Muszyna and its recreational centre. It is where the biggest Sensory Gardens in Poland are located – between March and April they are covered with millions of crocuses. Alpacas, rare white fallow deer and exotic birds await tourists in the Magical Gardens. There are also theme parks which refer to various parts of the world. We can start our adventure with kayaks or dinghies in Zapopradzie on the Poprad River. The sports infrastructure of the place is enoiched with tennis courts, a skatepark, an ice-rink, a complex of swimming pools, a mini gold field, a line park for children, a water ball, a rental of go-karts, electric bikes or scooters.
THE SENSORY GARDENS
The Sensory Gardens were created on the slopes of Sucha Mountain (561 m) in Zapopradzie. It is an amazing place, a real pride of the town. They are called the Sensory Gardens or the Gardens of the Senses as they are divided into a few zones which are supposed to stimulate our taste, smell, sight, hearing and touch. The Gardens are designed in such a way to have a recreational and therapeutic function. They are accessible for people with motor disabilities, the blind and people with proms. At the top, in the zone of sight there is a panoramic tower from which we can see a panorama of the Poprad Valley and the Jaworzyna Krynicka Range. THE PARK OF CULTURE AND FORMER CRAFTS
The Park of Culture and Former Crafts consists of the Manor of Starosts of Muszyna, a roadhouse and a guardhouse. The manor was erected in the 18th century as the seat of starosts of Muszyna who moved there from the Castle which had been falling into decline. Today it is the seat of the Centre of Culture and a cafe. The roadhouse is a reconstruction of a building from the 18th century which is the seat of the Regional Museum and the Centre of Tourist Information. THE RUINS OF THE CASTLE
The first stronghold built on a hill called ‘Baszta’ (in the Koziejówka Range) is supposed to have been erected in the 11th century as some researchers claim. It was small and in the 14th century it was replaced by a stone tower. The castle, whose ruins we can admire now, was erected in 1390. The initiator of the construction was Bishop Jan Muskata. The Castle had been a residence of bishops from Cracow until 1474. Moreover, it was supposed to protect the borders and the trade route. It also served as a customs unit. During the invasion of Maciej Korwin, the Hungarian king, it was almost completely destroyed. Having been reconstructed in a Renaissance style, it only served as a watchtower and the seat of the starosts of Muszyna. However, when they moved to the manor in the 17th century, the Castle fell into decline. Nowadays, it is being gradually reconstructed and is a great panoramic spot to watch the bend of the Poprad and nearby mountains. The legend says that under the castle there are secret dungeons which hide treasure. According to another version of the legend, the dormant army is stationed there. They are supposed to wake up in the face of danger, join the dormant knights from the Tatras and defend the borders of Poland together.
RAFTING AND KAYAKING
The Poprad is a perfect river for rafting. There are a few routes – they can start in Leluchów and the longest ones finish in Stary Sącz where the Poprad River Valley ends. We can go kayaking or use a dinghy.

Electric scooters can be rented at the ice rink which in summer serves as a tennis court. Electric bikes are available at the Centre of Recreation and Sport Zapopradzie.

Tylickie Wzgórze
‘Tylickie Wzgórze’ (‘Tylicz Hill’), which is ideally integrated into the landscape of the Beskids, is a great accommodation spot in the picturesque region on the border between the Beskid Sądecki and the Low Beskids. This is a place with a unique vibe where the local colour intertwines with a modern design. This unconventional guesthouse is a complex of facilities in the Highlander style enoiched with modern trends.
AN EXCLUSIVE VERSION OF FOLKLORE
The interiors have been designed with attention to detail so that they are either elegant or cosy and relate to the mountain folklore. Numerous wood and stone elements refer to the tradition of the mountain construction but you will not feel overwhelmed.
Natural fabrics soften loft elements. The inspiration with the local nature, which can be admired through the windows, brought a herringbone motif on the wallpapers. Soft upholstery with nice colours and textures adds to the cosiness of the place. Carpets are decorated with mountain motifs as well.
A FAMILY STAY WITH CREATIVE WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN
Rooms and children corners inside, an outside swimming pool with a small beach, a playing field, playgrounds for smaller and bigger guests, a zip line with a jungle gym, swings and houses on tree trunks – it is just the beginning of a long list of attractions for children. Children can watch puppet shows and develop their manual skills during entertainment and art workshops.

NATURAL TASTES FOR GOURMANDS AND GOURMET
Meals in ‘Tylickie Wzgórze’ are prepared in a way to ensure variety and please even the picky ones. Dinner dishes are based on recipes from Polish cuisine and are made with produce from the local farm. After dinner, as a dessert, homemade cakes are served – a cheesecake made from real curd cheese, apple pie or crescent rolls with chocolate. Apart from everyday meals, feasts by the fire with bigos (sauerkraut stew with meat and mushrooms) are organised. Guests can grill sausages over the fire and drink Highlander tea.

Malnik and Czarna Młaka
One of the most interesting mountain trails in Muszyna Commune starts in the heart of Powroźnik. Powroźnik is a small village which can boast of an Orthodox church which has been listed as a UNESCO site. The centre of the village is crossed by the blue trail which will lead us to the beautiful, deep green and tranquil Leluchowskie Mountains. We walk through the village, then through a forest in the direction of Czarne Garby (830 m) on whose slopes Czarna Młaka – a landslide lake – is situated. To reach it, we need to turn aside from the trail having walked 2.5 km – the place is well-marked. Czarna Młaka (Black Młaka) is a legendary place connected with the landform of the commune. It is a landslide lake located in the heart of the forest on the slope of Czarne Garby.
It was formed over 900 years ago. Initially, it was much bigger but it overgrows year after year. Its location and the dark colour of its surface made local people tell stories about the place. Supposedly the lake is home to dark forces which drag visitors or even whole horse carriages under its surface.
Having seen the lake, we come back to the blue trail which runs to Czarne Garby. There, the blue trail connects with the yellow one which we will follow in order to get to Malnik (725 m). From its top a magnificent panorama of the area spreads. The yellow trail will take us to the centre of Muszyna from where we will take a local bus or train to get to our car.

We go along Dmowski Street from the centre of Muszyna in the direction of the Muszynka. Going down the Muszynka River, we will reach the Poprad River which will lead us to Żegiestów-Zdrój – another spa within Muszyna Commune. At the place where the Muszynka flows into the Poprad we can decide if we want to cycle only on the Polish side or follow EuroVelo11 which sometimes enters Slovakia (remember about documents and helmets). If we choose Slovakia, we need to go through Zapopradzie towards the Borysów crossing. We can come back to the Polish side across a bike bridge over the Poprad in Milik.
EV11 also runs this way. If we do not wish to cross the border, we follow the Main Carpathian Trail along railway tracks. Both routes run through the picturesque valley of the Poprad River. On the way we will come across sheds, where one may have a rest, and springs of mineral water. We may stop in Milik or Andrzejówka to visit beautiful, wooden Orthodox churches. The easiest way to come back from Żegiestów to Muszyna is by train. You can also make a loop and return to Muszyna along a bit more difficult trail – the Mineral Water Cycling Route.

These cute creatures inhabit attics of wooden temples. The guides of Kamrat Travel Agency will take you to the most beautiful Orthodox churches of the Beskid Sądecki, tell you about their secrets and conduct bat workshops for children. Lemko food tasting or visiting nearby places is also possible during such a trip.

Jaworzyna Krynicka
Jaworzyna Krynicka (1,114 m) is the highest peak of the Jaworzyna Range. Beautiful trails and the Gondola Lift will lead us there. A bit below the top of it, at a height of 1,050 m, close to the Main Beskid Trail there is the PTTK (Polish Sightseeing Society) Shelter of Józef Piłsudski. It offers accommodation and food and beverage facilities. From the clearing in front of the shelter, magnificent views spread. The Museum of Mountain Tourism is right by the shelter where we can see a visitors’ book from the pre-war period. Hiking down from the shelter, along the red trail in the direction of Krynica, we will come across the legendary rocky outcrop – the Devil’s Stone and the Brigands’ Cave. We can reach Jaworzyna by the Gondola Lift from Czarny Potok, along the red trail also from Czarny Potok or Deptak,
along the yellow or blue trail from Deptak through the Krzyżowa Pass where we change the trail into the green one which takes us directly to the top of Jaworzyna Krynicka.
The most interesting variant of this trip will be to reach the top following the red trail from Czarny Potok. From the top, we walk towards Jaworzyna Krynicka PTTK Shelter along the green trail and further in the direction of Czarny Potok from where we move towards the Krzyżowa Pass (768 m). From the pass, along the yellow trail we reach Krzyżowa Mountain (812 m) and then we descend to Deptak. In order to come back to Czarny Potok from Deptak we may use spa public transport which is free of charge.

UŚCIE GORLICKIE
The charms of the Low Beskids
The area of Uście Gorlickie Commune spreads over the Low Beskids – one of the lowest mountain massifs in the Carpathians but, at the same time, one of more interesting ones. Despite its tragic, post-war history, the commune is still known for its multiculturalism and living Lemko traditions. Despite the fact that it is a mountainous area, one may find more attractions in the valleys. The villages hide pearls of wooden architecture, including Greek or Eastern Orthodox churches – some of them still function as Eastern rite churches.
The youngest tourists can hike along mountain trails discovering the traces of the long history, they can learn how to ride a horse or go cycling along forest paths. A bit older tourists will be delighted with wooden architecture or go on their first mushroom picking. Wysowa-Zdrój is a spa of the commune. In the north there is Uście Gorlickie in the vicinity of which there is Klimkówka Lake. Young travellers can take advantage of water sports at the place or sunbathe. In winter, Uście Gorlickie is a perfect spot for sledding, skiing or sleigh riding.

‘STARA CEGIELNIA’ HORSE STABLE
‘Stara Cegielnia’ (Old Brickyard) is situated in Gładyszów, in the central part of the Low Beskids. It offers an exceptional form of active leisure – horse riding. Horses are a lifetime passion of the owners who enthusiastically pass it on to the next generations. Camps, school camps, carriage rides, sleigh rides and horse shows are organised at the place. The horses from ‘Stara Cegielnia’ acted in films such as ‘Janosik’ or ‘Bitwa Warszawska 1920’ (Battle of Warsaw 1920). Since 2010 ‘Stara Cegielnia’ has been a certified PTTK (Polish Tourist Sightseeing Society) facility and a PTTK training centre. As a consequence, if you want to become a guide of mountain equestrian tourism, you can do your guide practice at the place. You will be able to gain PTTK riding badges there as well.
HUCULS FROM LEMKO LAND
Huculs – small but extremely intelligent and tough mountain ponies are one of the oldest breeds in Poland. They were mainly connected with Hucul Land but they have been bred in the Low Beskids, in Gładyszów and Regietów, for many years. Thanks to their gentle character, they are perfect for equine-assisted therapy. The Hucul Stable in Regietów is the biggest stable in Europe which breeds these horses. This is the place where in September Hucul Days take place. During this event sports, breeding and artistic programmes are presented. Apart from horse riding classes, horseback tours, carriage rides and, in winter, sleigh rides, are organised here.

There is a pool for children with a water umbrella, a steam sauna, a dry sauna and a bar.
LACKOWA MOUNTAIN – THE HIGHEST PEAK
Lackowa, a mountain which rises to 997 metres, is the highest mountain top on the Polish side of the Low Beskids, hence, also in Uście Gorlickie Commune. It rises over Izby and Bieliczna and its characteristic ‘dome’ is visible from a distance. In spite of the fact that it does not cross the height of 1,000 m above sea level, it can give a hard time! It is said that climbing it from the west along the red trail is one of the most difficult climbs in the Polish Beskids. Initially, the mountain had a Lemko name ‘Łackowa’ and today it is often called Pułaski’s Banner or Police Mountain (due to the fact that the Police emergency number in Poland is 997).

The trail will lead us further until we reach the Orthodox Church of Saint Michael the Archangel. By the church, the red trail of the commune has its beginning –we will follow it to get to Jawor Mountain (723 m). At first, we walk along paved roads and, after 1 km, we enter a forest. It is a very pleasant walk. Having walked 2 km, we will get to the Orthodox Church of Mother of God’s
Protection situated on Jawor Mountain. The place is believed to be sacred by followers of the Eastern Church – it is called Holy Mountain of Lemko People. Apart from the wooden temple, there is a spring of water. Being at the church, we should climb another 700 m to get to the top. Initially, we walk along a path which is not marked and after 300 m we reach the red trail which leads us along the border between Poland and Slovakia. We walk another 400m east following red signs and we reach the top. We descend along the same route but we do not come back to the Orthodox church. We head for the Cigelka Pass (652 m).
