The Low Beskids are an amazing part of Poland. Dominated by forests and nature, they delight with their omnipresent tranquillity and greenness. The air is clean and smells of trees and herbs. You will not find big cities or industrial centres there but tiny villages dispersed in valleys which used to be inhabited by Lemko people. The people grazed sheep and cultivated their land. They were craftsmen and excellent carpenters. They built their wooden chyże (Lemko cottages) and beautiful churches which constitute the landmark of this region. They were forced to leave their land after the Second World War. Few of them came back. They left behind beautiful temples, roadside crosses, orchards – now old and overgrown, and destroyed houses. They also left ubiquitous
peace, unspoiled nature and mountains in which blowing wind tells a story of its former inhabitants.
We visit the Low Beskids in order to hike in the forests along almost deserted trails. There are numerous cycling and, in winter, cross-country skiing trails. We go there to participate in horse riding tours and to see stables of hucul ponies. In autumn, people choose this place to go mushroom picking and take part in the Feast of Red Pine Mushroom. Wooden architecture lovers, enthusiasts of Orthodox church art and history fans visit this place as well. The Beskid woods hide the First and Second World War relics and, especially beautiful though sad, cemeteries from the first one.
Wysowa-Zdrój is a beautiful spa village in the western part of the Low Beskids. Its biggest treasure is mineral water – all the springs received certificates of healing water and thanks to them Wysowa-Zdrój became a spa which offers treatments based on it. A beneficial microclimate, present in the village thanks to dense forests, is also taken advantage of. Wysowa is the biggest tourist spot in the commune. A lot of hiking and cycling trails have their starting points there. At the place, one can visit two wooden temples, the beautiful Spa Park with the Mineral Water Pump Room and many other attractions. Interesting cultural events, concerts and special days such as ‘Villages Smelling of Herbs in Lesser Poland’ in summer or ‘the Feast of Red Pine Mushroom’ in autumn take place in the park. In Wysowa you may also taste local cuisine including Lemko delicacies or buy handicraft.
A sanatorium – Glinik Recreational and Healing Centre – is located in the centre of the spa, close to the Spa Park. The facility lies on a sunny slope and is surrounded by juicy greenness. It is an ideal spot not only for a rehabilitation stay but also for a holiday. The sanatorium offers a wide choice of various healing and relaxing treatments. Comfortable rooms and modern facilities have been prepared for guests. A large garden with a barbecue site, a cosy cafeteria, a library, a sauna and a rehabilitation swimming pool with a hydromassage are at guests’ disposal.
Glinik Sanatorium offers 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-person spacious rooms with ensuite bathrooms decorated in a classical style. They are equipped with a TV, a radio, a phone and a kettle. Free of charge Wifi is also available. The rooms are adjusted to suit people with disabilities and those in wheelchairs.
The cafeteria in Glinik offers delicious food to its guests. Breakfasts, dinners and suppers are served on a daily basis and dishes are always fresh, prepared from local products. While booking a stay in the sanatorium, one may purchase a package with a full board. It is also possible to tailor dishes to an individual diet. A light diet, a diet for diabetics or people who are insulin-dependent, a gluten-free diet and a vegetarian one are available. All the dishes are served in a beautiful room with a view of the park.
Glinik Recreational and Healing Centre, which is a sanatorium, offers different stays including rehabilitation or holiday ones:
FULL 14 -day rehabilitation stay
LIGHT 14 -day rehabilitation stay
FULL 14 -day rehabilitation stay funded by PFRON
LIGHT 14 -day rehabilitation stay funded by PFRON
Full pay sanatorium stay for a health guest’s family (21 days without a referral)
7-day regeneration holiday
Holiday stay (an optional number of days)
National Health Fund stay
The sanatorium has modern, rich facilities excellent in the treatment and rehabilitation of various medical conditions. Classical, segmentary, isometric, sports, vibratory, compression, mechanical massages on an armchair and hydromassages in a pool are performed there as well. Balneotherapy i.e. treatments with the use of mineral water are very popular among guests. There are also brine, peat, pearl or whirlpool baths, peat wraps and CO2 baths. Brine is also used for inhalations. Sound therapy
(ultrasounds, phonophoresis), electrotherapy, light therapy, magnet therapy, kinesiotherapy i.e. various exercises are conducted in the sanatorium. Post-COVID treatments such as breath therapy or new sets of exercises in the pool constitute an interesting offer.
Not only does Glinik offer healing treatments, but also wellness ones. One may take advantage of relaxation massages (a face massage, a massage with hot stones, a hydromassage in a bath or a cupping massage). Body work which is a deep relaxation based on a massage and
work with a soft tissue is available. Health guests can use a pool with a hydromassage and an infrared sauna. Moreover, they can benefit from green areas surrounding the place – they do have a great influence on either our body or mind.
Mineral waters from Wysowa are the greatest treasure of the region. The sanatorium successfully uses them. They are mainly sodium-bicarbonate-chloride, sodium-bicarbonate-chloride-calcium or bicarbonate-sodium-calcium acidulous waters. All of them were approved by the Ministry of Health as healing waters.
14 intakes from 5 springs are available in Wysowa:
Henryk – 0.62% acidulous sodium-bicarbonate-boric water,
Franciszek – 1.61% acidulous sodium-bicarbonate-bromide-boric water,
Anna – 1.59 % acidulous sodium-bicarbonate-iodide-bromide-boric water,
Józef II – 0.51% acidulous sodium-bicarbonate-chloride-ferric-boric water,
Słone – 0.20% acidulous sodium-bicarbonate-calcium-ferric-boric-sulphide water.
The Spa Park constitutes the direct surroundings of Gilik Recreation and Healing Centre where you can take a walk among old trees along numerous paths. There is also the Mineral Water Pump Room and a playground. The Water Park with recreation and rehabilitation swimming pools, a swimming pool for children and a jacuzzi is also at a stone’s throw. The Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary and The Orthodox wooden Church of St Michael the Archangel are worth seeing in Wysowa as well.
