The Low Beskids
The Low Beskids are dominated by nature. They are full of forests, charming valleys and small villages. They delight with their omnipresent tranquillity and greenness. You will not find big cities or industrial centres there. The air is clean and smells of trees, flowers and herbs. Their history is also rich. The land used to be inhabited by Lemko people who grazed sheep and cultivated their land. They were craftsmen and excellent carpenters who built their wooden chyże (Lemko cottages) and beautiful churches which constitute the landmark of this region. They were forced to leave their land after the ‘Vistula’ Operation which took place in the years 1947 – 1950. They left behind beautiful temples, roadside crosses, orchards and houses which have been falling into ruin over the
years. They also left ubiquitous peace, unspoiled nature, traditions including their cuisine and rituals.
We visit the Low Beskids in order to hike in the forests along almost deserted trails. There are numerous cycling and, in winter, cross-country skiing trails. We go there to participate in horse riding tours and to see stables of hucul ponies. In autumn, people choose this place to go mushroom picking and take part in the Feast of Red Pine Mushroom. Wooden architecture lovers, enthusiasts of Orthodox church art and history fans visit this place as well. The Beskid woods hide the First and Second World War relics and, especially beautiful though sad, cemeteries from the first one.

A spa
Wysowa-Zdrój is a beautiful spa village in the western part of the Low Beskids. Its biggest treasure is mineral water – all the springs received certificates of healing water and thanks to them Wysowa-Zdrój became a spa which offers treatments in the field of balneotherapy. A beneficial microclimate, present in the village thanks to dense forests, is also taken advantage of. Wysowa is the biggest tourist spot in the commune. A lot of hiking and cycling trails have their starting points there. At the place, one can visit two wooden temples, the beautiful Spa Park with the Mineral Water Pump Room and many other attractions. Interesting cultural events, concerts and special days such as ‘Villages Smelling of Herbs in Lesser Poland’ in summer or ‘the Feast of Red Pine Mushroom’ in autumn take place in the park. In Wysowa you may also taste local cuisine including Lemko delicacies or buy handicraft.

Medicine
Wysowa Spa over the Park operates as a part of the Institute of Health whose facilities can be also found in Muszyna and Uniejów. The institute offers spa treatment for adults, spa rehabilitation in a sanatorium, disability prevention and individual stays with rehabilitation. A team of specialist doctors, therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists, dietitians and nurses do their best to restore and maintain good health of health visitors in the field of spa treatment and the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders or psychosomatic diseases.
MEDICINE 7
Normobaric oxygen therapy
One of the most effective, and non-invasive at the same time, prevention and treatment methods at the Institute is oxygen therapy. This therapy positively influences proper functioning of the whole organism, and our brain in particular. The method uses pressure higher than atmospheric (approximately 1500 hPa). A person, who undergoes the treatment, breathes in air with increased oxygen content which increases the saturation of haemoglobin with oxygen. Oxygen therapy supports body cleansing and metabolism, reduces inflammation, accelerates healing of wounds, increases production of collagen and slows down the process of ageing.
Recreation
Wysowa Spa over the Park is located in a beautiful, green area ideal for doing sports and recreation. The centre encourages active leisure by making their recreation facilities available to guests. There is a big garden with a basketball and tennis court. Inside the facility there are pool tables and table tennis. On special request, hiking or cycling trips, carriage rides, horse-riding and sleigh rides are organised. A few rentals give us a chance to rent bikes or Nordic walking sticks and hit some Beskid trails in order to benefit from the microclimate of the Low Beskids.
A spa zone
The Institute offers a Spa studio to its guests where a variety of beautifying and relaxation treatments with the use of natural products are carried out. They aim at deep relaxation, increase of energy and improvement of one’s skin health. Relaxation, peeling and classical massages with aromatherapy are conducted. Moreover, one can choose a delicious massage with chocolate. The facility also offers a wide selection of body treatments and baths including pearl, peat and aromatic ones.
