Piwniczna-Zdrój is a small town in the valley of the Poprad River, located on the slopes of the Beskid Sądecki. It is surrounded by nature, hence, it is an ideal place for those who enjoy active leisure in beautiful surroundings. However, enthusiasts of history and culture will find something for themselves there as well.

The history of the town starts in the 14th century when it received town rights from Casimir III the Great. Piwniczna was supposed to protect the trade route which led from Hungary along the Poprad River upcountry. Nowadays, you can find reminders of its long history everywhere. A reconstructed well on the market square, war trenches on Węgielnik Mountain, the small Regional Museum or the Courier Trail leading through Eliaszówka (1,023 m) to Slovakia bring the old times to mind.

The centre is dominated by dense buildings with a historic market square. If we move further from the centre, we will come across single hamlets which we associate rather with villages than with a town. Settlements spread to a height of 1,140 m. Węgielnik with a panoramic platform towers over the centre – standing there, we can see the whole valley. Radziejowa (1,266 m), the highest mountain of the Beskid Sądecki, rises over the whole town. The square is a starting point for numerous mountain trails which lead to mountain tops located within the town’s borders – Eliaszówka (1,023 m), Niemcowa (1,001 m), or Kicarz (703 m).

We cannot forget about the fact that Piwniczna-Zdrój is a spa. Geological structure of the Beskid Sądecki makes water flowing through its rocks saturate with beneficial minerals and elements. Later on, it springs out in various places in the form of healing water.

A boutique hotel

Piwniczna Hotel**** SPA&Conference is not a typical hotel. This is the only boutique hotel in Poland designed in the ethno style. And what exactly is a boutique hotel? It is a hotel which offers services of the highest standard and its main aim is to satisfy sophisticated, luxurious and subtle needs of guests who visit it. Peace and quiet, a feeling of intimacy and cosy interiors dominate the place.

Rooms in the ethno design

There are 21 single and double rooms. What is more, the hotel offers 15 apartments, including two of a higher standard with an open master bathroom suite. Freestanding baths are an idea of an esteemed, French architect and design creator Philippe Starck. Each room is equipped with a minibar, a safe, a phone and Wifi is available free of

There people may slow down, run away from the rush of everyday life.

Piwniczna Hotel, located in a quiet, mountain town, draws inspiration from nature and cultural heritage which is visible either in its decor and cuisine or in the treatments offered by a hotel SPA. All of this in a four-star standard.

charge. All the rooms are unique but there is something they all have in common – they have been inspired by mountains and the culture and art of Highlanders. Wood, sheep wool and ethnic patterns prevail there and are combined with minimalist decor and surprising colours.

The cuisine of Czarna Owca

The name of the hotel restaurant Czarna Owca (Black Sheep) is connected with Black Highlanders from the valley of the Poprad River and sheep grazed by them. The inspiration does not end with the name though. The menu abounds in dishes from Highlander and Lemko cuisine. We will find there oscypki (traditional sheep cheese), lamb, shepherd flatbread, trouts, Łomnicańskie dumplings and Lemko kiszeniaki (cabbage rolls).

What is more, the restaurant offers dishes inspired by distant corners of the world such as Asian kimchi or noodles with shrimps. Vegetarians and vegans can be tempted by a salad with goat cheese or a vegan burger. People who need to avoid gluten will find something for themselves as well.

Piwniczna Hotel**** SPA & Conference invites guests to its bar where various cocktails and desserts with a pinch of folklore are served.

Parties to the rhythm of Highlander music

Highlander evenings take place in Czarna Owca every Thursday. There is a lot going on then! Vivacious, Highlander music won’t let you sit at the table for a very long time and funny, folk songs will amuse everybody. A Highlander band makes guests have fun well into the night.

The restaurant is a place where you can organise a wedding or communion reception, a company event or other types of parties. A menu can be tailored to individual tastes and needs in order to meet expectations of guests.

HedoniSPA– for those who know what is best for them

According to the doctrine of hedonism, achieving happiness and pleasure is the greatest good. People who created HedoniSPA had this doctrine in mind. The place aims at satisfying guests’ needs, giving them pleasure and an opportunity to relax.

HedoniSPA promotes harmony with mountain wildlife that is why the interiors are inspired by nature and the treatments are prepared with the use of local plants.

The spa consists of a swimming pool zone. You will find there pools with four-metre waterfalls. Open fire adds to

the cosy atmosphere of the place. Guests also have access to a salt grotto, sauna and bath zone with a jacuzzi. All of this in a wonderful atmosphere of relaxation and beautiful interiors.

After 5 p.m. the sauna and bath zone with a jacuzzi becomes a nude zone (only for adult guests) which complies with the highest culture of sauning. The atmosphere which dominates there is intimate and allows complete relaxation.

7 HEDONISPA– FOR THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR THEM

What attractions await us in HedoniSPA?

Swimming pools are equipped with showers, a side massage, a counter current (typhoon) and an air lounger. There are brine pools with water similar to the one in a sea which helps to heal some skin conditions and alleviates rheumatic and muscle pains or neuralgia. The hotel has prepared a special safe swimming pool for children. Obviously, the relaxation zone could not do without a jacuzzi!

We may use a dry Finnish sauna which detoxicates and hardens our body. Moreover, aromatic sessions will intensify our impressions.

A steam bath will help us unwind and, at the same time, harden and warm up our body. It also has a positive influence on our respiratory system and skin. A thermal graduation tower combines salt inhalation and a steam bath.

A sensational shower will definitely be an unforgettable experience which would surprise us with changing temperature, the direction of water streams, visual and aromatic effects. There is also a cold well with an icefall and a salt grotto with a sea microclimate ideal for treating various afflictions of the respiratory tract, the circulatory and the digestive system.

Seances have various motifs, for instance, Highlander music and ‘śliwowica’ (traditional plum vodka), frozen chocolate, fruit sorbets or meditation.

HedoniSPA offers a wide selection of massages and rituals with the use of different techniques and stimuli such as Hedoni massage, four hands massage, hot stones massage, Rasul ritual in a steam bath, Hammam foam massage and other specialist treatments.

Children can undergo some treatments in the spa, which have been created especially for them, such as Superhero Massage, Fairy Massage, ChocoSPA or a vitamin bath.
