STRATEGY

Despite enough rainfall, the provinces in the northeastern region usually face water problemss because of poor management, so does Korat Hence, we have come up with the strategies to find a way to drain the water during the rainy season to prevent flooding in the city and to retain some amount to use, especially for agriculture, in the dry season.

In the future, the rate of economic growth will be greater, causing people from different provinces and countries to come to settle, work and travel.

The number of population is analyzed from national statisitcs, fertility rate and population density. After the study, it was found that the population rate dropped at 1% per year, the latent population has increased by 20% according to the rate of economic growth.

Formerly the site holds 1.76 sq.km of green patches or about 24 sq.m per capita which os quite appropriate according to the World Health Organization (WHO) that recommended the availability of a minimium of 9 sq.m of green space per individual. However, to support around 152,000 people in 2040, we designed a city that has approximately 3.78 sq.km of green areas to maintain an adequate quantity of greenery.

Analyzing Muang Korat issues, we have found that the city center lack of life and identity. Therefore, the area inside the moat is developed to be a node that will accommodate people in doing activities by adding more functions than residences to make the city lively

The city is redesigned to be an area that more prople come to use placing various functions to bring the space to life. Each zone is based on the existing landuse in order to maintain Korat identity ,moreover we put in linkage to create harmony and umbrage

Agriculture is a necessary of building a sustainable city. Better farming to higher value of food security. Thus, to meet the needs of larger population, vertical farming is a good alternative to yield more crops of higher quality but consuming less water and taking up less space.

Apart from redesigned the public space, we added a treatment pond and green spaces to improve water security and environmental quality.

RECREATION & LEARNING CENTER

Nowadays, it is a place that people come to jog and exercise. so, in the year 2040, the role of being an urban park will belong to this place. It will act as a garden, recreation park, learning center and water reservoir as before, anyhow, the zoning will allocate into active and passive parks including the woodland that helps humidify the surrounding environment and increase green spaces that cover all aspects of the community

BIO-RETENTION PLANTING

The garden consists of various zones, for instance, the flower domes, recreation park and above all. The woodland zone which is not only provides recreation to the people but also serve as a transition to the village below

The planning shall be divided into six zones: sports hub, active and passive recreation zones, commercial and cooperative zone, rain garden and agriculture zone, and agricultural village. This area plays a huge part in collecting and treating water for the community.
