Last Sunday’s Midwinter Music Session at the Hororata Village Bar and CafĂŠ was what could only be described as an enjoyable and outstanding success. “It was an amazing day.â€? said CafĂŠ co-owner Jarnia Kupe, Kupe “we were so lucky with the weather and a great crowd turned up, with many coming out from Christchurch. The Midwinter Music Session kicked off with Manaia Davies’ rendition of the Black Eyed Peas, "Where is the Love" and at only ten years old the crowd were in agreement that she was an absolute sensation! Manaia performs, and is tutored, at the Moorhouse Dance Studio in Christchurch, but lives in Glentunnel. Next up was Cassie

Henderson - from X-Factor 2013. “Cassie played for just over an hour and the audience loved her,� Jarnia added. “She sang some acoustic guitar originals, as well as cover songs.� Cassie, who is only sixteen years old, is not only a brilliantly talented singer, but also commented that she is looking forward to the up and coming season of Julius Caesar, this year’s Rangi Ruru Girls’ School stage production. “Then,� said Jarnia, “came the arrival of Stevie (Stevie Stevie Tonks aka Hatbeard and X-Factor New Zealand competitor) who sung not only his well-known X-Factor songs, but also had guests spellbound by his original music.
