Podcast and television host Kelly Corrigan wonders about a lot of things: the weight of being a role model; how young people can get the most out of college; how love does and doesn’t work; global conflicts; whether philosophy majors have fewer midlife crises — and that’s just in the last few months! Whatever the subject, Corrigan tackles it with wit, grace and humor as the host of Kelly Corrigan Wonders. Tune in to hear conversations on life, business, sex and family with everyone from Michael Lewis to Constance Wu.
Kelly Corrigan Wonders plays on KQED Public Radio 88.5 FM on Wednesdays at 10pm with an overnight repeat Thursdays at 1am. You can also catch it on the KQED App. —Devin Holt, On-Air Digital Programming Assistant

STARTER EPISODE
“Is It OK for Teachers to Cry in Class?”
As a parent of school-aged children, I appreciate every episode of KQED’s MindShift, but I recommend this one as a jumping-off point. The story of a teacher who allowed herself to feel her feelings and model that for her students was an emotional reminder that having safe spaces to process our feelings benefits everyone.
STARTER EPISODE
“Kevin Killed Sydney and Reddit’s C.E.O. Defends Section 230”
New York Times’ Hard Fork is the tech business show I’ve been waiting for. It’s funny and insightful with an in-the-know feel that’s just fun to be a part of. I recommend starting with the episode in which co-host Kevin Roose recounts how Microsoft’s chatbot tried to convince him to leave his wife.
STARTER EPISODE
“Julia Sweeney: Nanaimo Bars”
Your Last Meal with Rachel Belle is such a sweet and lovely show. Belle talks to musicians, artists, actors, writers and others about the food they love and the stories behind those meals — then she goes deep into the history and science of each one. It’s the perfect thing to throw on for your next dog walk!

June 18 will be a must-see night for mystery lovers as we premiere Ridley, a new eight-part series, alongside the final season of Endeavour. Ridley introduces us to charismatic Detective Inspector (DI) Alex Ridley, who has retired from the police after years of dedicated service. Ridley’s replacement is DI Carol Farman, his former protégée whom Ridley mentored for many years. When Farman enlists him as a police consultant on a complex and compelling murder case, the investigation takes a dark and unexpected turn. The series, created and written by Vera writer Paul Matthew Thompson and Jonathan Fisher, stars Adrian Dunbar. This one will be hard to turn off; Passport members will be able to binge the whole series starting June 18. —Meredith Speight, Director, TV Programming

Sadly, the beloved British crime series Endeavour meets its demise in Season 9, which begins this month. A prequel to the Inspector Morse series, Endeavour first aired in 2012 as a single film. Prior to that, the Inspector Morse series ran from 1987 to 2000. The spinoff, Inspector Lewis, aired from 2006 to 2015.
Before the series ends, you can step behind the scenes and take a look back at the prior seasons by watching a new documentary called Morse and the Last Endeavour, which airs on Sunday, June 11, at 9pm on KQED 9. Then, tune into the first of three thrilling, puzzling and no-doubt emotional episodes of the new Endeavour, Season 9, on Sunday, June 18, at 9pm on KQED 9. In the first episode, a
murder in a college garden leads Endeavour to investigate a celebrated Oxford orchestra but, when a second tragedy hits, he discovers a story the ensemble would rather forget. And the ending, which screenwriter Russell Lewis apparently always had in mind, unfolds.
As noted, the final season of Endeavour premieres on Sunday, June 18, at 9pm on KQED 9; two additional episodes air on Sunday, June 25 and Sunday, July 2. And you can stream the episodes on the night they premiere on the PBS App.
While murder is always most foul, this time it’s also must see. —
Ellyn Hament, Managing EditorPeter Falk played detective Colombo on television, but singer Bing Crosby was the first choice for that role. Crosby feared being in a series would interfere with his golf playing.
• Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly played hardboiled New York detectives in Cagney and Lacey. The 1980s show reflected the changing roles of women as Lacey balanced her family life and job.
• Shaft was a film first, but it was also a television show from 1973 to 1974. It starred Black actor Richard Roundtree as a private detective. CBS felt the character needed to be toned down for television. He worked with the police instead of against them.
Tuesday, July 4, 8–9:30pm on KQED 9 Commemorate our country’s 247th birthday by tuning into the 43rd anniversary broadcast of America’s Independence Day celebration. With a special display of fireworks and musical performances by top country, pop, R&B, classical and Broadway stars, it’ll also feature the National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Jack Everly.
Tuesday, June 13, at 9pm on KQED 9 and Wednesday, June 14, at 5:30pm on KQED Plus
Founded in 1981, Gay and Lesbian Latinos Unidos (GLLU) was the greater Los Angeles area’s first major queer Latin organization. The film chronicles events surrounding GLLU at a pivotal time in the history and the movements that shaped the destinies of GLLU’s communities for decades to come.
SATURDAY NIGHT MOVIE
Saturday, June 17, at 8pm on KQED 9
Written in response to the chilling effect of the McCarthy era investigations on intellectual discourse, this 1960 film set in the 1920s follows Tennessee school teacher Bertram Cates (Dick York), who’s put on trial for violating the Butler Act, a state law that prohibits public schools from teaching evolution.

KQED is helping to make the acclaimed podcast Spooked and its catalog of heart-pounding episodes available free to listeners across all major podcast platforms.
Spooked is a project of the team behind the iconic public radio program Snap Judgment and is hosted by creator Glynn Washington. It features true-life supernatural stories told firsthand by people who can barely believe that these eerie things happened. Spooked challenges skeptics of the supernatural, daring listeners to confront the unknown.
Episodes feature spine-tingling stories about a man who encounters a stubborn cat-like entity that refuses to go away, a tattoo practitioner who learns to extract the spirits of ancestors and a young man in the military confronted by the past. These stories demand that listeners question their own map of reality.
Search for Spooked wherever you get your podcasts … if you dare.
