Thailand’s varied landscape Thailand, a place where dreams come true, where thoughts come to life and people come as tourists as stay to become locals.

Thailand has for decades been on the international radar for people to move to because it’s an easy place to live, the rules are not nearly as strict as many Western countries, and you will be greeted by a smile nearly everywhere you go.

It’s a magical place but it’s a varied and diverse landscape, Bangkok acts as the heart of the country, with over 40% of the countries population living in and around the massive cosmopolitan.

Outside of Bangkok are provinces and aptly named so as they come in all shapes in sizes, no two are the same. Krabi lies in the heart of the Andaman sea, in between Phuket and Koh Samui, it’s it one of the fastest growing provinces in the region but still retains it’s core values of Green energy, focusing on promoting, protecting and preserving the forests and national parks throughout the province.

Krabi is a place for families, couples and backpackers alike. There is plenty of places to visit, and activities to keep you busy during your stay here.

With Netflix making such an impact on the global scene of cinema and television we thought it fitting to talk about some of our favourite shows currently airing. Happy watching!

ARCHER Staring a group of alcoholic, unprofessional, accident prone, sleezy, obese (among other adjectives) private detectives and their misshaped adventures which take them from Toulouse to Tokyo and everywhere in between. This group of inept ‘idiots’ makes blunder and after blunder but always seems to come out on top.

It’s a wild ride and you’ll certainly enjoy any part of their crazy and archaic adventures. Currently in it’s 9th season Archer can be watched online at www.adultswim.com or on www.netflix.com.

Our only advice with this series is that when you start be prepared to not get up form your couch for some time, it’s rather addictive and with each episode not building off the previous one, you can start watching at any point and be in perfect shape.

BETTER CALL SAUL You all remember Saul Goodman from the hit television series Breaking Bad. Well he’s now on his own and it’s nothing short of his A game one can come to expect of Bob Odenkirk. Better call Saul traces Saul Goodman back to his early days when he was just becoming an attorney and even before this when he was hustling on the street.

The shows first season features a broken down lawyer who is trying to make ends meat someway, no anyway her can. but he’s a man of integrity and turned in 1.6 Millinos USD is stolen cash from his clients, cash which he realised he could have kept for himself.

So is born the Saul Goodman we all know and love from Breaking Bad, the Saul Goodman, who cares nothing about right and wrong, the Saul Goodman who will do anything for money and for his clients.

HOUSE OF CARDS The political drama which has shaken the world by bringing the realities of real life politicians to our living rooms has just released it’s 5th season. This could be the series finale but nothing has been made official from Netflix. It’s still up in the air what will be the future of this blockbuster show. All things aside it’s still an amazing ride from season 1 to season 5 (if thats all we get), as Frank Underwood transforms himself from a regular senator to the vice president, and then onto becoming the President.

Throughout this transformation Frank makes the shifts with an political wit which some of our real life politicians can take a page from his playbook of. It’s a turbulent ride, but most certainly maps the real lives of some our current officials, and could make you either not want to run for office run form the insanity and difficulty which is so evident in the world of big politics. It’s a show studded with all star performances, many of the actors in House of Crds are actually making their debut apprearances, but one wouldn’t know it as the acting and levle of conviction is paramond. leading the pack is Kevin Spacy playing the protagonist Frank Underwood. Frank’s wife (Clare Underwood) is played by Robin Wright.

PARKS

KOH PODA This is the iconic island of Krabi and the first and most dramatic one you can see from Ao Nang beach. Hop on a longtail boat - the local wooden boats with their picturesque prow - and sail away surrounded by turquoise water.

LIMESTONE MOUNTAINS These iconic karsts characterize most of the inland area of Krabi, the most spectacular being the crags of Sai Tai, in between Ao Nang and Krabitown. Susaan Hoi is a 40 million year-old seashell cemetery; once a large swamp where freshwater crustaceans proliferated, today it’s home to 40 centimeter thick, shell encrusted limestone slabs, a geologically rather unique and is only 5Km from Ao Nang beach.

CHICKEN ISLAND This should be next on your list as it is right next to Koh Poda. From the right angle when passing Chicken Island (Koh Gai) you can catch a glimpse of a chicken’s neck and head, some would argue more like that of a turkey but it’s up to you. The second island, Koh Tub, is connected to Chicken Island by a sandy isthmus and people can walk from one to another at low tide.

KOH HONG This island archipelago demands everyone’s attention as it is one of the highlights of Krabi Province. The Archipelago, a group of limestone islands with many hidden caves and lagoons makes it perfect for snorkeling and exploring. Make sure you visit Lading and Pakbia islands before Koh Hong as they are much less visited and sport a blend of both lush jungle and tropical waters. Koh hong is usually crowded until 3pm so we recommend visiting other Lading and Pakbia in the morning, then going to Koh Hong after the crowds have started to leave.

KHAO PHANOM BENCHA NATIONAL PARK At 20 km from Krabi Town, the Khao Phanom Bencha national park comprises waterfalls, streams, lush forests and caves.

It is home to all kind of flora and wildlife and to the highest mountain in the region from which it takes it’s name. One of the features of the park is Huay Thoi Waterfall where water runs down onto several huge pools.

TARNBOK KHORANEE NATIONAL PARK Located in the north of the province, Tarnbok Khoranee national park is made up of limestone mountains, verdant tropical forest, caves and beautiful islands.

It is well known kayaking explorers as there are a number of tributaries curving into a number of small caves boasting ancient cave paintings.

KOH PHI PHI Private bays, limestone cliffs, waters rich in marine life and caves where swallow’s birds nests are harvested are all here on the island that Leonardo Di Caprio once rolled his hot bod in while filming ‘The Beach’ at the now iconic Maya Bay.

SA MORAKOT, THE EMERALD POOL Truly a natural wonder of Krabi: a pond of turquoise water with an average temperature of 30-40°C fed by a hot spring in the middle of the jungle in Klong Thom district, 70 kilometers from Ao Nang.

KOH JUM & KOH SIBOYA Both are unspoiled tropical hide-aways that have a unique atmosphere. Tune in to the slow culture here, imbibe the peace and recharge your batteries with the soundtrack of lapping waves.

HOT SPRINGS Situated in Klong Thom district, These natural hot springs are natures jacuzzis.

They melt away tensions, relieve the body and mind with the fresh spring water running over mineral enriched limestone rocks.

KOH LANTA The developing island at the southern end of the province known for its prime sunset views, heaps of activities and glimpses into sea gypsy life. Koh Lanta is also a National Park that comprises many local islands surrounded by coral reefs, such as Koh Ngai, Koh Mook and the remote Koh Rok.

BEACHES AO NANG BEACH: At 20 km from Krabi Town Ao Nang Beach is the most developed of Krabi’s many beaches. Ao Nang Beach is famous for it’s white sand beaches and large limestones karsts towering over the eastern edges. All of your accommodation, shopping and service needs can be found here. It is the hub from which to plan your trip to sea as well as to any number of the nearby islands.

NOPPHARAT THARA BEACH Just around the corner from Ao Nang, yet still undeveloped with only a few resorts, bars and restaurants, Noppharat Thara beach offers a bit more “local” feel than it’s sister Ao Nang. Attractive because of its natural setting, this is where local youngsters and families gather during sunset and on weekends. Savor some local Muslim snacks at the beach stalls, or fill yourself with seafood in the local restaurants at the end of the beach neat the Noppharat Thara National park headquarters. At low tide, walk out together with millions of small crabs on the sandy pathways to a small island on the western edge of the beach.

KLONG MUANG BEACH A further 20 km away from Ao Nang Klong Muang is the up-market side of Krabi, the place to be if you are after a peaceful and hassle free holiday. Catering to families and couples, it is here that you really get that well deserved repose, surrounded by pristine nature.

WINDOW ON KRABI their famous climbing routes. They can only be reached by boat, a 15 minute ride from Ao Nang or 30 minutes from Krabi Town. RAILAY AND TONSAI BEACHES Are split and separated from Ao Nang by a limestone mountain range. Railay has two sides, east and west, and its settings are simply marvelous: crystal clear waters, pure sandy beaches, lush mountains and rocky islands emerging from the sea. Monkey time

A moment with our ancestors and a word of caution

T

he use of hands to grab objects is an ability we can somewhat take for granted. The opposable thumb lends it’s ability to grasp a stick or a rock and move it easily, is a skill not enjoyed by many other living forms on this planet. One we share this skill with is a distant relative, Monkeys and apes.

Diverging from these species humans have evolved and taken this simple skill to a whole new level creating computers, robots, airplanes, cars and everything else we all use in our daily lives. But this simple skill still fascinates us and those species on this planet who can exhibit the same behavior will continue to dazzle us for generations to come.

These relatives come in all shorts of shapes and sizes but most of them still live in the tropical equatorial part of the globe, making them even more alluring and primal to those of us living in the temperate part of the globe.

Thailand is full of these curious, fascinating creatures, they live at temples, cities and of course in trees. Grabbing at human trash, turning over rocks inspecting everything they can get their hands on, these amazing creatures are always looking for things to explore, inspect and learn from, sometimes

using the various objects they find around as tools to get something else.

Their adorable faces and curious nature makes them unique and fascinating creatures to watch and learn from. Living in similar patriarchal social circles as we humans do, monkeys exhibit many of the same social cues and needs as we do. They will typically have a leader for their troop, and rival troops will often battle one another over territory.

Krabi is home to a number of different species, such as the dusky langur (commonly found on Railay), crab eating macaques, gray macaques and others.

They are fascinating and special creatures that you can watch form a far, but we don’t recommend feeding or getting too close to them as they are wild animals and should be allowed to live and thrive in their natural habitat.

Be careful and lock your balcony window. Monkeys have been known to come in looking for food and other toys.

To COUNT calories or to not count CALORIES; that is the question......

Is there any healthy truth to calorie counting?

Calorie Counting is a long hallowed method of trying to beat the unwelcome weight creep.

At heart, it’s a simple mathematical equation: To prevent weight gain, calories in must equal less than calories out; right? This is the kind of straightforward dietary advice that us humans love to hear. I can eat that piece of cake as long as I run off 300 calories tonight? Excellent! But is it really so simple? Is one calorie always the same as another calorie?

Although it’s used colloquially in many ways, a calorie is just a measure of energy.

More specifically, the energy needed to raise the temperature of 1g of water by 1 °C. Human beings ‘burn’ calories constantly to power our brains and bodies but one’s daily average depends heavily on muscle mass, age, metabolism, gender and activity level (both mental and physical) Traditional dietary advice tends to recommend people reducing the number of daily calories they consume if they want to lose weight.

‘Diet’ foods are often focused on the notion of low fat because fats contain a high number of calories; Healthy carbs and proteins are recommended instead. However, while reducing your total number of daily calories is a good place to start, the idea that fat makes you fat is based on outdated science. Humans are complex. Weight is not just dependent on what we eat but also on how this consumption affects our feeling of fullness, brain activity and hormones.

Several years ago, a man named Damon Gameau embarked on an intrepid experiment for a documentary entitled “That Sugar Film”.

A lightly active man in his early 30’s. Damon calculated that his average intake was around 2300 calories a day. For 60 days, Damon continued to consume these 2300 calories. But, instead of taking them from a balanced array of proteins, fats and carbohydrates, he ate only “healthy,” carb rich foods like low fat yoghurt, muesli bars, juices and cereals. By eating this way, Damon calculated he consumed more than 40 teaspoons of sugar a day ‘very easily.’

The results of the experiment were shocking.

Despite not changing his daily calorie allowance at all, Damon developed an array of daunting and debilitating health difficulties: Major weight gain, lethargy and even the beginnings of fatty liver disease. He also found he was always hungry and constantly craving sugar rich foods.

This demonstrates just one man’s experience and perhaps not every person’s body will react as extremely as Damon’s did. But it does stand as to show: How you take in calories matters just as much, if not more, than the number of calories itself.

What you read on the packet is also not always what your body is absorbing. As part

of his research at Harvard Medical School.

Dr Dariush Mozzafarian found that only about 75% of foods rich in fibre (Like nuts, vegetables) is actually absorbed while the rest is expelled as waste. This can cause a false assumption of certain foods being out of bounds.

BUT IS IT REALLY SO SIMPLE? IS ONE CALORIE ALWAYS THE SAME AS ANOTHER CALORIE? Then there’s the emotional component. It is well known that self- discipline and creating a rhythm of making health conscious decisions is an important part of weight loss and health maintenance. Foods that are high in sugar have a stimulating effect on the brain that makes it harder to see the big picture. Recent research has in fact shown that the neurological ‘reward’ of sugar can be more addictive than that of cocaine. This links to an evolutionary past where finding and eating foods high in calories was a matter of survival. The rapid insulin spike and drop that accompanies eating high sugar foods also causes one to become hungry a short while after you have eaten, and angry and frustrated when you are forced to deny yourself the pleasure of certain foods. Combined, these factor strongly into why it can sometimes be so, so hard to say no to that slice of cake.

is what it should be: A beginning. It is a tool to help you learn what a correct portion is. It can also be fascinating experiment to investigate how much raw, fresh food you can eat in a day to fill up a calorie total as opposed to how much processed food (spoiler: a LOT more fresh foods).

Rak’s Thai Resort, located a short 300 meters from the popular Noparathara beach was originally named Jinnie’s place after the mother of the family, but later changed to Rak’s Thai Resort as when translated Rak’s Thai means ‘Love Thai’.

The design of the resort was to be of a natural Thai orientation with substantial amounts of local clay brick work to make up the vast majority of the buildings. A lot of thought was also put into the open air aspects throughout the resort, where a number of the bathrooms are actually half exposed to the wind, and skies above. The space in between the individual bungalows and walkways throughout the resort are well planted with various local vegetation but also give plenty of space for wind to rustle through and sun rays to warm you up as you wander through this lush paradise.

The whole are of the resort was built over an area of approximately 10,000 Sq. meters, therefore the 20 some rooms have plenty of space in between each other as well as the pool, reception and restaurant.

As one of the moto’s of Krabi is to keep Krabi clean and green, the owners decided it only fitting that the swimming pool be a natural salt water swimming pool. So the chemical input into the swimming pool is kept to a minimum and the guests who go in for a dive don’t get out with a slimy chlorine fleeing all over their skin. It’s also much more pleasant to be around for the staff and local animals.

The location of the resort is perfect as it’s only a short 300 meter walk from Noparathara beach, so guests can walk, rent a scooter or take a taxi and be in the heart of the town in no time at all.

The resort itself features a restaurant serving Dim Sum styled dishes nightly, so it’s a great place for families, couples of large groups to dine in some of the less known local cuisines in the area.

Dim Sum is actually a Chinese dish, but as many Chinese immigrants came to Thailand over 100 years ago they brought with them their local cuisine, Dim Sum being one of those dishes. It has become somewhat of a local dish as these Chinese immigrants have lived in Thailand for so long they are a part of the local culture.

Across the street of the resort is the famous Muay Thai Stadium which hosts Muay Thai boxing competitions once or twice a week (depending on the season).

Typically the fights are every Friday night and start at 9pm but it’s best you call the management ahead and confirm the exact time.

Krabi’s coastline spreads over 300 kilometers, thus making it a great place to find new beaches and get wet while exploring the underwater paradise that surrounds us.

Over 150 islands dot the coastline offering a plethora of safe heavens for fish and coral to live and grow. A number of these islands are only rock outcroppings, without any beaches making them ominous and stunning to look at but not very good to stop at due to their lack of beaches. Above water the islands are truly stunning to gaze up at but underwater the world is even more amazing.

Why you should wear one Thailand, the land of smiles, the land of freedom and opportunity right? Yes thats certainly correct, Thailand is a wonderful place and you are most likely enjoying yourself here on holiday, it’s a new unique place for you to be.

People are different, the culture is different, the food is different and most importantly the rules are different, but that doesn’t mean you should forget how to keep yourself safe.

We want to talk about something specific though, helmet safely.

As you will see throughout Thailand, many of the local Thai population don’t wear helmets, you might even witness many people at one time getting on a motorbike and none of them wear a helmet. Well this is one of those times when the saying “When in Rome, do as the Roman’s do” shouldn’t really be followed.

Although you might think that as you witness this there is no rules in Thailand for wearing helmets. This couldn’t be further from the truth. There thing is that the police are often too overwhelmed in some of the poorly funded provinces to enforce these regulations on a large scale. This is why in Bangkok, Phuket,

Pattaya, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui you will usually not see anyone driving without a helmet.

That’s beside the point, the point is that you should always wear your helmets, as when in a foreign country and when taking risks, things when simply solvable in your home here can become complicated and difficult.

Moreover you’re head is one of those important parts of your body and when damaged can have irreversible effects on the rest of your life.

So if we can ask you one thing, please take care of yourself, take care about your head and about your future. Put on a helmet when you drive in Thailand.

That’s not all, there are occasional stops by the police against people not wearing a helmet, they are most commonly in the form of road blocks and therefore the police stop everyone passing through a certain road block.

If this happens to you and you’re not wearing a helmet, expect to be fined 500THB.

Thai food dates back centuries, although it’s been influenced over the generations by various traders and travellers it still retains it’s original taste CHILI!!!!

Thai food is heavily based around the Chili, it’s an essential ingredient to almost every dish which is cooked throughout the kingdom and you better get used to it. If you’ve eaten enough Thai food you’ll start to notice how essential it can be for the food to be balanced and taste great.

There are some basic things you should know about Thai food hewn talking about Chilis.

1.Be prepared

Have plenty of water on site to wash down your throat if it gets too strong 2. Ask first

Make sure you ask if the dish is spicy, if it is ask for a little spicy by using the Thai: “Pet Nitnoi” when translated into English this means ‘A little spice”

3. Don’t drink beer or alcohol

This is up to you I guess, but for many of us beer and alcohol doesn’t wash down any spice, it only inflames it to be worse, but who knows maybe you’re special.

4. Eat slowly

The first inclination when smelling the amazing dishes you see everywhere is to dive right in, but take it easy killer, reign it in a bit, take a small bit and make an assessment, then go from there.

6. Give it time

You’re not literally on fire, it’s only your taste buds which are pissed off at you, give them time and they’ll cool down 7. Fear not, it’s not dangerous

It’s nothing to be worried about, those urban legends of people frying their taste buds, they are not to be considered in Thailand, the chilis here are not even close to the scoville level needed to do damage

5. Walk around

Sometimes walking can be a great way to distract your mind if it’s on fire, taking in other smells and sights can distract the mind and give you a little ‘placebo’ effect to dull the pain

How spicy is Thai food?

It’s spicy, thats for sure but on the scoville scale thai chilis measure around 100,000200,000 scoville units. That might sound high but when you compare the Carolina Reaper pepper with a scoville scale of 1,570,000.......

There you go, you’ve been warned, how to treat the Thai chili. Go and eat some!

Moving to Japan some 35 years ago as a young man Khun Suwat Hannarong was in search of better working conditions and a new adventure. While working and living in Japan he witnessed local Japanese men flying up into the clouds, sometimes to high he couldn’t see them anymore. Standing awestruck, he knew he had to try this truly awesome sport, and once he did and his feet left the ground he was forever hooked. When he finished his contracts in Japan and he was on his way back to Thailand, then the thought occurred to him to bring this sport to his countrymen in Thailand.

Back 1980 there was simply no association in Thailand which dealt with the sport of paragliding so if he was to start a school then he would need government approval. Upon his submission of company documents and proof of his flying ability in Japan the Thai government allowed him to open his school as well as opening the official organization in Thailand for paragliding - RASAT (Royal Aeronautics Sports Association of Thailand), making him the organizations founder and president. Opening his school in Ranong Thailand he began offering his courses to local’s in the area inspiring many to challenge themselves and take to the skies to learn the art of paragliding. His actions soon spread throughout the kingdom and many would come to learn with him, from the basics of equipment preparation to theory and eventually practice. His students flew throughout the kingdom, from Chiang Mai to Surat Thani, Bangkok and Pattaya, students would come and then return to their home provinces bringing this new art with them.

“Fear of heights is normal, if you’re not afraid of heights then this is not normal” Khun Suwat Hannarong The idea of paragliding (modifying a parachute to enable control and ‘gliding’ ability) has been around since the early 1950’s but the actual modification of equipment to be used in a safe and efficient way was not fully recognized and accepted until the early 1970’s. During which time a group of British and French pilots had the idea to run off a slope which would give the speed necessary to fill the sail and give it a slight lift. These 44

first flight wren successful albeit short then did pave the way for more people to try on a suit and take to the skies and so was born the sport of modern day paragliding. Now the sport is recognized all across the globe and pilots can be seen from the Swiss Alps and American Rockies to the rolling hills of New Zealand and Ranong.

Since the sports inception and it’s international popularity it has inevitably been the subject of the human spirit’s ambition and therefore competitions were born. Distances measured and compared, heights tracked and checked, champions were crowned. It’s a sport that draws in all ages of enthusiasts, it’s not only a sport for young adventure seekers, 50+ year old people come out for the sport for the first time, it doesn’t take superior strength or endurance, it only takes one ability to believe in themselves and their equipment and learn everything they can about the art of paragliding. Now competitions are held in many major countries, in fact just last month in Malaysia held a recent a competition, The Terengganu International Paragliding Competition (TIPCO) from May 12-16. Featuring pilots from over 20 countries the competition was a great success, and will be held again next year, so if you’re interested in going, get in touch with Khun Suwat and start your training today. Khun Suwat has trained people for over 2 decades now, he has trained people from the basics only taking pilots a few meters off the ground to professional pilots who set out on many hundred kilometer flights.

There are 5 levels of piloting certification in the world of paragliding, from para-pro 1-5, pilots can begin to fly on their own once they reach a certification of para-pro 2. CULINARY STAR CENTARA ANDA DHEVI APPOINTS Thong Aek Seneewong na Ayuthaya as the new HEAD CHEF of their SoundGarden restaurant on Soi 8 in Ao Nang. Krabi Magazine had the chance to meet and talk with Chef Thong Aek Sennewong na Ayuthaya about his story.

With over 16 years’ experience across Asia working for some of the best hotels and chefs in the business, Chef Thong Aek Seneewong na Ayuthaya has chosen Centara and Krabi as his new workplace and home in a move that is sure to delight guests and locals alike with his sensational culinary creations.

Here is “The Story” of his “Journey” After completion of the Siam business college with focus on Tourism, Chef Thong Aek Seneewong na Ayuthaya was able to get his first opportunity during the opening of the Bangkok Peninsula Hotel. Other people would have aimed for a chance in one of the restaurants but he was quite content to get a chance to work in “Chili & Pepper” the staff canteen of this famous 5 star hotel. He learned to cook Thai food for Thai people. At that point, instead of learning to plate fine dining creations he managed a wok and cooked for portions for 10 persons at a time. This basic knowledge accompanied him all his life and created the base of his culinary career.

He got a chance to go abroad for the first time to join the Mandarin Oriental Macau for a total of 5 years. His starting position was as Commis in Naam the fine dining Thai restaurant. Here he learned the finesse of fine dining and elegant plate presentation. He was promoted after two years and worked as Demi chef. After 3 years in the Thai restaurant he was given a chance to move as Demi Chef to the fine dining Italian Restaurant, Mezzaluna.

This change was an extremely hard challenge

since he never cooked Italian food before. He studied very hard on the recipes and the cooking techniques to become an effective Italian Chef.

During this time the Mezzaluna belonged to the very best restaurants in Macau and he was able to work with numerous well known foreign chefs, who by now have made excellent careers. Here are a couple of well recognized names:

After a while with Patio restaurant and an excellent 16 years culinary journey he received an opportunity to join Centara Anda Dhevi Resort & Spa Krabi as Head Chef. This role is quite new to him due to its job description. As the head of the Kitchen Department he is not only using his technical skills but also able to develop his skills in other areas. He has learnt a lot about department financials, planning, organizing and developing both product and people.

During this time Chef Thong Aek was also able to join some promotional chefs such as the celebrity chef David Laris, Owner of David Laris Creates and working with the 1 star Michelin Chef Mario Corti.

Chef Thong Aek says: “It is my pleasure and pride to join the Centara Family as I received the opportunity to show my skills, develop myself and more over I have a chance to develop others”

After 5 years abroad he felt it was time to return to his family and look after his mother and grandmother in Chiang Mai. Through Mandarin Oriental Hotel group he was invited to return back to his roots of Thai cuisine at the Le Grand Lanna Restaurant at the Dhara Dhevi, the magnificent Hotel of Chiang Mai where he was fortunate to be promoted to Chef de Partie. He enjoyed his time back in Thailand and especially to cook Thai food again. attanapat Hospital Trang came to Krabi some years ago to expand it’s coverage over the region by opening a primary care clinic on the main street in Ao Nang. To provide quality and standard medical care services to tourists and local people.

Since opening their flagship clinic Wattanapat has decided to open a new hospital just on the outskirts of Ao Nang in the quiet hilltop regions of Klong Heang, the official ground breaking will happen in the coming July 2017.

Wattanapat relocated the clinic to a new location just opposite The Krabi Resort. We will keep the same quality and standard of service Wattanapat Hospital Trang is known for, the new location is much more convenient with regard to customer access. The Clinic Manager Pawanee Masosod tells.

KM: What is your specialisation?

I am a general practitioner, and enjoy family medicine KM: What is your stance on alternative medicine?

I have studied many different fields of medicine, the mainstream methods as well as many alternative methods such as acupuncture, homeopathy, dietary and lifestyle changes, all of these methods have proven effective for certain patients and I will continue to work with alternative medicine when needed.

Taking an adventurous journey to exotic Thailand is something that many a traveller has experienced in their lifetime. In years past places in the Central and Northern regions of Thailand such as Aythaya and Chiang Mai were destinations praised for their rich culture and centuries of historical savvy.

When venturing to the Southern destinations of this incredible nation you will surely hear of Phuket and Phi Phi islands. However, the new kid on the block for travellers has become the province of Krabi. Krabi is known for scuba diving, rock climbing and some of the most incredible limestone karsts. Krabi carries the reputation of, “Lovely place and lovely people”. This is all well and true. Krabi town is inland and only a short drive away from Ao Nang village, nestled along the seashore. In less than two decades both of these neighboring towns have risen in acclaim and popularity.

More and more tourists are wanting to see more of unseen Thailand and not so much the hustle and bustle of some of the more popular or trendy tourists spots. But as fate may have it and in a fairly short amount of time, Krabi is now being challenged with how to maintain and service tourists that want to experience this incredible community. Growth is great and has many positive benefits that come along with it but for most tourists they are still longing to experience the heart of the nation and not necessarily its modernization.

Recently we discovered hidden within the province of Krabi a tranquil little island called Koh Jum. The spoils of modernization have yet to embark upon this jem; acting as a natural sanctuary within the Andaman Sea. A recent visit to the Koh Jum Beach Villas ensured that this would be the place to venture to if you truly want to feel the essence of Southern Thailand, an endless beachline, local culture and absolute peace and quiet.
