Hello everyone! Welcome to the third (yes, third!) issue of KZine. To commemorate, that’s me over there in my third-grade school photo. This month’s theme is Orange Awareness. Orange, because it can cover several different emotions. Awareness, because that’s what art brings out. As artists, it brings to the surface feelings or thoughts that may not have otherwise shown themselves. As readers, art gives us an awareness of perspective beyond our own eyes and ears. This month’s Question for the Artists is actually two questions. They are as follows: 1) What is the craziest thing you’ve dreamed of or still dream of doing? 2) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why? Thank you again for your support, and I hope you enjoy the third issue of KZine! -Kris

Orange is a color that really stands out, even at a distance, and invites attention. In the practice of Feng Shui, colors hold great significance, and orange represents fire. An orange vehicle says you are fun loving and trendy. Canaries were originally a mottled greeny-brown, but 400 years of crossbreeding by humans produced their yellow colour. A diet of red peppers turns them orange.

What is the craziest thing you’ve dreamed of or still dream of doing? The craziest thing i dream of doing is going base jumping. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why? If I could live anywhere, I would say off in a forest somewhere. I have always been an outdoors person, so if I could have a house secluded in trees, that would be the greatest.

SILHOUETTE IN A WINDOW She’s beautifulI had forgotten how softly she graced my eyes. The cigarette she can’t seem to give up, Sullies her mouthJust as his had once upon a time. Silhouette in a window, Thought she wanted to be freeOnly when she attempted to free herself, She realized she already was. Christmas rain wetting the rouge lips of the brick street below, And she remembered she was beautiful.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why? If l could live anywhere, l would live in Italy. I love the countryside, the general ‘’family’’ feeling between the people and, would LOVE to learn to cook authentic ltalian food. It is so beautiful there, I have never been but, something about the land speaks to my soul.
FALLEN I fell. Fell as I told myself I wasn’t. Told my heart to look the other way, And I wailedWailed all the way, To the release. When I awoke my bare breasts proud and free, were soaking up the morning sun. I awoke a second time, The blue fog was backHazy eyes and brilliant lips fighting for the crook of my vulnerability. I’m waking in a dream, Fighting for realityBut I can’t see past your eyes-Your lies. My power lies somewhere in tomorrow, Just outside the reach of your shadow.

wrangle your demons from the hall closet grab them by the neck pull them out stare them in the eye don’t back down throw compassion see how you love them in the sunshine see spider webs sparkle across the bruises you left for them for opening their mouths the last time kiss them atop their dusty heads call them by their birth name they were never your namesake invite them to stay the night make love to them write them a poem in the morning you will see they were just stories you told yourself once

What is the craziest thing you’ve dreamed of or still dream of doing? I’m not sure my dreams are that crazy. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why? I like just being alive. The rest is just scenery.

I’VE GOT He patted my cheek Took my hand Called me his Looked at me Like the first time He ever looked at me And I was a diamond
Tossing my stuff in storage and contracting in Iraq for a couple of years. Tax-free income. Unparalleled experience. I am this close to doing it. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Why? Hmmmm. I want to move down south and live with Paula Deen. Right in her house with her. Let her mother me and feed me things with butter in them.
He set out our chairs for lunch Even popped open my soda top And fixed me right up a straw Absently, without a to-do As though he was supposed to Went to find me a Cracker Jack box To get me the prize (Though Shop-Rite wasn’t quite so imaginative) But I’ll poem out the thought Because it stays with me still The way he sees me before he ever looks And tonight I am beautiful

Decadent So very Hepburn A bit of organza Or 600-threat count sheets A raspberried bakery-bought scone At a ladies’ high tea I am lovely words like: “flourish”, “topiary”, “fanfare”, and “swizzle stick” “I love you, too,” he said Because it’s the simple truth that he does And I stretch out in my discovery Whilst it sticks to my ribs Like wintertime stew And I give in to the knowledge That this man is mine This man is mine

Speech Communication Tips: Volume 3 This section is dedicated to the invaluable information I received in my speech communication class back in the summer of 2009. This was the class that I most dreaded in my college career. It turned out to be the most useful, not only in the area of giving speeches, but also in the areas of listening and communicating with others.
