Tempered Steel (Dystopia Trilogy) [Kindle Edition]
Book Description Publication Date: July 25, 2013 Like steel, an individual’s strength is forged by fire. Book 2 in the Dystopia Trilogy
Exiled from Dystopia, Dana is forced to wander in the barren wasteland until she chances upon a small settlement. There she meets a man named Sampson who introduces her to a new way of life; one that involves independent achievement. Learning the value of living independently, for the first time Dana is able to decide her own fate and manages to create a new life for herself. Then Kenny shows up, lost and confused like she was. Unable to leave him in the desert, Dana takes him in, but Kenny misses Dystopia and attempts to bring it there. Soon trouble arises and everything Dana has worked hard to achieve is in peril.
Back home, riots plague Dystopia, resources are more limited, and the resistance is gaining strength fueled by Dana’s courage. Furious at her escape and what she has started, President Klens orders Dana to be found at all costs and puts Colonel Fernau in charge. Obsessed with finding her himself, he will stop at nothing to get revenge.

August 3, 2013 By A Navy Vet...VT town TOP 1000 REVIEWER Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase From Dystopia to the Wastelands, this is one terrific story. Lots of action, adventure and some misery along the way. President Klens in LA continues to expound on the dangers of people being independent. One of her top aides, the barbaric Colonel Fernau, delights in torturing and killing the Resistance members. He even delights in torturing his own people! (The scene when Officer Burroughs is being tortured is brutal, to say the least). Finding Dana and returning her to Dystopia is the only thing that the evil Colonel truly cares about now. Where is she hiding? And, Dana learns that saving an old friend doesn't work out well - for either one of them. The quote "Revenge never makes the pain go away" is worthy of repeating. I like the characters and their interactions. I love Po Boy, Dana's horse, and the affinity they have for each other. All in all, an interesting mix of characters which meld really well together. Am looking forward to the next part in the fall. Highly recommended..

Much like the first book "Tempered Steel" is centered around Dana, a young woman who is strong, independent and a free-thinker in a world where everything is monitored and free-will is a thing of the past. After the events in the first book Dana finds herself being exiled from her country, left to fend for herself in a barren wasteland that is as dangerous as it is mysterious. Dana meets a man who helps her finally start to find a balance within herself, but that is threatened when Dystopia begins to unravel as Dana name and free spirit is used to incite a rebellion, causing the government to come after her with nefarious plans in mind. Overall, "Tempered Steel" is an imaginative and entertaining read that is hauntingly real and a startling glimpse of what the future could possibly hold. Ms. McNulty writes with a vivid and talented voice that allows the reader to become wrapped up in the wonderfully tragic world of Dystopia and the journey of Dana as she and those like her gain the freewill they strive for.

August 5, 2013 By ThatGuy2000 Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase Finding good novels on Kindle can be a bit hit and miss at times as many of you will know. I am glad to say though that this is a real gem! Right from the off there is a panache to the writing style which drew me in. Combining detailed, believable characters with just the right amount of suspense this is one of those books which begs to keep on reading. Unlike many self published authors on Amazon who fall into the trap of having too much dialogue, this book nicely balances that with plenty of description and internal though by the characters which really helps the reader imagine the scenes being painted by the author. All in all well worth a read!
