JC SUMMER Camps 2017 ~ More FUN Than EVER! This summer you can discover a variety of 7-week camps, specialty camps, and half-day camps to create your child’s best summer ever. If you’re looking for fitness, nutrition and fun, try our Jump Start JC Camp that is held at Memorial Park Community Center. Nature will take you on incredible journeys to learn about reptiles, wildlife, survival skills, geology, and animal adaptations. Teens can learn the rewarding experience of helping their community in the Volunteer Camp. STAR Camp will expose campers to science, technology, art, and recreation. We are even offering camp opportunities for pre-school with our Mini Jump Start Camp. Experience your creative side during the Art Camps held at Princeton Art Center and explore the world of sports during sports camps. Summer camps will be More Fun Than Ever this year!

Registration: Registration opens April 3 at 8 am. You can register at the following locations: Carver Recreation Center, Memorial Park Community Center, and Winged Deer Park. Online registration begins April 3 at 8 am www.myjcparks.org Each registrant must complete a Registration Form and all fees must be paid in full before acceptance into camp. A copy of your child’s Birth Certificate must accompany each registration form for walk-in registrations. Refunds will not be issued after camp begins, unless it is due to a medical reason. Medical refunds must be accompanied by a doctor’s recommendation.

7-Weeks of Fun Camp ̴ June 5 - July 28 (There will be NO Camps July 3-7) 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Open to Ages: 6-12 Early drop-off (7:30 a.m.) Late pick-up (5:15 p.m.) - $20 extra per week

Jump Start JC Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert Street (423) 434-5722 Camp Fee: $200 per camper (includes breakfast, lunch, and a T-shirt) Description: Looking for something exciting for your child to do this summer? Join us for JUMP START JC! Campers will have opportunities to learn about fitness, nutrition, sports, arts and crafts, nature, educational programs, enjoy guest speakers, fields trips, and make lasting friendships. Structured programs in a FUN atmosphere fosters LEARNING FUN! Camp is limited to 80 participants

Carver Recreation Camp Location: Carver Recreation Center, 322 W. Watauga Ave. (423) 461-8830 Camp Fee: $120 per camper Description: Campers will experience field trips, weekly art activities, team building, and physical fitness activities. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. Campers will receive a camp T-shirt.

Camp is limited to 80 participants.

Specialty Camps ̴ June 5 - June 30 Mini Jump Start Preschool Summer Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert Street (423) 434-6224 Date: June 6-29 Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 9 a.m.-1 pm.

7:30 a.m. (Optional Early Drop Off) Ages: 3-5 years old (must be 3 before the first day of camp) Cost: $100/Summer, $10/wk. (Optional Early Drop Off) Maximum: 15 kids Minimum (to hold camp): 5 kids Description: Jump into summer with exciting games, arts and crafts, swimming, special guests, and basic sports.

Children will get wet and messy so dress them in appropriate clothing. This camp is perfect for kids already in preschool and a great introduction for those entering preschool or starting kindergarten. They will LOVE socializing with kids their own age. Lunch will be provided. Breakfast will be provided to children using the early drop off option. Child MUST be potty trained.

STAR Camp (Science, Technology, Art, Recreation) Location: Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert Street (423) 434-5757 Date: June 26-30 Time: 9 am - Noon Ages: 6-12 Fee: $40/per camper Campers will enjoy a day of science featuring geology and astronomy, a day of technology which will feature the center’s new EyePlay System and other tech fun, a day of arts and crafts, and two days of structured recreation activities.

Swimming will be included so remember to bring your swim gear and towel.

Teen Adventure Quest Camp Location: Winged Deer Park (Robert Young Cabin) Date: July 17-21 Time: 9 am - 4 pm Ages: 13-17 Fee: $60/per camper For an unforgettable experience, a real accomplishment, and something to be proud of for the rest of the year; join us as we tour a rock quarry and a fish hatchery, build survival shelters, explore a cave, hike, swim, go river rafting, and more!!

This is a very action packed week that will allow you to test your limits and get a better understanding of our Tennessee nature. Additional minor usage fees may apply. We have a field trip each day and two meals are supplied. Camp is sponsored by Mountain River Guides powered by USA Raft.

Teen Volunteer Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert Street (423) 461-4851 Date: July 17-21 Time: 8 am drop off departure 8:30 am from MPCC - 4:30 pick up Ages: 14-17 Fee: $35/per camper Looking to get some volunteer work done this summer? Join our first-ever Teen Volunteer Camp! Campers will travel all over Johnson City lending a hand to make our community a better place - and have fun doing it! Some of our volunteer sites include Second Harvest Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Jacob’s Park, and more. Campers will get 40 hours of volunteer work as well as a valuable and exciting experience. Campers should dress for comfort and prepare to get their hands dirty.

Sports Camps – June 5 – July 14 (NO Camps July 3-7)

Soccer Camp Location: Civitan Park, 1000 N. Broadway (423) 434-5757 Date: June 5-9 Time: 9 am – Noon Ages: 6-12 Fee: $40 Campers can show their skills and improve them. Campers will practice the basic fundamentals of the game and work on their game using agilities, footwork, passing, kicking, and scoring. Maximum 30 campers.

Golf Camp Location: Pine Oaks Golf Course, 1709 Buffalo Road (423) 434-5757 Date: June 19-23 Time: 9 am – Noon Ages: 6-12 Fee: $40 Show us your best swing and let us help you with the ‘steps to success’.

Campers will work on how to hold the club, proper stance, forms, putting techniques, and driving.

Basketball Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert Street (423) 434-5757 Date: July 10-14 Time: 9 am – Noon Ages: 6-12 Fee: $40 Think you’ve got game? Then join us and show us your skills.

Learn the fundamentals of the game, work on passing, dribbling, and shooting. Join in on some challenge games.

JC SUMMER CAMPS 2017 More FUN Than EVER! Art Camps - June 19 - July 28 (NO camps July 3-7) ~

Art Thingamajigs Location: Princeton Arts Center, 2516 E. Oakland Avenue (423) 283-5800 Date: June 19-23 Time: 9 am - 1 pm Ages: 6-11 Fee: $40/per camper Campers will explore Princeton’s “Junk Draw” which is filled with cool and weird thingamajigs to create some cool and unique artworks. Campers may also bring along their own thingamajigs to add to the mix!

Under the Paint Brush Location: Princeton Arts Center, 2516 E. Oakland Avenue (423) 283-5800 Date: July 10-14 Time: 9 am - 4 pm (Early drop off 7:30 am Late pick up 5:15 pm - $20/per camper) Ages: 6-11 Fee: $75/per camper Somewhere under the paint brush you will see heavy drops of mixed color paint dripping from the bristles of the brush waiting for its final drop destination. Campers will work with various mediums - paint, pencils, oil pastels, watercolor, and much more creating some unique artworks.

Arts at Parks

Location: Princeton Arts Center, 2516 E. Oakland Avenue (423) 283-5800 Date: July 24-28 Time: 9 am - 2 pm Ages: 6-11 Fee: $50/per camper Adventure in art! Come explore the world of drawing out in the parks, urban, and zoo. Campers will expand what they see and how they see the world around us in their drawings.
