JCSC Foundation News A BIG THANK YOU to all who made a donation to the Johnson City Senior Center Foundation Christmas Box project. Through your donations, we were able to provide food and household staples for 250 low income seniors. Thank you for helping to brighten the season for these individuals. WEATHER ALERT
Inclement Weather Policy: If Johnson City Schools are closed for bad weather, the center will open at 10:00am and all instructor led programs cancelled and the center will close at 5:00pm. If the Johnson City Schools are on a 2 hour delay for bad weather, the center will open at 10:00am and programs will occur as normal and the center will close at normal hours.

Lifelong Learning The World’s Greatest Geological Wonders-Video Lecture Series Tuesdays, January 8, 15, 22, & 29 at 11a Cost: Free Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, Mount Fuji, the Galapagos Islands. These natural wonders are on everyone’s list of must-see attractions that are both spectacular and geologically fascinating. Events Beginner Line Dance Class (Level 2) Instructor: Martha Davenport Cost: $30 (Silver Sneaker Discount $20) Mondays, beginning January 7, 2019. Seven (7) sessions going through February 25 2019. 5:30-6:15p Beginner Line Dance, Level 2 is for anyone who has completed the Absolute Beginner line dance class. It is recommended that new dancers start with the absolute beginner class and then follow it with this Level 2 Beginner class, however the class is also available for anyone who knows some of the basics of line dancing and wants to refresh their skills/knowledge. Each session will be 45 minutes. If inclement weather affects the class, it will be extended to make up the days. The 7-week class series is $30, or silver sneaker discount of $20.00. Pre-registration/ payment is required. Registration will close after the first session (January 7). If anyone has any questions about the class, contact Martha at drmd72@hotmail.com. Class size may be limited so reserve your space on the dance floor by pre-registering no later than December 31st. Start 2019 with an exercise program through line dancing!

Work at your own speed, come when you need instruction and when you have finished the projects you will be able to read patterns and have the skills to tackle any project labeled intermediate on your own or in another group. Pattern books are provided and you may use any worsted weight yarn you choose. Deb Burger is a published author of both books and patterns in knitting and crochet. She has taught both crafts extensively in guilds, camps, at the John C. Campbell Folk School, and at her yarn shop in Jonesborough. Each month we will make a new block, and at the end of the year we will join the blocks to make heirloom blankets. You will need an H or I hook and 3 colors plus white yarn (#4 medium/worsted) Intro to Watercolor Instructor: Ally Amore Cost: $2 per session Monday January14 1-3p In this class you will learn about mixing colors, perspective, composition and other tips and ideas to complete beautiful paintings. We will begin with a contour drawing. A still life subject will be available to paint or you can paint what you want. Bring anything you are working on. We will have critique at the end for positive comments and suggestions for each other. Supplies needed: sketch pad and pencil, 140 lb. watercolor paper, watercolors and brushes.
