Welcome to the Johnson City Senior Center at Memorial Park Community Center.

If you are new to the center or had not been in the center for a while then don’t miss our

“Try Us Out” event the first Thursday of each month at 9:00am. Meet staff, ask questions and tour the center.

Please remember to sign in at one of the kiosks for the events and programs you are attending in the center.

Congregate Meal Center News

The Senior Foundation, Inc. – Johnson City is in the planning stages for their next fundraising event – Swing Into Action Golf Tournament Friday, October 4, 2024 at Tri Cities Golf Club. Sponsorship levels are Event sponsor — $5,000, Corporate Sponsor — $1,000, Gold Sponsor — $500, Silver Sponsor — $300, Putting Contest Sponsor — $400, Hole Sponsor — $100, Cart Sponsor — $50, or Gift card/certificate Sponsor — $25. Player fees are $80/player in a 4-person select shot tournament. Putting Contest Fee is $10/Player for a limit of 2 per person. Prizes awarded for First Place Team — $100/player, Second place team — $75/player, Third Place Team — $50/ player, Hole-in-One — $10,000, and Putting Contest — $200.

FTHRA serves lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30am -12pm. Please call 423-434-5723 for more information.

Senior Olympics

Cost: $40

Various times based upon event or events you are participating in If you are 50 and older you can participate in the First Tennessee District Senior Olympics. Events include golf, bowling, shuffleboard, pickleball, corn hole, table tennis, swimming, basketball (free throw, hot shot and 3 point), and track and field events. Registration forms available at front desk. Every participant receives a tee shirt and you can participate in multiple events. Registration required by August 23.

Merit Massage Care provides supportive massage care for older adults looking to manage their symptoms from chronic disease or illness.

Yoga “Just Breathe”

Join us for a breath of fresh air as we explore the world of yoga postures, breathing practices, and relaxation techniques. This class requires movement to the floor and back up without assistance. Bring your own mat, yoga blanket, blocks, and yoga straps.

Step It, Move It, Shake It, Lift It

on how to stay safe and aware of your surroundings. Self-awareness is something very important to have to feel confident in your surroundings and prepared for any situation. Needlework for Those in Need

If you enjoy crochet or knitting and helping others, we have a surplus of donated yarn, so we are looking for folks to make crib/child size Blankets and Afghans. See Chyrl or Ann for yarn. Donations: currently accepting donations of OUI Yogurt jars for a craft project.

Mystery Grab Bag Card Making

It’s time to clean out my stash of ready to assemble card making kits. The stamping and embossing have been done for you. This is a great opportunity for beginners to see what card making is all about or for the experienced card maker to increase their supply of ready to send cards. The mystery comes into play because you do not know which cards you will receive in your packet of six cards. Cards that will be in the packets include birthday, get well, thinking of you, New Year’s Day, Easter, patriotic, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Come and have some fun crafting and getting to know someone new.
