How do I register?
Online:
Each registrant must complete a registration form and all fees must be paid in full before acceptance into camp. Johnson City Parks and Recreation reserves the right to verify children’s ages via birth certificates on the first day of camp. Refunds will not be issued after camp begins unless it is due to a medical reason. Medical refunds must be accompanied by a doctor’s recommendation.
Traditional Camps Traditional Camps
Looking for a fun and safe environment for your child this summer? Come join us for Jump Start JC! We will have a blast learning about fitness, sports, nutrition, nature, and more. Campers will enjoy large group games, arts & crafts, educational guest speakers, and fun field trips that will be sure to make this summer an unforgettable one. A camp shirt will be provided for each child and lunch will be provided for the month of June.
Carver Recreation Summer Camp
Come enjoy Carver’s Summer Camp! Campers will experience fun field trips, weekly art activities, team building, physical fitness activities, computer lab, game room, as well as the brand new Kenneth “Herb” Greenlee Splash Pad located at the Carver Recreation facility. A camp shirt will be provided to each participant as well as lunch each day. Early drop-off participants will also receive breakfast each day. All participants will receive a camp itinerary every Monday with the daily schedule for that week. Camp is limited to 80 participants.

Learn to Ride Bike Camp is for children who are still on training wheels and are ready to get them off! Our goal is to get participants riding on two wheels confidently by the end of the week. Safety is our priority - helmets will be provided for those that need them. Camp is limited to 12 participants.

Intro to Mountain Biking Camp
Johnson City Parks and Recreation and Trek Bicycle Corporation are partnering to offer this one-of-a-kind camp experience. Come learn the basics of mountain biking in this adrenaline fueled camp. Participants will learn a variety of skills while under close adult supervision. Trek bikes and helmets can be provided for those that need them. Safety is our priorityparticipants must be competent riders (i.e. must be able to ride through grass, travel in a straight line, and up short inclines). Camp supervisors will contact parents prior to camp to verify locations and schedules for drop-off/pick-up. Camp is limited to 15 participants. Bikers and Hikers Camp
This camp is for kids who love the outdoors and are looking for a fun way to get out and hike and bike! Each day we will venture to a new park. Participants must be competent bike riders (i.e. must be able to ride through grass or gravel, travel in a straight line and up short inclines). Please be prepared by bringing your bike and helmet on the days we are biking. Camp supervisors will contact parents prior to camp to verify locations and schedules for drop-off/ pick-up.

Mix-It-Up Sports Camp
Join us for a week of flag football, soccer, pickleball, wiffleball and more! Each day the campers will learn and play two different sports, and we will end our week at the Rotary Park Splash Pad.

Olympic Camp
Do you have what it takes to be an Olympian? Guests will teach us about different Olympic sports and give campers a chance to try them out. Wilderness Survival Camp - June 5-9
Attitude is everything when it comes to the outdoors. We will learn skills such as the ten essentials, shelter building, outdoor fire skills, smart trail food choices, water preparation, and more. As we hike, we will study interesting plants and animals that we find on the trails as they relate to survival. Our three field trips will emphasize moving quietly and ‘reading the woods’ with some cool-down swimming time.

We will explore how we are all connected to the natural world. Our speakers will cover topics such as ecosystems, food webs, animal adaptations, the incredible water cycle, tree identification and more. Our three field trips will explore the many connections in the natural world, swimming, watchable wildlife, picnics and more.
From snakes and salamanders to turtles, toads, and more, learn about the remarkable adaptations that reptiles and amphibians use to survive on land and in water. We hope to find some of the coolest critters on the planet as we explore our parks and meet some resident animals. Our three field trips will put us ‘out in the field’ where we should catch and release some herps while studying their habitats and

Creek Crawling and Pond Dipping CampJune 26-30
We live in the salamander capital of the world! Their noisier cousins, frogs and toads, live here as well. Many insects start out in water before becoming an adult. Let’s explore different habitats and meet some of these guys! Our field trips will enable us to spend time with some amphibians, aquatic insects, stream-side fieldwork and swimming.
Geology Rocks! Camp - July 10-14
Our local geographic area will be discussed with staff and incredible guest speakers as we learn about sinkholes, karst, gems, rock types, ground water flow and some cave critters. Three fantastic field trips will get us wet, let us explore a cave, learn about surface water, the awesomeness of bats, swimming and more!
Please bring an additional $6 for entry to the Appalachian Caverns and optional money for the gift shop.
Teen Adventure Quest - July 17-21
Join us for the challenge, a sense of belonging, and an opportunity to make incredible connections, as we hike, swim and explore. Get immersed in the outdoors as the week builds towards our grand finale of river rafting on the Nolichucky! This is a very action packed week that will allow you to test your limits as we explore our local area with daily field trips! Please bring an additional $12 for entry to the Appalachian Caverns GET MUDDY TOUR and optional money for the gift shop.

Musical Code of Liberation
Students will be introduced to creating music using Python programming language and block coding. Using the EarSketch platform, students will learn the language, write code, learn programming best practices, and create an original song. The goal of this camp is to introduce campers to computer science in a fun and engaging manner. At the end of camp, students will receive a flash collection of songs from each camper that elected to share with their peers. Camp is limited to 12 participants per session.

Camp Ability Camp Ability
This camp is part of the Therapeutic Recreation program and is designed for campers with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Join us for a week of classic summer camp activities! We will build new friendships, foster independence, and learn new skills through activities like sports, arts & crafts, group games, dance, and science experiments. All activities will be adapted so all campers can participate. Camper to staff ratio will be 1:2-3, therefore camp is limited to 12 participants. Once campers are registered, parents/guardians will be contacted to complete a camper assessment.
