The Race is Run! The Deerslayer, which was held at Winged Deer Park on April 16, drew 279 competitors and non-competitors for the city’s first 5K obstacle course race. Participants approached the start line with enthusiasm and sheer determination to prove they were up to the challenge of the grueling 3.1 mile course. The challengers ran, jumped, crawled, climbed, and slide their way to the finish line. Overall winner in the men’s division, Mantle Roth, ran the course in only 24 minutes and 34 seconds. Mary Salamone, winner in the women’s division, hit the finish line at 31 minutes and 56.2 seconds. The proceeds from the race will be used by the foundation to provide outreach and program support for adults 55+ through Senior Services. Next year’s event is set for April 1, 2017. Are YOU up for the challenge?
