The $8 million, 42,000-square-foot Anderson Family Strength & Conditioning Center features state-of-the-art weight training equipment, a cardiovascular workout area, meeting rooms and lockers. ACADEMICS The Student-Athlete Support Services staff focuses all collective resources in support of the academic, personal and interpersonal development of each individual it serves. As part of its commitment to the academic success of its athletes, Kansas Athletics completed a new academic complex in the summer of 2009. The facility features individual study rooms, a computer lab and offices for all Student-Athlete Support Services personnel. KANSAS ATHLETICS TUTORING PROGRAM • Tutoring is available to any student-athlete who needs academic assistance. • Approximately 120 tutors work for Kansas Athletics, many of whom are instructors or teaching assistants at KU or retired educators. Some tutors are undergraduate students who have excelled in their respective subject areas. • Kansas Athletics offers both individualized and small study group tutoring, based entirely upon the learning needs of each student-athlete. • Nearly 2,000 tutoring sessions are scheduled each week. • More than 300 student-athletes work with tutors each semester.

ALLEN FIELDHOUSE Allen Fieldhouse is labeled by many as one of the best places in America to watch a college basketball game; Hosts approximately 35 home basketball games (men and women combined) each year; Largest basketball arena in the state of Kansas and the second largest in the Big 12 Conference ANDERSON FAMILY FOOTBALL COMPLEX Completed in July 2008, now the headquarters of Kansas Football; Adjacent to Memorial Stadium, the two-level building includes offices, academic areas, a weight room, locker rooms, an audiovisual room, meeting rooms, a cardio room, a hydro-therapy room, a nutrition area and a display area; The stand-alone, 80,000 square-foot facility is the state-of-the-art centerpiece of a $33 million project, which also includes two practice fields and additional parking ANDERSON STRENGTH CENTER State-of-the-art weight room that helps KU compete with other universities for top studentathletes; $8 million, 42,000-square-foot complex

THE K RING The K Ring symbolizes a uniquely shared experience between generations of varsity letter winners at the University of Kansas. As a Jayhawk you are expected to uphold tradition and retain the characteristics of a champion while continuing the create your own legacy.

WAVING THE WHEAT Since the early days of KU sports, it has been a ritual of Jayhawk fans to “wave the wheat” following every Kansas scoring drive in football. The tradition also extends to Allen Fieldhouse where fans “wave the wheat” when an opponent fouls out and at the conclusion of every Jayhawk victory. The ritual consists of fans waving their arms in the air, an activity which, when done by a large crowd, resembles a breezy Kansas wheat field.

THE ROCK CHALK CHANT The Rock Chalk Chant has been the battle cry of KU fans for more than 80 years. This strange, traditional chant, which is among the most famous of all college cheers, was started by E.H.S. Bailey, a professor of chemistry. On May 21, 1886, Bailey submitted the cheer to his club.

CAMPANILE HILL Campanile Hill forms the picturesque backdrop for Memorial Stadium. On a sunny fall Saturday, the “Hill” is transformed into a congregating place for watching Jayhawk football, sunning and barbequing. Potter Lake, just to the southwest of Memorial Stadium and at the bottom of Campanile Hill, adds to the beauty of the Kansas campus.

THE ALMA MATER In 1891, professor George Barlow Penny searched for a school song for the Glee and Mandolin Club to sing on its tour through Kansas to Denver and back. No one responded with an original song in answer to his appeals. Just before departure, he thought of the Cornell song “Far Above Cayuga’s Waters.” Hastily changing a few words, he gave it to the glee club men to sing on the trip. He did not expect the song to be used after their return, but “Crimson and the Blue” still goes on. The music is not Cornell’s but an old English folk tune, “Annie Lisle.”

THE NICKNAME: JAYHAWK The University of Kansas is the home of the Jayhawk, a mythical bird with a fascinating history. Its origin is rooted in the historic struggles of Kansas settlers. The term “Jayhawk” was probably coined about 1848. Accounts of its use appeared from Illinois to Texas. The name combines two birds - the blue jay, a noisy, quarrelsome thing known to rob other nests, and the sparrow hawk, a stealthy hunter.

The university has more than 40 nationally ranked academic programs and is home to major centers overseeing research in life span issues, the humanities, the environment, biodiversity, and polar ice sheets. Tech reached the second round of the team competition in 2013’s NCAA Tournament, and their All-Big 12 duo of Samantha Adams and Kenna Kilgo reached the NCAA round of 16 in the doubles draw. Prior to his tenure at Texas Tech, Chapman earned Southland Conference Coach of the Year honors as head men’s and women’s coach at the University of Texas-Pan American (2001-03). He led UTPA to its first national ranking in 12 years and to a second-place finish in the Southland, the highest conference finish in the school’s history.

Chapman spent two years (1999-2001) as the head men’s and women’s coach at the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, an NAIA school in Chickasha, Oklahoma. There, his teams achieved national rankings of No. 17 (men) and No. 15 (women), and made back-to-back appearances in the NAIA Tournament.

Chapman earned success as a head coach at the high school level as well, leading Wichita Falls (Texas) High School to three-straight Class 4A state quarterfinals (2006-08). As a player at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, (1994-98), Chapman helped his team to four NCAA Division II Tournaments and a national ranking as high as No. 12. The two-time Lone Star Conference Scholar-Athlete achieved a national ranking in doubles as high as 17. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach (1998-99) for his alma mater’s men’s and women’s teams, both of whom were ranked in the Top 25. Chapman and his wife, Amy, have five daughters: Lauren, Madison, Katelyn, Avary and Karsen.

KATELYN, AVARY, KARSEN Todd Chapman wasted little time making his mark on the Kansas women’s tennis program. Chapman, who was named head women’s tennis coach at KU in June 2013, led the Jayhawks to their highest ranking in 14 years, as they checked in at as high as No. 33 during the 2013-14 season. Chapman, who helped coach Texas Tech to the 2012 and 2013 Big 12 regular-season titles, guided Kansas to eight-consecutive wins to open his inaugural season overseeing the Jayhawk program. Chapman followed up his impressive opening campaign at the helm of the KU program by leading the Jayhawks to their best Big 12 Conference finish in six years. KU collected four conference victories in 2015, including a road win over No. 29 Oklahoma. As an assistant coach at Tech for four years, Chapman helped elevate the Red Raiders from eighth place in the Big 12 in 2009 to the school’s first-ever bids to the NCAA Tournament in 2012 and 2013. Over his last three seasons in Lubbock he helped Tech achieve its highest national rankings

33 coach at Gonzaga, helping the Bulldogs to a 12-9 mark in 2014-15, including a win over No. 55 UC Irvine. Prior to joining the Gonzaga staff, Lilley was a volunteer assistant coach at Purdue. With the Boilermaker’s in 2012-13, the squad reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second time in school history. In addition, the team achieved a national ranking as high as No. 14, also the highest in school history.

Graduating with a business administration degree with a concentration in finance, Lilley left Georgia Tech with the second-best doubles winning percentage of any player. She compiled an impressive 38-17 record including a 20-7 mark in dual match play for a 69.1 winning percentage.

CAROLINE LILLEY

National recognition is nothing new for Lilley as she had an accomplished playing career at both Kentucky (freshman and sophomore) and Georgia Tech (junior and senior). As a player, Lilley was ranked in both singles and doubles competition with highs of No. 67 and No. 6, respectively.

As a senior at Georgia Tech, Lilley helped the club take down an eighth-ranked Alabama squad, 4-3, with a third-set come-from-behind thriller. Lilley claimed the final four games to earn her team the victory. As a junior, she posted a personal best 2612 record.

Kansas women’s tennis head coach Todd Chapman added an integral piece to his program when he announced the hiring of Caroline Lilley as assistant coach on May 13, 2015. Lilley joined the Jayhawk staff after a standout career as a player at Georgia Tech and a successful stint in a similar coaching role at Gonzaga. A Portland, Oregon native, Lilley brings with her a wealth of experience as both a coach and a player. Lilley spent the past two seasons as an assistant

2015 SPRING REVIEW In its second season under the leadership of head coach Todd Chapman, Kansas women’s tennis faced its toughest schedule in recent memory, which included 11 ranked opponents. The Jayhawk roster featured six fresh faces, who appeared in the line up regularly for Kansas.

in the singles to claim Kansas’ first victory over a ranked opponent in exactly one year.

KU recorded an 8-15 overall mark this season, including a 4-5 record in conference play. For the first time in three-years the Jayhawks were bounced out in the first round of the Big 12 tournament by No. 11 Oklahoma State.

After a thrilling victory over No. 49 Houston in its home opener Kansas traveled to Colorado for a two-match road trip where they dropped matches to both Colorado and Denver before heading home for a five-match home stand.

Kansas kicked off the spring season on Jan. 23 with a two-match road trip to Albuquerque, N.M. where they faced New Mexico and for the first time in program history South Carolina.

The Jayhawks recorded a 3-2 record during the five-match homestand which began when they picked up their second home victory to remain perfect at the Jayhawk Tennis Center after downing Iowa 4-1. Kansas then dropped a pair by falling 0-4, 1-4 to Texas Tech and TCU, respectively. KU then rebounded to pick up the final two matches and earn its first conference wins of the season by besting Iowa State 4-2 and blanking West Virginia 4-0.

KU would close out the 2014-15 season on the road with four-consecutive road matches against ranked opponents. Kansas first headed down to Oklahoma where they faced No. 9 Oklahoma State and were shutout by the Cowgirls. Kansas then traveled to Norman, Oklahoma where they stunned the No. 29 Sooners by defeating them, 4-3, picking up its second win over a ranked opponent this season. Kansas headed to Texas to take on Baylor on Texas for its last two regular-season matches. Kansas would end up falling to both the No. 8 Baylor Bears and No. 31 Texas.

After a successful stay in the confines of the Jayhawk Tennis Center for five matches Kansas traveled to Texas to take on SMU and North Texas. Kansas dropped both matches in 3-4 decisions.

The 2014-15 season would end for Kansas in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 championships when KU would fall to No. 11 Oklahoma State for the second time this season in a 4-0 decision.

Kansas was not able to secure a victory that weekend but traveled to Las Vegas the next week where they faced UNLV, New Mexico State and Pacific picking up its first two wins of the spring season by way of a 4-0 win over New Mexico State and a 6-1 win over Pacific. The Jayhawks then traveled to in-state rival Wichita State for a midweek contest where they dropped the match in a 4-3 decision. On Feb. 14 Kansas held its first home match of the season by hosting No. 49 Houston. In a thrilling match two of the six freshmen on the roster picked up wins

After a successful fall outing freshmen, Smith Hinton, Madison Harrison, Summer Collins, Alexis Czapinski, Rachel McNeely and Lauren Pickens carried much of the load for the young team. The Kansas squad returned two players from last year, senior Maria Belen Luduena and junior Maria Jose Cardona. The pair led the team in doubles last season with a team-high 15-10 record when paired together. For the first time in a 15-year span Kansas had not one, but two players earn Big 12 Player of the Week honors in Maria Belen Luduena and Smith Hinton.

in-state rival Kansas State and non-conference for Tulsa. The Jayhawks recorded their first win over Kansas State in six seasons after blanking the Wildcats, 4-0. KU could not hold on to that momentum and fell to Tulsa, 2-5, in its last home contest of the season.

2016 OUTLOOK Kansas women’s tennis will open its 2016 spring campaign with a boost of momentum after a strong 2015 fall campaign, capped by freshman Anastasiya Rychagova’s appearance at the United States Tennis Association (USTA)/ Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships. The Jayhawks will not field a team whose strength is in numbers as only seven players’ names are listed on the roster, but it is a team bursting with young talent in head coach Todd Chapman’s third season at the helm of the program. Kansas returns four players from last year’s team that finished sixth in the 2015 Big 12 Conference standings, its highest finish in six seasons. In addition, the Jayhawks added three outstanding players to its roster for the 2016 campaign; Nina Khmelnitckaia, Janet Koch and Rychagova, each

of whom figures to see a lot of action in their inaugural collegiate season. Despite the youth movement, Chapman likes the attitude of his team as it transitions into dualmatch play. “The attitude we approached the fall with was different than the two previous falls,” said Chapman. “We had three new, really talented freshmen and they didn’t know who was supposed to be good along the landscape of collegiate tennis. They just went to play. They did not know who was a good team or a good player so there wasn’t any building up of anyone before they played them. They just competed and that became contagious.” Even though six of their seven roster spots are filled by underclassmen, the Jayhawks do have

one experienced veteran in senior Maria Jose Cardona. The Santiago, Chile, native is coming off an injury that depleted her junior season. Cardona used the fall season to get back into shape for the upcoming grind of dual-match play. “Maria had a rough spring last year with injuries and wasn’t able to do much in the summer,” said Chapman. “This fall was about trying to get her healthy. I think it was a little harder for her because she wasn’t playing the tennis at the level she wants to play, but she was still a quiet leader.” A pair of sophomores in Summer Collins and Smith Hinton return to the KU lineup for the spring campaign after using the fall season to continue their growth following solid freshmen campaigns.

Collins, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, started a little slow in the fall, but picked up momentum, posting a 7-6 mark in singles play and a 6-6 ledger in doubles action.

While Collins’ improvement was visible on the scoreboard, Hinton’s development was more focused on how she approached each point. A Raleigh, North Carolina, native, Hinton’s work on her mental side of the game helped lead her to a 9-6 record in singles play, while she posted a 5-6 mark in doubles. “Smith’s growth came from more from a mentality standpoint,” said Chapman. “She is understanding what she wants to do on the court and not just playing points, she is thinking them. She is using her mind to win points. She had a few losses this fall but they were all really close and to really good players. Even though she had some losses she wishes she could have back, she gained confidence in what she is doing.” Alexis Czapinski, who did not see any action during the 2015 fall season, is another returning sophomore. Czapinski, who hails from Lawrence, contributed to the Jayhawks’ lineup late during the spring 2015 campaign, forging a 1-8 mark in singles play and a 5-10 ledger in doubles.

Throughout the 2015 fall season and heading into spring action, Chapman has been pleased with not only his team’s effort, but the chemistry they have created.

“That is the end goal. The beginning of the season will be about gaining confidence. We still have three freshmen who have never played in a dual match and until you experience that you really don’t know what it’s about. Hopefully we can gain some competitive confidence under our belt and move forward from there. Our overall goal is to push ourselves and not have any limitations.”

The 2016 schedule, which features 12 home matches, will pose many of its own challenges as 11 of the Jayhawks’ 22 opponents are ranked in the ITA’s Top 75 in its first set of rankings.

“If we stay healthy I believe we are an NCAA Tournament team and that is our goal,” said Chapman. “We have players who are capable making the individual side of the NCAA Tournament. Those are things that have not been done here in a long time and we are not shying away from that. We have a group that accepts that challenge and that is fun to see.

“As a group they are pushing each other,” said Chapman. “We are challenging them all to become vocal leaders and not rely on one person because we do have such a young team. That is the goal on a daily basis, to have them get out of their comfort zone as far as what they expect from their teammates and then they can positively affect each other as far as how they approach things. I have been pleased with how they have pushed each other.”

Despite the challenges of a demanding schedule and a predominantly young squad, Chapman is encouraged by what he has seen out of his team during the fall season and sees many big goals within its reach.

“Anastasiya is the hardest worker on our team,” said Chapman. “At the end of the fall she was

Khmelnitckaia, another Moscow native, collected double-digit wins as she posted a 10-4 singles mark and posted a 7-5 record in doubles play. Koch, who hails from Durbanville, South Africa, forged an 8-5 ledger in singles action and led all of the Jayhawks with a 9-3 doubles record.

“Our schedule allows us to get out and test ourselves right away,” said Chapman. “Arkansas (Jan. 29) and Purdue (Jan. 30) are two teams that are always in the NCAA Tournament, top 50 teams. Conference wise, we finished sixth in the Big 12 last year. We would like to finish in the top four this year. We want to continue to push forward in that area. It won’t be easy because I think the conference is as talented and deep as it has been in a long time, if not ever.”

In November, Rychagova was the first Jayhawk to be tabbed for the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships field since the ITA began sponsoring the event in 2005.

Rychagova, who was recently ranked No. 45 in the ITA singles rankings, leads the group of talented freshmen. In just a few short months on campus, she has made her presence felt. The Moscow, Russia, native posted an impressive 11-4 mark in singles play, while also combining with a couple of different Jayhawk teammates to register an 8-3 ledger in doubles action.

OUTLOOK

“Summer stayed here all summer and worked extremely hard,” said Chapman. “She went out in her first tournament this fall and did not play well. It was concerning because I did not want her to lose hope. A week later she had a bit of a breakthrough. Then she went to regionals and had a great tournament and followed that up with a great tournament at Texas Tech. For her it was just finally, for whatever reason, everything clicked. It was really fun to watch. There has been a huge elevation in her game from last spring to this fall. She is playing at a completely different level.”

Gray-Little led the effort to create new admission standards for the University of Kansas. These new standards take effect in 2016 and will give students and families a more accurate picture of what it takes to be successful at a research university. Under Chancellor Gray-Little’s leadership, the university has also revamped financial aid, creating four-year renewable scholarships and expanding the Jayhawk Generations Scholarship. And it has launched its first university-wide curriculum, the KU Core, which incorporates both classes and experiences, making KU a leader among its national peers.

Gray-Little has also been instrumental to Far Above: The Campaign for Kansas, KU Endowment’s $1.2 billion comprehensive fundraising campaign. Additionally, the university’s Changing for Excellence initiative is making administrative operations more efficient, with the savings being invested in education and research. As chancellor, Gray-Little is the chief executive officer of the university, overseeing campuses in Lawrence, Kansas City, Overland Park, Salina and Wichita, as well as research and educational centers in Garden City, Hays, Parsons, Pittsburg, Topeka and Yoder. Gray-Little was one of four university leaders selected to represent the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities at a White House summit on math and science education in January 2010. She is also on the board of trustees for the Online Computer Library Center, an international organization dedicated to expanding public access to information and research. Prior to becoming KU’s 17th Chancellor, GrayLittle held leadership positions at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, including executive vice chancellor and provost.

DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS Dr. Sheahon (SHAY-un) Zenger is a coach at heart. But when KU Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little introduced the Hays, Kan., native as KU’s Athletics Director January 3, 2011, he promised not to call any plays for the coaches. That doesn’t mean, though, that he won’t be right there with them – and their studentathletes – every step of the way. For it’s his genuine care for coaches and student-athletes that has stamped his career in intercollegiate athletics.

During the last two academic years – 2013-14 and 2014-15 – 11 KU teams were represented in NCAA postseason competition, the most KU appearances in one year in more than a decade.

Zenger’s career took several turns before landing in athletics administration. After playing football at Fort Hays State and Mid-American Nazarene College, and even before he finished his undergraduate degree at Kansas State, he was pursuing his dream of coaching by assisting the football coaches at Manhattan (Kan.) High School. His first college football coaching job came at Drake University right after graduation; he then joined Bill Snyder’s staff at Kansas State, serving in key roles as assistant recruiting coordinator and director of football operations. It became evident, though, that more than coaching was in store for Zenger. He came to KU to earn his Ph.D. in educational policy and leadership, while strengthening his understanding of university leadership at the highest levels. Still, coaching stayed in his blood. He joined the football staff at the University of South Florida and then at the University of Wyoming before returning to Kansas State, eventually serving as KSU’s associate athletics director for development. He held that position until becoming Athletics Director at Illinois State in 2005.

Zenger served for three years on the NCAA Division I Committee on Student-Athlete Reinstatement. He also served on two NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Division committees, and was a member of the Executive Committee of NACDA’s Division I FCS Athletic Directors Association. He is married to the former Pam McAnarney; they have three children: Luke, Abby and Jake.

Zenger has spearheaded a tremendous upgrade in Kansas Athletics’ facilities as well – improvements he expects will help KU’s coaches and student-athletes continue their run of outstanding performances. Most notable among these is the completion of Rock Chalk Park, which contains new, state-of-the-art stadiums for KU’s Track & Field, Soccer and Softball programs. Memorial Stadium has received a facelift as well. In summer 2014 the track surrounding the football field was removed, replaced with new artificial turf, bringing the turf to within 10 feet of the stands. In addition, construction is underway on the DeBruce Center, the permanent home of James Naismith’s original “Rules of Basket Ball,” adjacent to historic Allen Fieldhouse. Finally, the beautiful new McCarthy Hall, which houses the men’s basketball team and an equal number of

Zenger came to KU after serving for five years as athletics director at Illinois State University, helping steer ISU Athletics to a place of prominence in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Redbirds won a conference-leading seven league titles during the 2009-10 season and captured their second Valley All-Sports Trophy in three years. ISU also reached highs in fundraising, academics and community service during Zenger’s tenure there.

NCAA COMPLIANCE

As a fan of KU Athletics, it is important to become familiar with NCAA, Big 12 and Kansas Athletics Compliance rules. *This list is not exhaustive. Please contact the Kansas Athletics Compliance Office if you have any questions about your possible status as a booster. Once an individual or entity is deemed to be a booster it carries that status forever. PROSPECTIVE STUDENT-ATHLETES A prospective student-athlete is anyone who has entered the ninth grade. Impermissible activities with a prospective student-athlete include: --Having any type of recruiting communication with them. This includes conversations, letters and messages. --Conducting any evaluation of their physical ability on behalf of the Kansas coaching staff. --Contacting the prospective student-athlete. Getting involved without consent from the compliance office could jeopardize the eligibility of the prospective student-athlete. Kansas Athletics is responsible for the actions of its boosters and fans and is always available to answer any questions regarding permissible recruiting activities. EMPLOYMENT OF A STUDENT-ATHLETE Employment of a student-athlete is permissible, provided all six (6) of the following conditions are met: 1. Student-athlete is only paid for the work actually performed; 2. Student-athlete is paid at the rate commensurate with the going rate in that locale for similar services; 3. Student-athlete may not be compensated in any manner for any value or utility that he or she may have for an employer because of any publicity, reputation, fame, or personal following that he or she may have obtained because of his or her athletics ability;

GAMBLING ACTIVITIES NCAA rules prohibit student-athletes and athletic department staff members from participating in any sports gambling activity or providing information concerning competitions to individuals involved in organized gambling activities. Additionally, it is a violation of federal law for boosters, student-athletes, or staff members to tamper with the outcome of a collegiate contest. Please do not ask any studentathletes or staff members for information regarding student-athlete performance/injuries. PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES – STUDENT-ATHLETES --Student-athletes are not eligible for participation in intercollegiate athletics if he/she accepts compensation, or permits the use of his/her name or pictures to promote a commercial enterprise. --A student-athlete’s name or picture may not be used to advertise, recommend, or promote directly the sale or use of a commercial product or service of any kind. --If a student-athlete’s name or picture appears on commercial items (t-shirts, playing cards, posters, photographs, etc.) or is used to promote a commercial product without the student-athlete’s knowledge or permission, the student-athlete and the institution are required to take steps to stop such an activity in order to retain the student-athlete’s eligibility. EXTRA BENEFITS An extra benefit is any special gift or arrangement provided to a student-athlete, or student-athlete’s friend or family member which is not available to the general KU student body or the general population. Should a prospective student-athlete or current student athlete receive an extra benefit they will be ineligible for competition. EXAMPLES OF EXTRA BENEFITS (THIS IS NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST) Prospective Student-Athletes and Enrolled StudentAthletes --Cash or loans in any amount --Assistance with paying bills, rent, mortgages, loans or the co-signing of a loan --Use of an automobile or transportation --Admission to an event (e.g., movies, athletic events, banquets, clubs, special events/parties, concerts, etc.) --Gifts of any kind, including those on special occasions such as birthdays, religious holidays, graduation, etc. --Free or reduced-cost services, rentals, or purchases of any type (e.g., meals, drinks, clothing, laundry, haircuts, legal fees, tattoos, golf, car repairs, etc.) --Free or reduced-cost housing for any length of time --Entertainment --Awards --Use of your telephone or credit card

--Providing them a meal --Academic assistance of any kind (e.g., tutoring, editing papers/projects, assistance in completing class work, use of computer, etc.) RECRUITING INDUCEMENT A recruiting inducement under NCAA rules is any special gift or arrangement provided to a prospective student-athlete that is not available to the general population. The arrangement of such a benefit would be considered an improper inducement to encourage the eventual enrollment of a prospective studentathlete at KU. NCAA RULES Top 10 Things Fans & Friends of Kansas Athletics Should Know About NCAA Rules: 1. The NCAA holds Kansas accountable for the actions of its fans and friends. This means that if you are involved with NCAA violations (known or unknown), Kansas may have to forfeit games, entire seasons, scholarships, recruiting opportunities, or may be prohibited from participating in post-season competition. 2. You may send information about prospects to Kansas Athletics coaching staff members. 3. You may continue established relationships with friends and neighbors whose children are prospects or current student-athletes, provided the relationship predates high school and is not based on his/her status an athlete (must register with Compliance). 4. You may not be involved in recruiting prospective student- athletes on behalf of Kansas Athletics. A prospective student- athlete is defined as a student who has started classes for the ninth grade or above. 5. You may not become involved in arranging for a prospect, a Kansas student-athlete, or a Kansas student- athlete’s friends or family to receive money or financial assistance of any kind. 6. You may not provide transportation to a prospect, student- athlete, or his/her friends and family. 7. You may not spend funds to entertain prospects, student- athletes, or his/her friends and family. 8. You may not use a photo or name of a studentathlete for commercial purposes or sell student-athlete memorabilia. 9. Breaking NCAA rules can render prospects and student-athletes ineligible to compete on behalf of Kansas Athletics. 10. Always ask before you act!

COMPLIANCE

BOOSTER DEFINED A booster is any individual, independent agency, corporate entity (e.g., apparel or equipment manufacturer), or other organization that is known to: --Hold, or have ever held, season tickets for any sport with Kansas Athletics; --Have participated in, or to be a member of, an agency or organization promoting any Kansas Athletics program (e.g., University of Kansas Alumni Association, K Club, sport booster groups, etc.); --Have made financial contributions to the athletics department or to an athletics booster organization of that institution (e.g. Hardwood Club, booster groups, etc.); --Be assisting, or to have assisted in, providing benefits to enrolled student-athletes or their families, which would trigger booster status under NCAA rules. These benefits include, but are not limited to, financial assistance, use of a car, use of a cell phone, etc.; --Provide allowable benefits (e.g., summer jobs) to enrolled student-athletes; or --Promote Kansas Athletics in any way.

4. Student-athletes must register all jobs during the academic year and the summer by completing the Student-Athlete Employment Form and returning it to the Athletics Compliance Office prior to beginning work; 5. Proof of earnings is required and all studentathletes must submit a pay stub at the end of their employment. All paperwork must be submitted along with a verification of earnings; and 6. Employers MUST confirm their employment of Kansas Athletics student-athletes prior to the studentathletes’ employment.
