TheNORDIC GOLF TOUR

COPENHAGEN – OSLO – LOFOTEN – STOCKHOLM – HELSINKI 21 AUGUST - 7 SEPTEMBER 2025

Welcome to our showpiece tour for 2025!

The mystic Viking countries of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, along with Finland have always been on our radar to play golf so we have been planning a special tour for some time. To join us we are inviting a group of PaR nz favourites who have travelled and supported us over many tours. Thank you – we hope our Nordic Golf Tour captures your imagination and you come join us.

We start in Copenhagen, Denmark for three nights with golf at two esteemed courses: The Scandinavian – two masterpieces from Robert Trent Jones Jnr – New and Old 18-hole championship courses.

Copenhagen’s landmarks such as the Tivoli Gardens, the Little Mermaid statue, the Amalienborg and Christiansborg Palaces, Rosenborg Castle, Frederik’s Church, Børsen and many museums, restaurants and nightclubs are significant tourist attractions. And did we mention it’s home to some of the best pastries in the world?

We then fly to Oslo, Norway’s capital, (flights included) for three nights with golf at Oslo GK and Miklagard.

Oslo is home to the leading Norwegian cultural institutions of the National Theatre and the Norwegian Opera. Many scientific institutions are attached to the University of Oslo. The University’s Aula, or Hall, was decorated by the painter Edvard Munch. Oslo is known for its fantastic architecture, infamous Viking history, and outdoor activities, among many other things. Our first night will be spent on a dinner cruise up the Oslo Fjord – to get a feel of the city from the water.

By air we travel north (flights included) to the Lofoten Archipelago to enjoy three special nights in Lofoten Links. The area is known for its dramatic arctic scenery, Viking history and colourful Norwegian villages.

For the golf, there are few places, if any, where a golfer gets tested against the elements as much as they do at Lofoten Links. Built into the rugged landscape, Lofoten Links combines its wild and wonderful surroundings with a worldclass golf course.

This is a spectacular 18-hole links course opened in the summer of 2015 and is situated in a remote spot along the rugged coast of the island of Gimsøya, in the northern reaches of Norway, where golf can be played 24-hours a day during the months of June and July.

The course is set out by the seaside with the ocean as a water hazard on several holes and sandy beaches as natural bunkers on others. The signature hole arrives early at the 140m 2nd, where the two-tiered green sits on a small rocky outcrop, fronted by a solitary pot bunker. This will be a highlight – among many! Two rounds here are booked – it will be worth it!

We have also scheduled a tour to Henningsvær located 30 minutes east of Svolvær. Comprised of a number of islets spread among the waters of Vjestfjord, Henningsvær has the most well-preserved architecture of the traditional Norwegian villages, quirky cafés and restaurants, the Hus Gallery, and a burgeoning adventure scene.

Henningsvær is a wonderful place to visit with its colourful buildings lining the harbour and the steep mountains of Austvågøya providing a dramatic backdrop.

Off then to Stockholm, for four nights including golf and a full day sightseeing in the capital city of the Kingdom of Sweden.

Stockholm, surely one of the most handsome capitals in the world, is built on 14 islands connected by 57 bridges. The beautiful buildings, the greenery, the fresh air and the proximity to the water are distinctive traits of this city.

Golf in Stockholm includes rounds on the private courses of Ullna and Bro Hof Slott.

Our last port of call is Helsinki, Finland. We travel in Deluxe A Category Cabins overnight and then enjoy three nights in this humming capital. Two final games of golf await at Vuosaari and Kytaja.

Helsinki has transformed into a vibrant cultural hub and is well-known for its innovative art, culture, and architecture. Attractions like the new Central Library Oodi, art museums such as Kiasma, Amos Rex, and Helsinki Art Museum (HAM), as well as concert and event venues like Musiikkitalo, Opera, and Finlandia Hall, are all located within a 1 sq km area.

It is also no surprise that underneath the city’s surface, a unique subculture is on the rise, and while techno music and underground dance parties are nothing new for Helsinki, what is notable is the vast number and variety of these events – maybe a night out to explore some of these?

A final note – while Scandinavia has a rich and colourful golfing history, and names like Viktor Hovland, Henrik Stenson, Anika Sörenstam, and Thomas Bjorn are well known on the PGA Tours, the four countries are relatively new to golf tourism. The clubs are passionately private and some tee times and final arrangements will not be known until later this year or early 2025. Any changes to the planned itinerary will be advised as and when we receive confirmations from the clubs. Any new or altered courses will be matched to the highest standard of the planned inclusions.

Have we got you hooked yet? Read on, check out the courses in detail and make sure you note the hotels included – some of the best that Scandinavia has to offer.

Thank you, sincerely so much, for your support in the past years – we look forward to seeing you in Copenhagen next August. Hope so.

The Scandinavian Club –Old & New Courses

Denmark

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr with Bruce Charlton

Est. 2010 Old Course / 2011 New Course

Tree lined, open parkland on both courses. Undulating terrain – and watch out for the water.

Points of interest:

• The award-winning clubhouse, designed by Henning Larsen Architects, overlooks both courses. It offers a blend of contemporary Scandinavian design, rustic feel, modern amenities and a unique collection of artwork.

• Rankings: 2nd best in Denmark, Golf Digest 2022; 40th best in Continental Europe, Golf World 2023.

• Home to Soren Kjeldsen who along with Thorbjorn Olesen, won the 2016 World Cup of Golf – the first Danish professionals to do so.

Did you know?

The golf courses are located in the former training grounds of Farum Barracks. It was established by Peter Frithjof Bang, Torben Wind and Jesper Balser, who after having sold the IT company Navision bought the 200+ hectare area in 2002

After four years of negotiating with the local community, RTJ II with president and principal designer Bruce Charlton, spent the following four years developing two sand capped golf courses with more than 100km of drainage, 2000 irrigation heads all fed from surface water in large lakes on just 25 percent of the

exceptional area packed with fauna and flora. Rain will not stop play as the drain will carry away up to 100mm of water per hour.

The award-winning club house stands on a small plateau. Its most distinctive feature is the sculptural roof, which relies on traditional Scandinavian stave churches for inspiration. The materials used are mainly Douglas-Pine, slate, glass and Tombak.

This is a significant development – we will enjoy!

One of the big championship courses of Norway with rolling elevation changes – note bunkers are deep and plentiful and the greens fast and undulating.

Points of interest:

• Located close to Klofta town which has deep roots back to the Viking Age. Miklagard was named the Great City by the Vikings after they first sailed in and gasped at the huge city walls that they faced.

• Rankings: 2nd best course in Norway by Golf Digest 2022; 62nd best in Continental Europe, Golf World 2023.

Lofoten Links

Norway

Est. 1994

A rising star amongst Europe’s must plays – spectacular, scenic and a natural links course located inside the Arctic Circle on the island of Gimsoya on Lofoten.

Points of interest:

• Originally a 6-hole course and then to 9 and now 18 thanks to the island’s family, the Frode Hovs, who own the course.

• Rankings: #1 in Norway by Golf Digest 2022; 5th best in Continental Europe, Golf World 2023.

Bro Hof Slott Stadium

Sweden

Est. 2007

One of two courses on the Bro Hof complex – the Stadium is a relatively flat course – located by Lake Malaren. Water from the lake, ponds and various streams mean most holes need careful navigation.

Points of interest:

• One of a few courses that off the back tees measure more than 8,000 yards – 8,045 to be exact, or 7,357 metres. In the nearby environs is a baroquestyle castle, Bro Hof Slott, that dates back to 1888.

• Rankings: #1 in Sweden by Golf Digest 2022; 25th best in Continental Europe by Golf World 2023.

Bro Hof Slott

Redesign by Jack Nicklaus in 2011, from the original layout by Sven Tumba Est. 1981

Arguably one of Sweden’s most attractive courses located alongside Lake Ullna – note many greens jutting out to the lake, somewhat precariously. The bunkers are a real feature, stylish and with whole sand reminiscent of Augusta sand.

Points of interest:

• Host to many European Tour tournaments including the European Tour HO Open won by Annika Sorenstam.

• Rankings: #5 in Sweden, by Golf Digest 2022; 94th best in Continental Europe by Golf World 2023.

Vuosaari Golf is a straightforward high quality golf course - 18-hole course located near the sea and recognised as a Scottishstyle Links course. The club offers a long season of golf, well into the autumn on the sand-filled course.

Point of interest:

• While accepted as a links course, the fairways have been entirely manufactured, originally the site of an old dumping ground. Some areas have been raised by over 20m from old levels.

• Ranking: 5th best in Finland, Golf Digest 2020.

Two great courses in this club – North-West and South-East, which we will play. The front 9 play through a spacious forest landscape with some distinctive elevation changes. The back 9 includes several holes alongside Lake Kytaja.

Point of interest:

• Tom McBroom is a Canadian architect that is known for his many courses in Canada with both courses at Kytaja representative of his work back in his home country.

• Rankings: #1 course in Finland, Golf Digest 2022; 90th best in Continental Europe, Golf World 2023.
