The One for hands-on experience Placements At York St John University we offer a range of placement opportunities to suit you and your course. Our dedicated Careers, Placements and Student Opportunities team is here to help you every step of the way.
Professional placements Some of our courses include compulsory placements, such as Physiotherapy and Primary Education. Our team of experts will source a placement that is right for you and meets the course requirements, making sure there are no barriers to your success.
Work-related learning Many of our courses have integrated work experience modules with a 15 day placement related to your course. They are a great way to dip your toe into the world of work, try something new and build a valuable network. The team has fantastic links with local industries to help you find a work placement that is right for you.

Year in industry placements These placements are available on almost all of our courses. They are your chance to try a career and see if it fits. They will build your confidence and give you a true taste of working life. But here, we do them a little differently. You can settle onto your course before you decide whether a placement year is for you. If you choose this option we will give you the tools you need to succeed in the recruitment process. Our Careers, Placements and Student Opportunities team help you to make the most of your experience. They offer placement preparation sessions to help you with your CV, practice interview skills and connect with employers. While on placement you will have full access to university services and our team is always on hand to help and advise. It’s all part of our flexible, tailored approach.
