LAW, CRIME AND SOCIETY We offer courses in these subject areas:

Law | Sociology, Criminology and Policing The range of subjects we offer allows you to study in specialist areas or combine modules in various ways to suit your career ambitions. Our academic staff are known for their expertise in research and are on the pulse with industry developments. Our smaller classes also enable our lecturers to get to know you as an individual. Enhance your interpersonal skills in our specialist workshop spaces. Gain experience of problem solving, teamwork and leadership and draw knowledge from staff publishing work in the fields of murder, terrorism and political violence, sex work and more.

The modules of the course follow the National Policing Curriculum. Our Law course has excellent links with local legal practitioners, providing you with an excellent learning experience. As well as your classes, there are a range of law-related extracurricular activities for you to get involved in, such as the Student Law Society, debating and mooting, mock trials, presentation activities, practical legal problem solving and legal research.

From 2020, as a police officer you will be required to hold a professional qualification in policing to be confirmed as a police constable in England and Wales. Our Degree in Professional Policing is delivered
