UNDERGRADUATE PROSPECTUS

POLITICS, RELIGION AND PHILOSOPHY We offer courses in these subject areas:

International Relations | Philosophy and Ethics | Politics | Religion and Theology When you study philosophy, theology, international relations or politics, you explore what it means to be human. What makes individuals and societies behave the way they do? How do ideologies originate, develop and influence our lives? Tackling huge questions like these not only shows future employers that you are not afraid to take on complex problems, it will also change the way you see the world. We will challenge you to respond to contentious ethical debates around morality, suffering, genetic engineering, medical intervention, social justice, state surveillance, feminist ethics, human rights and globalisation. Learning to consider different points of view and construct your own reasoned argument is an incredibly valuable skill, both in your career and in life.

The topics you study aren’t confined to theoretical debate – they address issues with significant contemporary relevance and practical implications. You will consider, debate and respond to some of the most pressing issues of our time; from climate change to international state security. In an era of fake news and growing intolerance, it is more important than ever to develop religious literacy, a solid understanding of global politics and an empathetic appreciation of other ways of thinking.

Politics and International Relations can be studied alongside another complementary subject area, such as History or War Studies.
