Change...
“
The only constant in life is change,” this quote can’t be any truer. If you ask me, I would say that there is absolutely nothing more terrifying in this world than change. There is war, loss, poverty, injustice and many other things that seem more horrible in the world, but when you come to think of it, change is a big part of every agony. If you watch a story about a war zone, you often see the before and after mass, and the change strikes us the most. And in time of loss or grief, the memories of how it used to be hunt the person forever. Even when the change is for the better, our attachment to our current state rapidly takes us to the flight mood; oh hello cold feet... The concept of change is very much linked to the fear of the unknown. Whether the change is for better or worse, what really scares me is the idea of too many variables existing all of a sudden; and of course the more sudden and unpredictable the change is, the harder it’s going to be to adapt and adjust. What puzzles me the most about change is that no matter how many scenarios I think of, change always one step ahead of me, and things takes a turn in the only scenario that hasn’t even crossed my mind. It’s like destiny is playing a game with me, proving its superiority over my thoughts. And speaking of destiny, I believe that change is also the one thing that all of our destinies tend to intertwine over. When you think of it, life is just a rollercoaster of changes; sometimes things force us to change, other times, we change and things around us sort of respond. Either way, it’s so damn terrifying, at least for me. You lecture me endlessly about embracing change and the thrill of jumping into the unknown, but it won’t make it any less frightening. I’m super anxious by default, and I know there are bunch of you who feel the same way..
Sincerely,
Noha Kandil 8 | February 2016

here must be something very magical and soothing about growing up in Lebanon, which just inspire fashion designers to do those mesmerizing Silhouettes. Fashion Designer, Tony Ward, is among the Lebanese natives that charm us with their beautiful creations. Following his father’s footsteps, and growing up surrounded by God’s incomparable nature of Lebanon coupled together with his pure love for design and art, Ward studied the profession at L’Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, Paris; and he successfully launched his own label and very first collection in 1997. Going through his Fall Winter 2015/2016 collection, we couldn’t help but fall in love with his delicate lines and the tastefulness in his choice of fabrics. The collection is absolutely stunning! Dior’s AW couture collection is a manifestation of an artistry collision. For this collection, the current creative direction of the iconic fashion house, Raf Simons, was mainly inspired by the “Flemish masters and their approach to painting.” Through the collection, Simons tried to convey innocence and luxury as two contrasted concepts; and wanted to reflect the ongoing tension between minimalism and the embracement of luxury. Simons was also inspired by history through the years and the change of design influences through the years, and he further explains saying “I have repeatedly been inspired by the gestural quality of Mr. Dior’s Work. The historical impact is pulled back into reality and this, for me, is what makes something modern. The venue, in many ways, is like a modernist, pointillist church; it’s the place where all of these concerns come together.”

Treat Yourself to Some Shopping this Valentine’s We are quite aware that Valentine’s Day is all about love and expressing emotions to your significant other, but what if you haven’t found your other half yet? Does that mean you miss out on all the fun? Of course not! We believe that there is no love more important and valuable than that you give to yourself ! Whether you’re single, married, engaged, or stuck in the “it’s complicated” phase, you should treat yourself to some pampering; and nothing said “I Love me” than some serious shopping.

SPOTTED CELEBS LATEST NEWS & GOSSIP
The ‘Friends’ Reunion is not really a Reunion After all The news of the ‘friends’ reunion had broke the interned. Fans of the iconic tv show were thrilled when NBC announced that the cast will be reunited for a two-hour special in honor of Director James Burrows. However, there is unfortunately a little hitch; our beloved Chandler Bing, played by Actor Matthew Perry won’t be joining the cast due to other commitments; he will be announcing them instead from London! So it’s not really the “reunion” that we were hoping for after all..

Celebrities are Boycotting the Oscars! Oscars’ 2016 nominations have stirred up quite the controversy over lack of diversity, which triggered an unprecedented reaction from A-list stars calling for boycotting the prestigious academy awards. Many celebrities where astonished that the nominees chosen are mostly white, and due to the rising ongoing racism issues and the “Black Lives Matter” movement spreading against racism, several celebrities, including Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, have decided to take an action. 32 | February 2016
The 45-year-old American singer has announced her engagement to the Australian Billionaire James Paker, after what many is calling a “fairytale love story.” The couple has been close friends since 2014, at time when the multi-Grammy award winner artist was still married to Nick Cannon. What is surprising about their love story is that according to some reports, Carey and Paker are still married to other people, and their divorces are yet to be finalized.

Makeup Hacks By: AMINA METWALLY
As girls we sometimes don’t have the luxury of time to spend hours in front of the mirror to get our makeup done, we all need some tricks to ensure you get your makeup ready and get the look you are looking for. Here are some of the tricks that can be used: 1. Turn your eye pencil/kohl into a gel liner: All you need is a lighter; place the tip of the pencil over the flame for one second then start applying, this can also make it easier to smudged it if needed to get a smoky look.
34 | February 2016
2. Make your eye shadow standout with white eyeliner: If you really want your eye shadow to pop, all you have to do is apply white eyeliner over your eyelid then apply your eye shadow; this will intensify the color.
3. Makeup lighting: To avoid excessive makeup, apply your makeup in natural day light. In case it’s unavailable make sure the light in the room your are using is white light, as yellow light will always make you feel that the makeup is soft and you will keep applying; you will be surprised with how heavy it is when going under proper light
6. Re-moisturize Mascara: Sometimes we get mascara and before it expires it dries up, don’t throw it. Instead, add a few drops of saline solution. This will make it moist and it will work as well as it did when you first bought it.
4. Create natural contouring: It can be difficult to figure out where to put blush or bronzer for contouring. The easy way is to use your eyeliner pencil, or even a makeup brush handle. Place the straight edge directly below your cheekbone to get the right angle
5. Forget getting your teeth stained with your lipstick: After applying your lipstick, put your finger in your mouth or with a rolled tissue. Close your lips around your finger, and then pull your finger out. The excess lipstick will get on your finger, and not on your teeth. February 2016 | 35
Beauty Hair
It’s Cold Outside Let’s Keep that Hair Radiant
Wash it Less
The Right Cover Up
Daily hair wash is a habit for most people; and hygiene speaking, it's a good habit to have. However, in winter, frequent washing is not preferred as it adds to the dryness of the hair in the cold weather. Also, you should wait till your hair is dry before heading out, because the cold will just add to the damage of a wet moisture hair.
Covering your hair is considered a fashion statement in winter, and it will also protect you from the messy windy weather and rain. Whether you go for casual hoodie, a beanie, a turban, whatever it is, unfortunately it will take its toll on your hair as well, especially if it includes high level of synthetics. To lessen the damage, try to aim for more natural materials that would be less harsh when rubbed against your hair, like silk for an example.
Heat Won't Help Yes we know that any source of heat looks so tempting during the winter season, but it really won't help with the dryness of your hair. Avoid washing your hair with hot water, make it warm instead. Hot air blow dryers and sizzling hair strengtheners would add to the damage of your hair especially when exposed to the cold weather afterward.
Frequent Trimming Now this is an easy trick; sometimes no matter how many precautions you take, split ends will still win leaving your hair looking tired and damaged. So throughout the winter season, frequent trimming and getting rid of those damage split ends would help you maintain a fresher look during the cold season.

Save Some for the Summer All women love to invest in their hair, and follow the latest styling trends and colors to look their best; however, many of the hair styling techniques, especially those including color changing and contouring include a lot of chemicals, which will further tire our hair particles. So it's highly recommended to stick to maintenance and basic treatments during winter, and save the extreme new looks for the summer.
Argan Oil Argan oil is highly recommended for keeping the hair healthy during cold weather. Due to excessive dryness, dandruff increases, so applying argan oil would maintain a healthier scalp and reduces the itchy feeling.
Faces of Egypt 2- Your designs are mostly known for being authentic high quality handmade products. Where did you learn the technical part? I don’t remember being taught, or taking any courses in that area. I think talent and having a real desire to do something is all you need to learn it. I remember going to the Jews alley just to see craftsmen working and try to gather as many skills as I could, in addition to getting several books to learn more about the craft. 3- One of the common issues that faces designers nowadays is lack of proper craftsmanship . How do you tackle this problem? Well, personally I prefer to teach them myself the proper and specific techniques I want. In some cases, when you hire a craftsman/worker with a prior knowledge, it’s harder for him to adjust his methods to the way I see proper to my design approach. 4- So does that mean that teaching the craft on a larger scale might be an option in the future? Definitely! I’ve been wanting to do it for a while, and hopefully it will be done this year. I want to teach youth the skill and the craft on a professional level.
Step into the world of
Sami Amin by: Noha Kandil
1- I know that you were studying architecture when you first started designing accessories; how the two fields intersect? I consider them as one; both fields belong to the visual arts category. I’ve been sketching even before I enter college, and it happened that when I graduated there weren’t many architecture job opportunities, so I started to take the accessories part more seriously. It’s it was destined to be my path from the beginning. 38 | February 2016
5- Speaking of your design approach, I was wondering if you have a dominant inspiration that impact all your designs? I am mostly impacted by the Egyptian culture with all its history, and since the Pharaonic era is considered to be the longest and most culturally condensed and intriguing, you’ll find many designs inspired by that era as well. 6- What about your latest collection? Can you tell us the story behind it? I’ve always had a special admiration for the sun; I have it as my logo, and even my daughter is named ‘Shams’ (sun in Arabic); so my initial intention was to do a collection solely inspired by the sun, but then I developed the inspiration focus to incorporate the sky as a whole with its elements, including the stars, moon, angels, rainbows, etc. I’ve also been inspired by the Pharaonic sky deity/goddess “Nut;” I’ve always been intrigued with its surreal artistic shape so I incorporated in several pieces.
7- Leather and brass are quite common in all you designs; is there a reason behind? And do you have a favorite? I’ve been using both materials for so long by now I believe I have complete understanding to their nature. I know their properties and how to model them into my designs. Also, one of my main design principles is to use natural materials only.
10- How do you find the balance between satisfying your artistic creativity and meeting the market/customers’ needs? My creation process is independent, I don’t exactly make pieces based on the market. I do however listen to my customers’ needs in terms of usage and practicality; so for instance, if I find that adding more zippers would be more practical for them, I’ll do so.
8- Could the handmade factor be limiting in implementing some of the designs? Not really; the handmade elements give my products more authenticity. Also, handmade products are easier repair, which is something that my costumers really appreciate.
12-What’s next for Sami Amin? Are there any collaborations in the cards? OR Maybe a ready-to-wear collection? I don’t mind collaborations; I think it will be an exciting experience and will add to Sami Amin as a business. I already collaborated with a designer from Paris in doing a bag, which opened my eyes to a simplistic and minimalistic design approach that turned out to be a hit. For the ready-to-wear part, I believe focusing is very important to succeed; it’s just not my thing. Also, hopefully I’ll have more solid presence abroad as well.
9- Since Egypt is your main inspiration, I figure that the instability that we’ve been facing must get to you. As an artist, how much that affects your creativity? The conditions are sadly not so good in the country; however, I try to do my job and role in the society. I try to maintain the artistic nature of my products, and reflect the Egyptian history and culture the best way I can.
13- Do you have an advice for new designers? I don’t think advice is needed here. If he/she has real passion for it they won’t be able to stop; it will be as if their whole existence depends on it. February 2016 | 39

Styling tip: Create color palettes • When I decorate an interior for a private home I always work with color palettes. It’s good to choose 3 or 4 colors to work with for the furniture, color on the wall or accessories. • To play with the colors you can create a balanced room. In this bedroom I choose a soft pastel color palette with pink, beige, white and camel.

Styling tip: White bench next to the bed • In front of the bed I put a white small bench. You can use this bench when you want to wear your socks or shoes, or you can use it for extra decoration and storage ideas. I put some jewelry on a wooden plate and some scarves in the round basket.

Styling tip: Use green in your home! • I am a big fan of green. Green gives every room a lively and cozy atmosphere. In this room I put a plant hanger with a copper bowl. Also a big plant next to the bed in a painted terracotta pot. Beside the bed on the small tables in put some small cacti. I like to play with various green for, again, a balanced look.
Styling tip: Small tables Shopping tips: • The beautiful bedcover from fair trade Egypt is a beautiful eye-catcher in this room and a good mix with the plant hangers, tables and decoration from my shop 'bintihomeshop.nl.' Find some unique pieces from Old Cairo with character and mix this with some new design pieces of a sophisticated and personal atmosphere.
• In the living room or next to the bed as a ‘nightstand’. Small wooden tables can be used in different rooms in your home. I like it when the tables are different in height and color so you can create a playful look.

Travel Together... Stay Together BY: FADY HANNA

T
he feeling of being in love is pleasant and having this kind of a romantic relationship keeps you thinking all the time about your “other half ”. Other symptoms for this phenomenon would be an increase in the rate of your heart beats when seeing the one you love and maybe you would stay up all night just thinking about them. All this controls you and becomes part of you; you can’t live without it. All those feelings are true but I can tell you that you can fall in love with traveling too and get quite the same feelings! You can be day dreaming about your next destination or thinking all day long about planning your next adventure. In fact, traveling with your partner specially on adventure trips will give a totally different dimension to your relationship!
Yes, you can really fall in love with traveling and this is not cheating by the way! It has also nothing to do with the loyalty to your partner. Actually, you can get addicted to traveling and still love your partner. It can be in your blood and you can’t help it but travel! You can fall in love with a country, a city or a culture or a combination of those. I believe that couples who love to travel are the best couples ever. Don’t worry if your partner is a travel addict. They also shouldn’t be jealous because you love to travel too. It’s like a pet that you can both fall in love with and if you do, you’ll be loved back by the joy of exploring our amazing planet. So, travel together guys! I urge you to do that for many many reasons, and here are five incentives to get you started:
Having a Common Target
You will have one common target which is exploring and traveling the world together. This will strengthen your connection and communication as you’ll be having a common purpose that both of you have decided to go for! What’s more pleasing than following your passion with the love of your life?
Creating Memories Together
Traveling will add some sort of a thrill to your life. It’s not going to be a routine that can be boring at some point. Your life will be more interesting and challenging. You will build memories together that you can never forget!
Learning to be Flexible and Accepting
Traveling shows you that people are not the same. In fact, they are not meant to be the same. You will feel that most people are different than you but at the same time you will start accepting all the people you meet regardless of their looks, beliefs or ethnic groups. You will accept them will all their flaws and the same will apply to your partner.
Educating Yourself
Traveling is the best teacher ever. When you see and experience different cultures and mingle with the locals you learn quite a lot. This knowledge and experience will make you grow together in being an educated couple and of course I am not talking about university or school degrees.
Freedom!
You can be crazy together! You can be a little romantic! You can be yourself! ... You can be free! Traveling gives you all this. So why miss the chance? Why don’t you make the “traveling together” thing a priority in your life?

What does a very sharp pain in tongue mean? It’s Like a sharp needle jab or like I bit a small area hard. It takes 5 to 15 sec to subside with no tingle/ numbness. Doctor’s Answer:
Diagnosis is the key. Sharp tongue pain is usually caused by something obvious and visible like trauma. In some instances though, a discolored or painful tongue can indicate more serious conditions, including vitamin deficiencies or blood disorder. See your dentist for a proper diagnosis and treatment.

My finger nails and toe nails are so thin. They split down the middle. What would cause this? Doctor’s Answer:
Genetic issues. Nail issues can be hereditary, nutritional or trauma related. I would not be concerned unless they get worse. Look for changes.
No and yes. They weigh more early in the first six months of life, then typically less by a year of life. More importantly, they then weigh less for the rest of their life. Breastfed babies have lower obesity rates for life, that is.

An Intro Into the World of
Sports Psychology By: JESSIE ABDALLAH
50 | February 2016
W
ith the fitness trend that is increasing day by day in Egypt, I found that sadly many if not most of the athletes don’t know what sports psychology is. With this in mind I decided to create “MindPsycle;” to be a mental health awareness initiative with the aim of shedding some light on mental health; specifically on the practice of sports and food psychology;as it is my area of specialization after I finished my BA in Clinical Psychology. I think it is with great importance for people to understand and learn more about the mental aspect that plays a huge role in living a healthy lifestyle. In this article I will focus more on the discipline of sports psychology; that is simply just psychology applied to sports.
What is Sports Psychology?
• Sports Psychology focuses on the relationship and interactions between psychological factors and athletic performance. It aims to positively influence this relationship and create the best possible opportunity for the athlete to experience optimal performance levels and achieve their utmost and fullest potential. • Elka Graham, Australian Swimming legend once said, “ In training everyone focuses on 90 percent physical and 10 percent mental, but in the races its 90 mental because there’s very little that separates us physically at the elite level”. • When all else is equal on the field; it all goes down to mental toughness. The athletes who are tougher mentally are more likely to win and succeed in the end.
Who can Benefit from it? • Sport Psychologists must grasp their clients’ personal needs, often as humans before an athlete. It is crucial to understand the athlete’s personality and goals to then prioritize these needs to ensure the best results moving forward; and to be able to enhance their personal wellbeing and therefore achieve their fullest athletic potential.
• Clients’ needs can vary immensely and can stem from a range of various factors. Often these factors can fall under either performance enhancement or psychological wellbeing. Typically therefore, a Sport Psychologist could have two perspectives – a performance enhancement philosophy or a more holistic approach whereby a combination of performance enhancement and psychological wellbeing principles are adopted. • Some of the most common issues clients face are: aggression in sports, anxiety, losing focus, controlling temper, not being able to perform under pressure… and many more. • Clients also vary vastly; from the professional level all the way down to the recreational exerciser. Sports psychology helps professional and amateur athletes: • cope with the pressure of competition • Deal with eating disorders • recover from injuries • overcome problems • reflection on failure • to have motivation, grit and perseverance • keep their focus • stay consistent • enhance their performance • follow their exercise program • achieve their goals • enjoy sports in general In summary, sport psychology is the application of psychological concepts to people in sporting environments. Traditionally this has been through discreet mental skills training in areas such as imagery, concentration, relaxation, and goal setting. With one aim; to achieve our fullest potential and overcome all the obstacles to achieve mental toughness.

Foods for healthier eyes:
Fix with Food
Orange-colored foods like carrots help enhance and maintain vision due to beta-Carotene found in them. Egg yolk and spinach promote healthier eye vision as well due to Lutein and zeaxanthin found in them, which protect us against macular degeneration. Omega 3 fatty acids found in tuna, salmon and fish oil, as well as in nuts, are really useful for people who suffer from dry eyes, and they also protect us against macular degeneration. Citrus fruits protect our eyes from the risk of cataracts. Also, zinc found in lean beef could help us maintain healthier eyes as we get older, because it helps our bodies absorb Vitamin A.
• The Blood Type diet has been advocated by several experts on the basis that every blood type reacts with and digests Lectins in a different way. • Lectins are Carb-binding proteins that can bind to cell membranes and are found in many types of foods; including grains, beans, dairy products and plants. • The theory suggests that if the type of lectins you eat doesn’t match your blood antigen, the substance that causes your immune system to produce antibodies, it might causes health issues. • According to Dr. Peter Dadamo, the one who came up with theory of Blood Type Diet, here is what you should and shouldn’t eat according to your blood type:

Losing Weight Without Dieting Intake vs. Output
If you struggle with sticking to a certain diet, or if you get easily bored with repetitive meals, then you might find the 'intake vs. output' weightwatching approach easier. The 'intake vs. output' indicates that as long as the number of calories you consume is less than the number of calories you burn per day, then you'll manage to lose the weight without needing to eliminate any food component. This approach requires consistency and commitment to daily workout. More calories intake means more time spent at the gym...
Smaller Portions
Now this is one of the oldest tricks in the book, and one of the most successful ones according to many people who tried it. If you don't want to follow a strict diet, then opt for smaller portions in every meal. Serve yourself with smaller platters, and try to eat and chew with a slower rate. With smaller portions you have the chance to divide larger meals to smaller frequent ones. So instead of having three large meals, take five smaller ones per day; this way you'll boost your metabolism as well.
Protein and Carbohydrates don't mix!
This is one of the most talked about methods. A research study has been conducted on a group of people to compare the results between combined diet vs. balanced diet on losing weight, and it showed that people who follows balanced diet ( separating protein from carbohydrates) tend to lose weight more. However, many argue that it all comes down to the fact that protein and carbohydrates are digested in a different way, and combining them in one meal may take longer to digest a meal or even lead to indigestion issues. 56 | February 2016
Make it boring!
Desperate times call for desperate measures; it's time you make food boring! Most of us are guilty of eating without even feeling hungry. Many times we indulge in binge eating because we feel bored, or simply because there is nothing better to do, or because we're distracted with our surroundings that encourage us to eat more. Like for instance, the whole "movies and popcorn" norm, or the "snacks and sodas" rule when having your friends over. If you remove the amusement factor from the equation, you'll save yourself several pounds added to your weight without even noticing.
Seek alternatives
Little things make all the difference, right? Just like how small changes would go a long way for weight loss. Substitute white sugar with sweeteners or honey. Go for olive oil in cooking instead of excess fat and butter. Also, you could opt for whole grain rice and bread; they taste so good, and add less calories to your intake. Finally, please keep in mind that each and every one of these approaches varies in effectiveness according to your general health, level of fats, rate of metabolism among other factors; and each approach has its pros and cons as well. Usually when it comes to losing weight, what works for someone, might not necessarily work for another, and it's always preferable to consult a nutritionist, or do the needed research to understand your body and figure out which approach works for you the best.

“Dr. Love, Dr. Love. . .Again!” Calling In “Dr. Love” to Re-new the Cycle of Love BY: LAUREN K. CLARK
T
he cycle of love goes round and round. Starting from one phase, and entering into the next. You got it! Love is not a destination! Getting you from Point A to Point Z, as if it is an end goal. “And the beat goes on..., just like my love, everlasting,” says The Whispers. Love is everlasting-even within relationships, even during breaks, even during separations.

They say that true love, never dies. Some would debate the possibility of loving more than one person, simultaneously. Being with a present love, while past and future loves take hold of your heart (or maintain their place in its chambers). For those in relationships, love is about change—with the hopes of knowledge and improvement. Learning more about your partner; discovering new things about yourselves, and using that to make a more fruitful bond in the relationship.
“Mr. Right,” is one step away from turning a temporary, problematic reality, into a long-term nightmare. Patience is the anecdote for this phase. And is it really all that troubling? What if the heart were to turn another angle? Seeing it as a time to reflect, observe the status of your relationship, improvements needed to be made, and where you want to take it from there... a possibility, you think? Is this really a “dead” phase, or a time to get rid of the dead weight; bringing new life into your relationship?
It is also about re-invention of oneself—because change is all about creating something new; adding creative ways to extend the relationship. And just as the cycle of personal growth, relationships go through their phases. Of course, at the beginning, things are great. . .flowers, chocolates, love birds, and the beauty of Cupid’s arrow dangling between the two of you. Everything about them turns you on. Then reality sets in. Those nuisances that you thought were so cute, are now nightmarish, pet peeves, that irritate you. And then the real work begins. Support, caring for each other, intimacy, health, work, and maintaining your own betterment become part of the phase.A concrete deal-which served to understand the dynamics of change; and how adapting to change can serve the longevity of a relationship.
Moving on... So, now, after the “dull, suffocating, stuff,” is out of the way, and the two of you can get back to a more steady and enjoyable phase of your relationship, you begin to use the learning phase to assess how the relationship has grown. Becoming a physician to assess the proper diagnosis for you and your partner, ensures that you notice beautiful wonders about them. All the things you noticed in the earlier stage, becomes obvious in this new one. Which means that you not only know new things about your partner, but you know them better. Which means, a better relationship! In a way, it is as if you are creating a new relationship. You went through your previous relationship blueprint. As the new physician, you understand that you have a better doctor’s note, the next time he “gets the flu,” “has the stomach cramps,” or has simply taken a case of “fatigue.” He begins to notice these “changes,” in your reaction towards him. Therefore, he too begins to “discover,” and create new, healing techniques that makes you feel better. The process of the new Doctor’s Plan can be slow and steady! But it is slow and steady, that heals the space. So, let’s go over this new prescription for the new relationship.
Then comes the phase, where you begin to feel if the two of you are truly meant for each other. You have those down moments, and resent having gotten into a relationship to begin with. Mood swings, hostility, resentment, and even the temptation to cheat, come into play. And while you are observing all the “wrongs” of your partner, your imaginary PRESCRIPTION NEW LOVIN’ • 1 dose of liquid listening • 2 tablets of IMMEDIATELY dishing out the truth, even it if hurts • A couple of ointments for emotional wounds that may occur during an argument • 2 hours of rest and laying in each other’s arms after going through any type of argument • 3 love-making tablets to be taken with meals, that way you satisfy the two “appetites” • 1 hour of talking, looking into each other eyes, and just noticing the breath of life inside each other • Spend 4 minutes of listening to each other’s heart beat; see if you all match, or complement each other in rhythm • Spend time smelling the air that the two of you breathe, and getting
in tuned with each of your sensory (Note: This can take as long, as you need it to. It is up to the two of you.) Instructions: Please note that taking the prescribed treatments are based on the incidents that occur. The prescribed medication should be taken immediately after any arguments. Certain dosages (or treatments) can be decided based on the decision of the couple. That would be relevant for the 3 love-making tablets. Those below the prescription of 3 lovemaking tablets are also based on the decision of the couple Important Note: The prescription is only a remedy for arguments, and cannot be used for any other relationship illnesses.
So, now that the foundation for the new phase in a relationship has been presented, it is great to observe the magic coming from it. Learning from the past, makes for a more loving present. Ah! Growth is in the air! And love comes crawling in. Like the caterpillar who becomes larger (and more beautiful), by shedding its skin, love can, and does, get better with time and change. Never think that the transition phase is void of life. On the contrary, it is preparing for a better life. . .or a better LOVE LIFE! Also, love is never stagnant! Romantic movies that we constantly see do not show the whole picture. There is attraction, a spiritual connection, and then a process of growing the love between the two of you. Allowing you to revisit Dr. Love. . .again, and AGAIN! February 2016 | 63

Parenting and the Misconception of Love
T
here are a lot of misconceptions around the meaning of love among young kids; misconceptions that might determine their future relationships and understanding for their partners. Unfortunately due to the conservative nature of our culture, many Egyptian parents tend to convey the notion of love as a taboo to their kids, as if it’s wrong or forbidden. Some parents do it unintentionally to protect their kids, others do it to protect themselves, or what they refer to as their “honor,” especially with girls. No matter what their motive is, the outcome is sadly the same; an outcome of an entire generation who doesn’t know the first thing about the true meaning of love.

give to your child, it won’t be enough to teach them the true meaning of affection. In order to teach children the true essence of relationships and love, they need to observe that firsthand through their parents. A child who grows up witnessing a dull marriage will probably grow up thinking that this is the norm. Another aspect to look at is over-protective parenting, and how many parents shield their children from love. Many children, thanks to their parents, often confuse innocent love with sexual attributes, and this is mainly because they were raised with that notion carved in their head. Many children, boys and girls, grow up, again thanks to their parents, thinking that they have to fight their feelings, or even worse feel guilty that they had them in the first place. So now they are left with two options, they either discard their feelings and bury them down, or they act out and give in to the excitement of doing what is forbidden; and unluckily both scenarios don’t support a healthy love notion. The first category will grow up used to piling up their feelings inside; too afraid to speak their minds. While the others will crash head first into a wall of heartbreaks, unmet expectations, and God knows what else, as they didn’t find the necessary guidance they needed to control their feelings the right way.
After their first born, married couples divert all their affection and attention towards their child, which is normal at early stages, but unfortunately many lose their way afterwards. The spark of their love fades away as their child grows with a burden of responsibilities. Parents often forget that the best way to teach kids in their early years is to lead by example, so no matter the amount of love and attention you
The rate of divorce among young generation is very high these days, which serves as a definitive proof that there is something seriously wrong with the way we perceive love and commitment. Between the “prearranged marriages” parents enforce on their children, and the “spur of the moment marriages” that young couples jump into, there is a wide range of commitment issues and misconceptions that sadly end what could’ve been a happily-ever-after stories. We believe that the solution to this rising issue lies at the core of parenting. We need to teach our children about love early on; kids should grow up witnessing healthy marriages that set the right tone for their future commitments. Parents should teach their kids to embrace love and understand it rather than fear it; they should teach them that love is a formula that includes balanced potions of heart-felt feelings and realistic thoughts. Only then they could have the chance to have a healthy partnership with their loved ones.

DECODING EGYPT.... BY: Haidy Zakaria

An Open Letter to Frank Sinatra Dear Blue Eyes
B
y now you must know that your songs have been used for about every other holiday, but with the upcoming love festivities of good ol’ Valentine’s, your tunes are played more than ever. Of course, to those who do not know your full discography, Fly Me to the Moon and Strangers in The Night are the only two songs that would be put on repeat when people break out their red on red outfits and glitter and hearts and flowers and velvety filled candies and all the mushy, goey stuff that they exchange on that holiday. (barf) I know you’re probably sitting on a cloud somewhere with your hat slid to one side, a cigar in hand and a drink in the other, knowing all of those things already. However, allow me to direct your gaze to the way us Egyptians do it. We love to put our own “touch” on things and normal red hearts and pretty flowers won’t do. When it comes to music, might I tell you that you have competition; not all Egyptian couples listen to your velvety voice but some of them enjoy more the 1990s works of Amr Diab and maybe Hani Shaker if they were feeling a bit extra mushy. The food does not have to be in a quiet, candle lit place with a violinist serenading the lovers, we would be very happy with a good hearty meal at very busy restaurant, in a mall…on a weekend…with all the other red infused couples and all the other glittery candies and mushy flowers. (you know, so we can compete on who is wearing more red or has prettier gifts or which couple hold each other’s hands tighter, that sort of thing) Now, I don’t know about the other places, but over here -usually- valentine’s day dinner ends in some sort of fight, and I can bet you anything it’s about the present -or lack thereof-. You see, over here, Valentine’s day stopped being about loving someone, or showing your other half that they’re important to you, and started being about what you can show off to your friends on social media. If the night doesn’t end in a picture of say A.Them holding hands B.The girl pretending to be shy and covering her eyes while surrounded with roses and gifts or
C. A picture of them smiling at each other in a “candid” way and a caption that includes “#backbone/#theone/ #mysoulmate” it was a failure and the fight commences. Hey, I’m not saying that it’s not nice to get a gift or show the world (the entire literal world) how much you’re loved by your partner, but that shouldn’t be the point of it all. We have another 364 days in the year and we pick one February the 14th to go all out on a the color red and have a nation run out of glitter and have to import more from our good friends in China. I think you would agree with me when I say that a single flower on a random Tuesday (especially Tuesday, everyone needs some lovin’ on Tuesday) would be far more loving than a 5000 pound gift that would be left in a drawer somewhere for the rest of its measurable life. So, this month, as I listen to Fly Me To The Moon (because it’s literally my favorite song of all time), I’ll try to avoid the color red and velvet cupcakes and do good by your music. Love, Haidy

Nissan’s locally-built models drive growth in Egypt Sales of locally-produced models are helping to drive significant year-on-year growth for Nissan in Egypt. Despite a 4% dip in overall demand within the first nine months of the 2015 financial year (ending March 31st 2016), Nissan has increased its market share in Egypt by 0.7 points to 10.7% in the same period. Powering this growth is Nissan’s expanding range of ‘made in Egypt’ models, including Sunny, Sentra and Pickup, which account for 85% of Nissan’s overall retail sales in Egypt so far this financial year. The new Sunny sedan, introduced to Nissan’s 6th October City plant near Cairo last year, was joined by the new Sentra in October. According to the Automotive Marketing Information Council (AMIC) 2015 report, Sunny was the highest-selling car in the 1300 - 1500cc segment with a 28% share – almost double its nearest competitor.
