Who am I? I am currently studying Design graphic and Multimedia at the ÉSA Pyrénées hight School of Art, city of Pau, France. I graduated a BTS artist of the architectural environment (Applied arts school Denis Diderot, Marseille) which gave me a better approach to use of space. The DNAP degree Graphic Design and Multimedia has allowed me to acquire knowledge and great interest in editing and interactive design fields. He also made me aware of the combined use of different media and I am particularly interested in the cross between digital and print media. This year, I am especially interested in the issue of data
visualization and specifically the visualization of the thought in action, the research process.

8,3 Editing project in group of 10 students done in the second year in the studio of Graphic Design Typography led by Perrine Saint Martin and Jean-Marc Saint Paul . We have built this edition in the form of a common portfolio, ordered by categories and the main idea was: The collective. I am especially involved in the photo work (studio shot / composing / format) and layout. Through the layout I wanted to highlight the exchanges we had on the social network facebook during the reflection phase. This is to make visible the process of collective decisionmaking, communication within the group and the discovery of the work of each. This is formally reflected in the implementation of several elements: a system review each other’s work, a group photo and an introduction in which each person expresses his definition of the collective. It was interesting to share and to observe all the
different steps of the project’s construction within a group, including the dynamic and the balance between the decisions that have to be token and the compromises that has to be made.

image of the text This editing work was done through the third year in the studio of Graphic Design Typography led by Perrine Saint Martin. We have been asked to lay out the text of Emmanuel Souchier : The image of the text. For a theory of the editorial saying ( from the Magazine Mediology Notebook n ° 6 1) and to associate an iconography. I focused on the central idea of the author : the act of transformation that applies graphic designer, typographer on the first text (the one that conveys the meaning of the text) to make a second text, an image of the text. This action has the function of giving it to read the writing of the author, but it is also part of a history of forms and thus presents us with a concrete object that is the very image of the text. To confront the reader only to this image, I worked on writing a Processing program that generates the breakup of the text. I put this text in input editing, as a generic to integrate a movement in the static object and show the process of creation of the iconography. I was inspired by some work of Robert Massin and Philippe Millot 2. For a continuing reading, I have separated current text’s iconography, and I brought
the author’s annotations around the text. For the layout of the current text, I focus on the function of reading, and worked on readability with a comfortable character body and a spacious turning white that defined the edition’s size (24x37 cm). The title and author’s name are used as a system of sign that returns and revolves around the text block current, always to highlight his image. I used the GillSans font because she seems to have a good readability both on paper and screen. I then declined this edition in a downloadable A4 PDF that follow the principles of layout of the edition.

Encounter This edition is a selfcommand, which documented the experiences realised while doing the workshop of drawing led by Catherine Melin and Vincent Meyer (November 2012 to March 2013). I worked on the matter of sliding and encounter between traditional media (paper / cutting / pencil) and digital tools. In chronological order, the book reports the evolution of the experiments. The format returns to the notebook. The quality and grades of paper’s selected replay the effect of sliding from one form to another, the effect of layering and the transparency of the materials used in experiments.

IMAGE OF THOUGHT. DATA TO SEE This edition is the written document presented at my DNAP diploma (June 2013). I have conducted a series of research on the topic of data visualization and most precisely on the question of showing the process of work. I wondered how to show, share and read today’s information and how to integrate it into my practice of graphic design. This brought me to a reflection about the tools and the production of graphic shapes to visualize data. I have formatted and synthesized my research in this edition. Readability has been my main goal, so I worked on a clear and functional layout. The notes are twofold: textual and iconographic, they complete and illustrate the text
with important elements that is why they follow the running text on Central columns. Notes-duotone images can be found in full color and in larger format at the end of book, in an index.

COMPOSIT’ Composit’ was completed in December 2011 during a workshop 1 led by Pierre Vanni, it was done in collaboration with two other students. We have been invited to rethink the poster format, how it is used while being confronting to problems that are specific to the web display. Without trying to achieve a « 2.0 » poster, we have attempted to create a hybrid object. we have imagine a sort of articulation between the display in real situation, and the display on the web. The project aim to present a new form of communication for the Electro Culture Festival « access(s) », in Pau. Our poster decomposes into flyers on which are inscribed at the back, the web side address where all the information related to the festival can be founded. A video system records the decomposition of the poster. In the way of communicating vessels more the fylers are pulled over, more the website unfolds. 1. TYPOGRAPHICAL SPINNING This project is part of the optional graphic design led by Jean-Marc Saint Paul in second year. The proposal was to choose between the graphical objects that serve to inform and to guider us : inventory, card, user manual. I create an inventory of some letters found in the streets of Pau that I paired with a mapping work to geographically recontextualised them and propose another practice of the town. It comes to list what is normaly not highlighted, and taking the opposing view to traditional map reading try to give another look at these scriptures often ignored. By taking elements of the daily landscape and through a graphical processing I try to give another point of view.

This project was conducted in the third year workshop led by Marie Bruneau, Bertrand Genier : Pau, Faces and figures. We have done research in the city of Pau on personalities that have marked closely or from afar, the collective history of the city; to start thinking about the issue of heritage we have proposed a set of portrait figures encountered. I decided to work on the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, who did his secondary studies in Pau. To do his portrait, I had to know the character, so I conducted a series of research through text, video and sound document. The strong contrast between his theoretical and complex thinking and his very accessible public speaking character really impressed me. Later, I found out that he regarded the speech as an important mediation tool, and I choose to concentrated on this aspect of his personnality. In the portrait, I worked on the first document of « my meeting » with Pierre Bourdieu : 1. Video Bourdieu, gauchedroite : www.youtube.com/ watch?v=Sj3r48hMnw0

The tight framing is meant to give a feeling of proximity and to strength the human side of the character, I have done some focus on sensitive attributes of the person like the eyes and the smile. The set of portrait has been the subject of two exhibitions (central library and city’s gardens).

Thin slides This proposal was made in the second year (2011 / 2012) new media design workshop led by Vincent Meyer. In a reflection about the real / virtual, the fixed constraint has been the use of Blender 3D modelling tool. My goal was to try a physical materialization of a digital object. I proceeded by successive shifts between different media. The first step was the digital creation of the 3D object, simple and geometric form. Then I decomposed it into a pattern to allow its materialization in a paper sculpture. The last step finalizes the object by giving it a dimension driven by a series of projections map to different surfaces. We therefore witness a game of construction and deconstructions of forms.

Encounter The work was conducted in the third year, it was a drawing workshop led by Catherine Melin and Vincent Meyer. It is a continuation of the work I have undertaken in the second year, on issues of transparency and layering. Here, I worked specifically on questions of slipping and encounter between traditional media (paper / cut / pencil) and digital tools. I wanted to integrate the generative design as a starting point, in a « reversal way » of what I had experienced so far in the drawing. Starting this time with a computer and then going to the paper, I extended the process, going back and forth between the two universes, that continue to feed each other. The sum of these experiments gave birth to a formal vocabulary, from which I extracted and reconstructed
some elements to create a projection. A sound installation support this projection. It was made from everyday sound (rain noise, kitchen tools, footstep, etc.) recordings and transformed digitally. To resum the sum of experiments, I designed an edition (see p 27).

Pau, faces and figures This project was conducted in the third year, while following the workshop led by Marie Bruneau and Bertrand Genier: Pau, faces and figures. The aim was to achieve a multimedia portrait of famous sociologist, Pierre Bourdieu. This web interface 1 replays the stakes of the research that I conducted on. It enables transversal links between different documents that helped me to discover Mr Bourdieu. To understand his thinking, I drew a mind map that I deliver here in a dynamic way, each area of the map represent a link to the documents. This tool gives the reader the opportunity to choose his own way of reading. It allows the user to become, in a way, independent and to be the actor of his research. The mind map is a system that I regularly use in my research process; I’ve found it very convenient to simplify, or illuminate new areas of thoughts. 1. I particularly enjoyed this way of working because it allows me to show the whole process and to make the invisible visible.

TROMBOLOGO Trombologo was realized in collaboration with two other students, during a workshop on the theme of Interactivity 1, led by Martial Geoffre Rouland 2.(dec 2012) We had a short time to do it and worked like an « exercise in style ». In the context of a research on the generative, interactive and graphic design, we proposed a writing system of intuitive, immediate and universal form, within the confines of a previously determined graphic charter. We thought that the face, as base material, was a natural form of expression for every human being. We tried, using a generative system, a translation of facial expressions in a graphic form. Through data’s collection, such as the size mouth or the opening of the eyes, the user may affect its « graphic portrait » and shape it at will. This project makes me concretely faced the transcription’s process of 1. Archives of the workshop on : http://workshops. esapyrenees.fr/mgr/?p=18

This project was conducted in second year in the workshop of design of new media led by Vincent Meyer We have been invited to create an animation on the subject of a minute of complexity. The biological elements seemed a appropriate field xto the theme of complexity. Their structures are tending toward complexification with time. I tried to transcribe this idea through an animation. The main idea was to start from a single material, a picture of a blood system 1, to generate a more complex animation.
