ack Chivers celebrates 50 years as a real estate professional this year. Growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jack already knew in his early years that he wanted to see the world. An opportunity arose for him by joining the Navy. After serving his country and sailing all seven seas, his path led him to Minnesota, where he immediately became enamored with Lake Life. Detroit Lakes became his home and Jack began working as a full time real estate agent on April 1, 1966. His career began at Calhoun Realty, based in Minneapolis, where he worked the Tri-state area for the following 13 years covering the upper Midwest in commercial real estate sales. As we all know Jack, he very much likes to meet people. Traveling between South Dakota, Western North Dakota and to the southern parts of Minnesota allowed him a life to do so. Consequently, he grew his sphere of friends which he maintains to this day. On his way he sold small and large businesses, hotels, newspapers, gas stations, restaurants and shopping centers. While meeting people on his trips, he always shared his passion about Detroit Lakes and Lakes Country. As for many, Lake Life was something people were dreaming about. People remember Jack always saying: Don’t just visit…live it!
In addition to his thriving commercial and business sales, Jack found his nitch as a lakes expert and for many of his clients, dreams came true. Therefore, on June 2, 1980 Jack became a real estate broker in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and founded his own agency known as Jack Chivers Realty. Today, Jack Chivers Realty has become an icon for recreational real estate property sales and is known far beyond local borders. Jack is the most successful and experienced real estate professional in the local market. On top of that, he is one of few in the nation celebrating more than 50 years of industry experience and still actively selling. On January 1, 2014 Jack sold his company, but remains as a mentor and sales leader for the entire group. We have the honor to congratulate him on his anniversary and proud to share that he has no intentions of retirement any time soon.
