EATING OUT AT HOME HADSKIS RESTAURANT
DURING THESE TRYING TIMES A REGULAR FOOD REVIEW IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE, IN STEPPED LK COMMUNICATIONS WHO KINDLY ARRANGED A COOK + DINE EXPERIENCE FOR US WITH HADSKIS RESTAURANT, WE HAD SUCH A GREAT NIGHT, AND I SHALL TELL YOU WHY IN JUST A MOMENT!
TYPICALLY, I WOULD BE TALKING about the location, decor, service and atmosphere in an establishment though today our review takes place from the comfort of my friend Sharon’s beautifully welcoming kitchen. I love cooking and equally love eating so the opportunity to prepare restaurant quality dishes at home is right up my street.
Hadski’s offer this wonderful service 4 days per week from Thursday-Sunday (times for each day available online) and you can currently preorder right up to 3rd January via their website hadskis.dishup.app/hadskis/ menus.
The website unlike some I have experienced is super easy to follow, once you select your pickup date and time you simply select the items to add to your basket.
They have cleverly put together menu’s with diners needs in mind with an offering of 2 course Vegetarian meal, 3 course Meat or Fish menu or you can piece together a menu to suit your personal taste, this is what I decided to do.
All items are precooked to a degree saving loads of time and confusion when you get home.
I had arranged to collect our goodies at 5.45pm though with finishing work early and traffic being light I arrived at 5.15pm, I was prepared to wait until the agreed time though the super attentive staff had our items boxed up for us within minutes and we ready to go.
We were talked through the items and given an instruction sheet to follow once we got home, it was all quite exciting.
Once we got home, we unpacked the box and lay all the items out on the bench, oh before I go any further on advice from the Chef we already had the oven on and ready to go.
Each item was individually packed and clearly labeled with its contents and cooking instructions, even the most basic of cook would find it hard to go wrong.
After a speed read of the instructions, we popped the main event into the oven then began to prep our starters. I ordered the Arancini, Parmesan and Salsa Verde while my guest fancied the Crab and Chilli Linguine, neither item took more than 10 minutes to prepare, these starters are designed to get those taste buds going rather than fill a plate though we still split the portions and tried each other’s.
Being a cheese and seafood lover, I equally enjoyed both dishes. The Parmesan really made the Arancini balls come to life they were beautiful, those not familiar the dish is rice coated in breadcrumbs and fried, accompanied in this case with Parmesan and Salsa Verde.
The Crab and Chilli Linguine was divine, so rich with tiny pieces of crab flaked through the sauce and just the perfect amount of kick from the Chilli. Pasta dishes for some can be quite boring on the palate, this certainly wasn’t I could have easily dove into a large bowl.
For our main we ordered the Tomahawk Steak – wow, if you haven’t seen one you need to google it, this impressive piece of meat weighing in at a whopping 1.2kg was like something out of the Flintstones lol. It was definitely a talking point and the subject This beauty was steered and precooked to Blu, we followed the instructions for a medium cook though found it wasn’t quite to our liking, not sure if the timings were for an industrial oven or if my friends oven temperature was up the left though lol so left it in a tad longer and enjoyed a wee glass on wine and catch up.
Cooking away alongside the Tomahawk were the sides that came with it, Roasted Garlic, Rosemary and Thyme Potatoes, Mushrooms in a butter, a portion of greens and 2 servings of Peppercorn Sauce, which we had warming in a pot. All super simply to prepare, literally needing 10ish minutes or so in the oven to finish cooking or warm up.
I had the honours of carving up the steak and plating everything after allowing the mighty mound of meat to rest of course. The steak was delicious, melted in the mouth, my guest being somewhat of a pigeon picker didn’t eat allot though I would still say there was enough for 3 good sized portions as later in the evening I went back for another munch.
I enjoyed all the sides bar the courgette, for me it didn’t belong with the steak though this is just personal preference, the mini roast potatoes were lovely, super crispy edges and drizzled in garlic and the mushrooms were so Moorish, I had to refrain myself when dishing it out so to leave some for my guest.
For Dessert we ordered the Tarte Tatin, again super easy to prep, it took around 8 minutes in the oven and served this with ice cream, this was also part of the meal which we had chilling in the freezer. For me this was the perfect dessert, the apples were so soft the fork slipped straight through them, the caramel sauce was so sticky and rich, and the pastry was so light and flaky. I am going to attempt to recreate this dish though I am under no illusion that it won’t be anything close to the standard, it was to die for!
We also ordered a small cheese box for a nibble with wine, you must forgive me I did not write down the names of the 3 cheeses though one was a blue cheese, one a brie and the third a hard cheese, these came with chutney and homemade crackers, all were lovely and the perfect end to a delightful dining experience.
We had a wonderful evening, anyone wanting to impress their partner, friends or family members we cannot recommend enough, the food was delicious, and the ordering and cooking couldn’t be easier
