Within your terrarium kit you’ll find the following:
• Glass Vessel - to create your miniature garden in • Alpine Grit - The small stones act as water drainage for the plants’ roots to ensure that excess water doesn’t sit in the soil and cause rot. • Decorative stones - to brighten and jazz up your terrarium • Soil - for your plants to root in • Plants – A selection of tropical plants
STEP 3:
Now it’s time to add your plants. • Start by planting your largest plant first. Remove the plant from its container, loosen the roots and break away any excess soil as you would when repotting any plant. • Make a hole in the soil large enough to fit the plants roots. • Next, nestle the plant into the soil.
Top Tip: Use gloves if handling any prickly plants.
STEP 1:
Open your bag of Alpine Grit and gently empty into the base of your terrarium. This layer will act as drainage for your terrarium.
STEP 4:
Once all of your plants are arranged and planted in your glass vessel, complete your terrarium by adding a layer of decorative stones to the top of the soil.
You can also add some personality to your terrarium with miniature decorations, driftwood or trinkets that you have at home!
STEP 2:
Open your bag of Fresh Soil and add to the top of your base layer of drainage stones. Gently even out your layer of soil, and compact it with slight pressure with the back of your hand. By compacting your layer of soil, you are creating a firm and supportive base for rooting your miniature plants.
STEP 5:
Water in your plants using a mister or spray guy, a small amount around the base is just fine (5/6 sprays) also spray around the inside of your glass and use some kitchen paper to gently wipe away any dirt. and enjoy your terrarium! When looking after your terrarium, sunlight and water are very important for your plants to survive. Lightly water your plants regularly, never allow the soil to dry out. You’ll be able to see how dry the soil is by looking at through your glass vessel.
