REVIEW //
SKINNY BAKERY
AVID READERS WILL KNOW I love my sweet treats though its very seldom you get something that is equally as healthy as tasty, step in Skinny Bakery.
I cannot recall if I first seen them on Instagram or Facebook either way as someone who tries to look after physique, they immediately caught my attention and I had to try them. (I say that in the loosest terms, not a day passes that I don’t have something sweet lol sshhh)
So before we delve into review who are Skinny Bakery and what are they all about?
Skinny Bakery is a London based food company which all started when founder Mariella Heyn began baking from her mother’s kitchen in 2012, pursuing an idea to create delicious cakes that can be eaten everyday whilst still fitting into your jeans. Mariella experimented endlessly to discover delicious baked recipes which contain a fraction of the calories and carved out a clear place for Skinny Bakery in the healthy snack market.
The bakery offers classic flavours with a twist to provide an indulgent taste but as a lighter and healthier version, made possible by using fresh fruits and veggies and quirky ingredient substitutions.
Developing doughnuts, vegan bakes, made without gluten and made without dairy ranges our core menu has expanded to 20 signature products with exciting Limited Edition varieties ranging from S’mores to Pink Champagne as there are always new flavours to explore.
Typically containing only 30-40 calories per Pearl and portioned into our proudly eco-friendly PLA packs, Skinny Bakery cakes make the perfect snacks for every indulgence.
Review time...
Short back story first, I don’t get to spend as much time as I’d like with my nieces with work and living a distance away, so this review was the perfect excuse for a catchup that I knew they’d apricate. I arranged to have a wee tea party with them and planned to try all the delicious cakes.
Skinny Bakery provided 8 different varieties of their cakes, 6 regular offerings, available all the time and 2 Limited edition treats, I was expecting a few samples though not 8 boxes, good thing I had my nieces on hand, even with my sweet tooth there was no way id of been able to make a dent on them, though between the 4 of us and my mum pinching 2 pearls not a single one was left.
Our box included Red Velvet, Victoria, Cookies and Cream, Chocolate, Vanilla, Cherry Bakewell, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Orange, though if these don’t appeal to you there are 17 options online at present.
We all sat around the table literally with 40 mini cakes in front of us, it was so much fun and great to try all the varieties, we all had our favourites, for me it was the Carrot Cake followed closely by the Choc Orange.
In honesty there is nothing negative I can say, they were all really tasty, very moist which was surprising, healthy which is the main draw for me, cost effective and they keep well for a couple of days, what more can you ask for!
