LINA AKOPIANS, MD, PHD, FACOG

Dr. Lina Akopians is a double board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist and reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist at Southern California Reproductive Center. Driven by her love of medicine and reproductive health, she is passionate about helping her patients overcome their fertility challenges to achieve their dream of parenthood.

SCRC has been at the forefront of assisted reproductive technology for the past two decades and is recognized worldwide as one of the largest and most successful IVF facilities. Dr. Akopians offers her patients the most advanced and innovative treatments in reproductive medicine—from IVF and third-party reproduction (donor/surrogacy services) to oocyte cryopreservation (egg freezing). With SCRC’s state-of-the art facilities, Dr. Akopians is able to provide her patients with an unparalleled combination of expert care and advanced biomedical technology. After receiving her bachelor’s and master’s in physiological science, as well as her PhD in molecular, cellular and integrative physiology from UCLA, Dr. Akopians completed her medical training at Albany Medical College in New York. She returned to L.A. for her OB/GYN residency program at UCLA and completed her reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship training at the UCLA/CedarsSinai program. Dr. Akopians is among a minority of physicians who hold both an MD and PhD, possessing a strong background in both fertility research and patient care. She has been recognized with many special honors and awards and has authored and co-authored several publications covering a range of reproductive and prenatal related topics.

Dr. Akopians is interested in the future of reproductive services, family planning, and continual research in the field of reproductive medicine. During her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, she conducted research on polycystic ovary syndrome and oocyte cryopreservation. As a woman in the field of reproductive health, Dr. Akopians is motivated to use her expertise to help women preserve their fertility and broaden their reproductive options.

Fluent in Armenian, Farsi, and English, Dr. Akopians is dedicated to serving a diverse patient population. She strongly believes in empowering all her patients with knowledge about their reproductive choices, so they may create the family they desire.
