Dr. S. Asha Balakrishnan is a fellowship-trained cataract, refractive, and cornea surgeon and board-certified ophthalmologist at DLV Vision. Prior to starting in private practice, she served as the director of cornea and refractive surgery at the University of Louisville. She has specialized in cataract and refractive surgery for over 10 years and was awarded the 2022 Leo Tauber & David Fainer Award for Vision Care Specialist of the Year by the Ventura County Medical Research Foundation.

Dr. Balakrishnan was born and raised in Virginia, where she attended the Norfolk Academy and graduated as valedictorian, National Merit Scholar, and Presidential Scholar finalist. She graduated with honors in chemistry from Harvard University. After earning her medical degree at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, she completed her internship in internal medicine at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Balakrishnan did her ophthalmology residency at the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center, where she received the Walter R. Parker Resident Teaching Award. She was then selected for the prestigious Baylor College of Medicine fellowship in Cataract, Refractive, & Cornea Surgery.

Dr. Balakrishnan specializes in all forms of cataract and refractive surgery, including manual and laser-assisted cataract surgery, complex intraocular lens procedures, LASIK, PRK, ICL, and refractive lens exchange. She has been the surgeon of choice for numerous colleagues in the Los Angeles area and members of her own surgical team. Dr. Balakrishnan is dedicated to pursuing excellence in patient care while embodying compassion and integrity.
