Pasadena Civic Auditorium
Creative and artistic spirits have long been attracted to Pasadena. Leading architects and designers of the American Arts and Crafts movement called Pasadena home in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and their lasting influence is showcased through Pasadena Heritage’s architectural tours. Business magnates and industrialists like Norton Simon and Henry Huntington were among the prominent art collectors and benefactors whose legacies in Pasadena’s rich arts and cultural landscape. Today, their efforts live on in the Norton Simon Museum, a gem of an art museum housed in a building designed by none other than Frank Gehry. The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens and its 200 acres, 12 gardens, and extensive art collection continues to be a favorite destination for visitors. The Pasadena Civic Auditorium, one of the most revered performance halls in the nation, will celebrate its 90th anniversary this year. The Civic has hosted thousands of events, from comedians to theatrical performances, award shows to film events, and more. Including the Pasadena Playhouse, and the Pasadena Symphony & Pops, hundreds of productions have entertained Pasadena for decades. 38
