Osvaldo “Marineroâ€? Montes, quien fuera fueye de las orquestas de Horacio SalgĂĄn, Atilio Stampone, Enrique Mario Franchini, Mariano Mores y Leopoldo Federico, muriĂł el 4 de julio pasado a los 80 aĂąos. Una de sus Ăşltimas apariciones fue en ocasiĂłn del homenaje que le rindiĂł Gabriel Soria en el ciclo “Troilo. Compositorâ€?, realizado en La Usina del Arte. Fue en el enero pasado, en el auditorio mayor, siendo ovacionado por sus colegas y todo el pĂşblico presente que colmĂł la sala. Osvaldo habĂ­a estrenado ese espectĂĄculo dedicado a Troilo en el Teatro Maipo, en setiembre de 2012, obra producida por Soria. Y en diciembre de ese aĂąo, el investigador y productor lo convocĂł a tocar el fueye de Pichuco en la iglesia de San Pedro Telmo, en el bario de San Telmo. GrabĂł dos discos con AnĂ­bal Arias, fallecido en 2010: “Juntos por el tangoâ€? (1997) y “Bien tangueroâ€? (2007). SerĂĄ siempre recordado no solo por su enorme talento sino tambiĂŠn por su gran bonomĂ­a y calidez. Su ausencia embarga de tristeza a toda la comunidad tanguera.

Osvaldo “Marineroâ€? Montes, who played the squeezebox in the orchestras of Horacio SalgĂĄn, Atilio Stampone, Enrique Mario Franchini, Mariano Mores y Leopoldo Federico, died on 4th July last at the age of 80. One of his last appearances was on the occasion of the homage paid him by Gabriel Soria in the series “Troilo Compositorâ€?, held at La Usina del Arte. It was last January, in the main auditorium, given an ovation by his colleagues and all the public who packed out the hall. Osvaldo had played the opening night of this show dedicated to Troilo at the Teatro Maipo, in September of 2012, a work by Soria. And in December of that year, the researcher and producer called on him to play Pichuco’s squeezebox at the church of San Pedro Telmo, in the San Telmo neighborhood. The much-loved “Marineroâ€? was born in Rosario on 8th <X=D sociated with one of the most famous duos in the history of tango: the one he formed with the guitarist AnĂ­bal Arias. ? ' ! <= ' ' of RaĂşl Bianchi. He played with this group for twelve years. In 1955 he made his debut in Buenos Aires as part of Miguel Nijenson’s orchestra and two years later he started out as a bandoneon soloist. His squeezebox was part of the line-up of bandoneons in the orchestras of Enrique Mario Francini, Armando Lacava, Miguel CalĂł, Ă ngel DomĂ­nguez and Enrique Alessio. And it accompanied singers like Alberto Marino and Siro San RomĂĄn. In 1962 he joined Leopoldo Federico’s orchestra, which accompanied the signer Julio Sosa. After the Uruguayan singer’s death, Montes joined other orchestras, amongst them that of SalgĂĄn. He recorded CDs with AnĂ­bal Arias, who died in 2010: “Juntos por el tangoâ€? (1997) and “Bien tangueroâ€? (2007). He will always be remembered, not only for his enormous talent, but also for his great bonhomie ' 9 ? munity with sadness.

Por graves complicaciones de salud y sin poder haber concretado un transplante de hĂ­gado porque el suyo ya no daba mĂĄs. Su madre, Ana, y su hermano, no quisieron velatorio y acompaĂąado por incondicionales amigos – su Ăşltima compaĂąera, Anita Van der Helm, Luiza Paes, quien fuera su compaĂąera por muchos aĂąos, El Indio Pedro Benavente, Eduardo Cappussi, Luis Solanas, Juan Fosatti y Ernesto Balmaceda y Stella BĂĄez, y varias personas mĂĄs, al dĂ­a siguiente fue sepultado en el cementerio de Vicente LĂłpez. Se hizo famoso en todo el mundo de la danza del 2X4 por su modo particular de bailar, su enorme musicalidad, sus enrosques e introspecciĂłn. Diferente de todos. Cero careta, intrĂŠpido, para algunos era un loco lindo, que volaba por la cornisa. Junto a Luiza realizĂł varias ediciones de su ya legendario “Pulpo Tango Weekâ€?, y en su ediciĂłn de 2007, lo entrevistamos y nos decĂ­a: “Todo el mundo estĂĄ en la competencia, la arrogancia, pero hay una carencia, una necesidad de sentirse parte de algo. Lo que estĂĄ faltando es que la gente de mi generaciĂłn se junte solidariamenteâ€?. Apasionado de nuestra cultura enfatizaba: “no debe venir un bailarĂ­n ruso y ser mĂĄs habilidoso que un argentino‌ Hoy hay mucho “tango nuevoâ€?, pero la verdad es que no existe el tango nuevo si no tiene tango. Tiene que tener referencia de algo anterior. Hay quienes dicen: “yo hago tango alternativoâ€? y yo pregunto: Âżalternativo de quĂŠ? No saben‌â€? El Pulpo ya no estĂĄ. Nos perdemos de su baile, su sonrisa, su locura, su amistad. Recordemos, entonces, sus profundas palabras que nos dijera un dĂ­a: “como argentinos tenemos la obligaciĂłn de tener las mejores milongas, los mejores profesores y los mejores bailarines‌â€?

En noviembre de este aĂąo “PorteĂąo y BailarĂ­nâ€? cumplirĂĄ catorce temporadas en la noche de Buenos Aires desde su inauguraciĂłn. “Una bochaâ€?, dice su mentor y organizador, Carlos Stasi, quien durante diez aĂąos la armĂł con JosĂŠ GarĂłfalo, y desde hace cuatro, hace lo propio junto a su compaĂąera, Adriana Guerrero. Todo un personaje de la noche porteĂąa, ex jugador de futbol en VĂŠlez, Independiente (jugĂł en los Estados Unidos y tuvo el privilegio de jugar de NÂş 9, frente a PelĂŠ), actor (esta presentando en El Juvenil la obra de Carlos Gorostiza, “El acompaĂąamientoâ€?), bailarĂ­n y profesor, este personaje bohemio y sentimental recibe a todos los milongueros los domingos y martes, a partir :: =; R =DG de la Avenida Corrientes. “Tratamos de transmitir nuestro amor por el tango y de dĂĄrselo a la gente, de mantener la esencia. La milonga cambiĂł mucho en los Ăşltimos aĂąos, es inevitable porque el mundo cambia, nosotros, la vida‌ Pero nosotros vamos a morir en la nuestra. No vamos a hacer cosas raras para atraer a la gente. Por acĂĄ pasaron muchos: Gavito, TetĂŠ, Osvaldo Zotto‌ ÂĄEsos duendes estĂĄn aquĂ­! AtrĂĄs del tango y del baile hay otras cosas, que si tenĂŠs sensibilidad, las vas a descubrirâ€?, remarca Stasi, mientras suena de fondo una tanda de Di Sarli-PodestĂĄ. “AcĂĄ vienen cantantes, bailarines, orquestas, la gente se llena de tango. Es un emblema, un sĂ­mbolo de la noche porteĂąaâ€?, subraya por su parte Adriana, quien colabora en todo lo que es producciĂłn, promociĂłn y organizaciĂłn de los festejos de cumpleaĂąos de los amigos de la casa.
