2023

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Welcome to our exciting Summer 2023 Programs Guide!

With spring just around the corner, we are looking forward with enthusiasm to all things SUMMER. The season always brings with it my favorite activities: being outside in the sunshine, swimming, and traveling. It’s also a great time to learn something new or focus on a passion. We want LCDS to be your go-to for summer fun and learning!

This guide to summer at LCDS includes more programming than ever before, and we have offerings for all ages from preschool through 12th grade. “Camp LCDS” has expanded to include students entering Kindergarten through 5th grade. We are excited to launch a collaboration with Popovsky Performing Arts Studio to bring you summer theater performance camps from students entering 1st through 12th grade! Our popular “Courses for Credit” continue this summer and of course we will transform LCDS into Hogwarts (potions, wands, wizards, and magical creatures included!), there’s bound to be a match for your student.

Please peruse and get planning! We’re looking forward to having you at LCDS.

Sincerely,

On Saturday, 7/1, the camp will run from 9 a.m. until the second performance is over.

ABOUT THIS CAMP:

Originally presented on television in 1957 starring Julie Andrews, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella was the most widely viewed program in the history of the medium. Its recreation in 1965 starring Lesley Ann Warren was no less successful in transporting a new generation to the miraculous kingdom of dreams-come-true, and so was a second remake in 1997, which starred Brandy as Cinderella and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. As adapted for the stage, with great warmth and more than a touch of hilarity, this enthralling fairy tale still warms the hearts of children and adults alike.

In this specially created Youth Edition, all the beloved songs and familiar characters are present and accounted for. However, the entire script has been condensed to better suit young attention spans, and the plot has been slightly altered to highlight some important lessons for contemporary audiences.

The SpongeBob Musical is based on the beloved animated series created by Stephen Hillenburg and features a book by Kyle Jarrow, with original songs by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, Lady A, Cyndi Lauper, John Legend, Panic! The 2005 Broadway production won three Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, and was followed by two successful West End runs. The outrageous, uproarious, and gloriously entertaining story of King Arthur and the Lady of the Lake will delight casts and audiences as they search for the Holy Grail and “always look on the bright side of life.”
