Where do you live? Just south of Wichita Falls, Texas Where do you work? Turner Country Properties, officing in Wichita Falls, Texas. We cover several counties across North and West Texas. What drew you to ranch and recreational real estate? After graduating college in 2009, I went to work with my father at Turner Appraisal Company. I obtained my Certified General Appraiser License in 2015 and was primarily appraising farm, ranch and recreational properties. Over time, I grew a passion for land. Shortly after, I obtained my Sales Agent license and began selling land. What makes the corner of the world where you work special? The quality and diversity of land still at reasonable prices. What are the three most important tools in a ranch broker’s kit? A side by side or UTV to be able to efficiently tour properties; MapRight, a high-quality mapping software with endless features; being a creative problem solver. If you could call anywhere on the planet home, where would it be? Wichita Falls, Texas; it’s where I was born and raised. It’s where I live and am raising my family. What’s the most profound lesson you’ve learned from the land or its people? Never judge a book by its cover. There are all different types of land and land owners. Listener or talker? Definitely a listener. If you had one extra hour of time per day, how would you use it? I would spend more time with my wife and three kids. Would you rather be without Internet for a week or your phone? I could live without internet; my phone is a crucial part of my business. If you could give one sentence advice about how to live life, what would that be? Be honest; don’t tell people what they want to hear. Describe your perfect work day. Spending all day touring ranches for the first time, whether they’re new listings or if I am showing to a client. What is your most memorable deal to date? The large sales always stand out. A few years ago, I had a Reverse 1031 Tax Deferred Exchange client with a strict deadline of February 14th. I listed their ranch and had very little interest. We finally were able to get the property into contract the first part of February and closed it on February 14th. Every Valentine’s day I remember this deal.
