También, los conquistadores trajeron enfermedades como la viruela de Europa a las Américas que mataban la mayoría de la gente indígena.

跟我一起去上大学。

子,

I will be attending college this fall semester. I think that Chinese culture and cuisine are very interesting. Chinese cuisine here is not only unauthentic, but also not very good. I'm excited to eat authentic family-style tofu, dumplings, and bok choy. I'm also planning to see the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City. Although I am looking forward to going to China, I am a little sad. I have a very beautiful golden retriever, Little Dumpling. Little Dumpling has been my friend for more than three years. I want to take her with me when I move, but the college said I cannot keep a dog in the student dorms. I can live off-campus, but living off-campus is inconvenient and expensive. I think that living on-campus would be better. I really don't want to leave Little Dumpling at home, so I have to compromise. My older brother and his wife live in Hong Kong, very close to my college. I want to ask them to take care of Little Dumpling so I can see her on the weekends. If I have time, I can also see her after class. I love Little Dumpling, and I will definitely bring her with me when I go to college.

My Favorite city is Huangshan City. Huangshan City is right next to Hangzhou, but there are no direct flights from Hawaii to Huangshan City. Huangshan City is very special because it has the Huangshan mountain range, a lot of country villages, and very delicious tea. The Huangshan mountain range is very famous, for it is even on the back of the 5 yuan bill. Huangshan isn't actually yellow (its name means yellow mountain). The yellow emperor (the first emperor of China) gave Huangshan its name, so we call it Huangshan today. Huangshan is vast and beautiful, just like the Chinese paintings of the mountains. Although it sometimes has too many tourists, once you see Huangshan, you won't want to go to see any of the other famous Chinese mountains. Huangshan's pine trees, sea of clouds, and gorgeous mountains have inspired the movie Avatar. From the Huangshan City airport, you need to take a car, bus, cable car, and walk just to get to Huangshan. The mountains are a bit hard to hike, so if your health is not good or if you're too tired, you can have people carry you on a chair up the mountains. However, once you hike Huangshan mountains, you can hike any mountain. Huangshan City has some rural villages, including Hongcun, Chengkan, and Tangmo. Every village grows gorgeous lotus flowers, but every village's lotuses are not alike. Some are pink, while others are white. Some flowers are very big and tall, while others are neither too big nor too small. If you like Chinese movies, you will definitely like these villages. The Fairy's Marriage and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon were filmed in a Huangshan village. You can learn a lot of Chinese culture from these villages. You can learn fengshui, Chinese history, and Chinese myths. Huangshan also has very famous tea, especially their chrysanthemum tea. Huangshan's cool weather is great for growing tea. Everywhere in Huangshan they grow either green tea or chrysanthemum tea. Chrysanthemum tea is delicious and pretty. I put two chrysanthemum flowers per cup of tea. Huangshan chrysanthemum tea or green tea makes a great present.

Diamond Head is a very green mountain in the winter, but a large pile of dirt in the summer. With the sun beating down overhead, the trees live in a harsh environment and cannot grow. Diamond Head used to be a military lookout that was owned by the government. Now it is only a tourist attraction to which La Pietra girls go for PE. Most Japanese people ask for directions from the locals, so La Pietra girls usually just tell them to go all the way around the mountain until there is an opening to go in. We are very helpful in that way. Although not very long, the trail is difficult because of the many staircases. Diamond Head is a telltale sign of Oahu, and it will stay that way for years to come.

# Do you prefer cola or tea? Then, do you like basketball or swimming? Every day, we have many decisions to make, but high school students have especially hard decisions to make. Can you guess about what? That's right! It's about college.!Right now, my classmates and I are all looking for a suitable college. But, before I apply, I need to know what kind of university I want to go to. Do you want to go to a close or far school? Do you think you can live in cold weather? Some parents think the financial problem of sending their children to college is the most important. As soon as children are born, parents start saving up money for their college tuition. Every year the cost of college tuition and living expenses constantly increases. So, there are a lot of college students who work part time as they study. Some people work as tutors and others work as waiters at restaurants. Next year, I definitely want to make money working part time to lessen my parentsʼ financial burden. I also think that a less expensive tuition, compared to going to a famous school, is better. ! In addition to financial matters, the type of school a college is also very important. College is usually far from home. If I go to California next year, I won't be able to see my dad, mom, and little brother every day. I am very scared to live in a new place with strangers. However, everybody says this new college experience gives people a satisfying new perspective. My mom says, "When you move, you will understand how hard it is to support yourself." My dad says, "You will miss our mom's delicious meals." I know that they are both right, but I know my college experience will also be fun and interesting. As college approaches, I become more and more nervous but I am also a little excited. Financial and location are both important topics, but prepping for college is also important. ! People say going to college is hard and stressful. That is true, if you do not prepare well for college. After you know what school you want to attend, make sure to apply early.

Hello, how are you doing? I haven't been writing letters recently. This term I am very busy; I have nutrition, biology, creative writing, and Chinese. Nutrition is interesting, Biology is a little bit hard. Creative Writing is easy, Chinese is hard, but the teacher teaches the students a lot of new words and grammar. In the afternoon I exercise. It is hard, but I like doing it. At night I eat dinner and do homework simultaneously. I like to chat with friends, but I don't get to often because I don't have free time. I’m visiting California in December. We should watch a movie and get lunch together. In the morning we should go shopping for clothes. What kind of clothes do you like to wear? I like to wear shorts and shirts, but I can’t wear shirts and shorts in California. Do you like to sing? When I visit you in California, can we go sing karaoke? See you, Malaya

. 3 . . La Pietra .

Itʼs already February of 2015. I remember writing a paragraph for the Passport as a new student in 10th grade. I am about to graduate in May; it feels as if time flew. Everything was different and surprising to me when I first came to La Pietra; however, I was able to gain and learn a lot throughout the past three years. Wherever I end up after graduating from La Pietra, I am certain that the knowledge and wisdom I earned here at La Pietra would lead and support me. I already miss the campus, teachers and friends, so I would like to spend meaningful time until the graduation.
