Pearl 95 by Kelly Hoppen MBE The Pearl 95 continues the highly successful design collaboration between Bill Dixon and the internationally renowned British designer Kelly Hoppen MBE. As innovative and groundbreaking as its smaller sisters, the Pearl 95 is even more luxurious and impeccably appointed, offering style and performance in a larger scale. The exquisite interior by Kelly Hoppen features luxurious materials such as marble, teak, ceramic and linen. The new Pearl 95 features the exclusive Kelly Hoppen luxurious interior design, on par with the impeccable standards expected by superyacht owners. The owner’s cabin is located forward on the main deck and features a full beam design maximising space and creating a class leading cabin. “For me, space and open living are key on yachts.” – Kelly Hoppen MBE. The main deck saloon is vast with space for a huge L-shaped sofa and a dining table for eight. A unique feature is the floor to ceiling fully glazed automatic patio doors on three sides of

the saloon which when open allow for an unrivalled connection to the outdoors. “All the joinery is hand designed and sketched with the layering of different textures whether wood, metals, suedes, leathers and fabrics. I also layered the materials in a unique way to create depth and beauty as a yacht is all about sleek lines, open space and of course safety as it is a movable home.” On the lower deck, the Pearl 95 also features two double cabins and two twin cabins, all ensuite with
owners given the option to specify a breath-taking full beam cabin with walk-in wardrobe and large bathroom in place of the two double cabins. “This is our fourth yacht but it is the largest for pearl yachts. I wanted to create something more defined by using a different colour wood that I believe gave it a grandeur and designing many more details in the joinery while still keeping the Hoppen branding. We also doubled on lighting details.” – Kelly Hoppen www.kellyhoppeninteriors.com

Leading Leicester specialist interiors and joinery contractor celebrates 90 years of apprenticeships EE Smith Contracts has trained 300 craftsmen and women over this period, with 60 per cent of its current factory payroll former apprentices. One of the UK’s leading specialist interiors contractors is celebrating 90 years operating one of the longest running and most successful apprenticeship schemes in the country, this National Apprenticeship Week (4-8 March). With over 70 former apprentices making up its workforce, Leicester’s EE Smith Contracts champions its ‘train and retain’ culture, which routinely sees apprentices progress up the ladder to senior management level. This includes its own production director, John Richardson, who was part of a management buyout in 2016. John, 48, became a second-generation EE Smith apprentice in 1986, having followed in his late father’s footsteps. He progressed to bench joiner, foreman and then production manager before becoming production director in 2008. His late father, Basil Richardson, was taken on as an apprentice in 1937, and within in ten years, became EE Smith Contracts’ managing director. John, who now oversees all factory and drawing office 06 Luxury Interiors Magazine April 2019
apprentices, says, “I’m proud to be a product of the EE Smith apprenticeship scheme. “Good apprenticeships are an aspirational option for ambitious, highly talented individuals. It’s a great opportunity to earn on the job and we always promote from within the business. “Our apprenticeship programme allows us to maintain and boost our skills pool. It is the quality of our scheme along with the firm prospects of gateway roles and onward career progression, that makes EE Smith a destination of choice for top talent in our 100,000sqm Leicester workshops and onsite at builds and fitouts across some of London’s most prestigious locations.” One person taking advantage of the opportunities is 16-year-old Spencer Lee, EE Smith’s youngest apprentice. Trainee joiner, Spencer said: “I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted to develop a hands-on skill. To work for a prestigious company like EE Smith is a great opportunity and knowing there is real career progression is a fantastic incentive to do your best.” John stated: “It’s great to see young people like Spencer choosing a career with us. Apprentices allow us to future-proof the business and keep valuable and vital skills inhouse. “We are always on the lookout for our next senior board member!” EE Smith works in partnership with both Leicester and West London Technical College and takes on up to 20 new apprentices a year across the factory, drawing office and on site.

EE Smith can trace its roots back to a single, small shop in Leicester in 1897. It is still based in the city but now operates in over 100,000 sq. ft of facilities.

Our aim, therefore, is to work with our clients to to create their perfect, personalised table, accessories and lighting. History Our family-run business began with the restoration, renovation and reproduction of Antique billiard tables. Along the way, we discovered the dual-purpose dining tables that were so popular in the Victorian era, and did our best to re-produce and re-create these wonderful peices of furniture. Over the years we have refined and developed the mechanisms that transform the tables from dining tables to playing tables, and our client’s increasingly diverse requirements for these and for bespoke pool, snooker and billiards tables, have led us to make more and varied designs.
Using different woods & metals, with personally selected finishes and details, introducing new leg designs & cushion surrounds to alter the ‘silhouette’, many designs have been re-iterated many times. Some have been so strikingly individual they are effectively unique. Most importantly, our focus has always been on producing individual pieces of the highest quality. As a result we have become globally renowned amongst private clients and Interior designers, for the beauty and attention to detail of our craftsmen’s work. Whether your search is for an Antique, second-hand, bespoke or replica table, for billiards, snooker or for pool, for a stunning contemporary rollover or an elegant wind-up dual- purpose table for dining and playing, you are sure to find either exactly what you are looking for or the inspiration to specify your very own custom-made and designed table.

arta
Wood, you believe it. arta marks a turning point in the design of natural wood chairs. A newly developed technology connecting the frame allows the chair legs and plinths to slant in extremely elegant lines unprecedented with wood chairs until now. Innovative technology and well-conceived construction have paved the way for this highclass, gracious design of arta. arta‘s design mainly aims at combining the “harmonious” character of wood – natural, warm and comfortable – with future technological demands. It is extremely versatile for applications in public areas: ranging from hotel restaurants, places of worship, museums and galleries, multipurpose areas and halls for different types of events. Due to its freely moving backrest and the slim frame the chair appears light and elegant. The ergonomic shape of the shell guarantees maximum seating comfort. arta’s high standard of quality is not only reflected in its design, but also in its construction and use of materials. The construction is notable for its sturdy, long-lasting quality. All wooden parts come from local sustainable and ecologically managed renewable forests (PEFCcertified wood). arta offers interesting differentiation options:
• Frame and shell are available in various beech and oak shades. The plywood shell is available either upholstered or with a laminated surface in black or white. • Stackability - Up to four chairs with or without arms.
• Row seating - arta chairs are also available as linking chairs, supplied with seat numbers on request. Design: arge2 www.wiesner-hager.com/en/ products/chairs/arta-68/

Journey to the Kitchen Island How the room at the back of the house became the centre of the home The kitchen is perhaps the most multifaceted room of the modern home. Long gone are the days when it was a room relegated to the back of the house for cooking, food prep and cleaning. Today’s kitchens are a hub of technology, and a space for socialising, working and eating, and when it comes to the traditional kitchen tasks these are often shared amongst many hands. Modern kitchen islands are the backdrop of daily domestic family life, as well as where the party’s at, but even more than this, Tim Hayward suggests in his book The Modern Kitchen, ‘the kitchen is a constantly mutating expression of self’. It comes as no surprise then that the kitchen is often the room we spend most money on and the room we feel most at home in. Of all the rooms in the house, the kitchen has seen the most transformation in the past 100 years. One of the most iconic kitchen designs of the 20th Century – so much so that it’s celebrated in museums around the world, including London’s own Design Museum – is the Frankfurt Kitchen, designed by Margarete SchütteLihotzky in 1926. In the pursuit of ultimate kitchen efficiency, SchutteLihotzky and her team carried out extensive time-andmotion studies to understand how a user moves around the kitchen, with the goal of reconfiguring the layout and design of appliances to reduce the number of steps required between each task, in turn, decreasing stress and increasing time for other interests. The finished result was the first ever fitted-kitchen and measured a mere 1.9 x 3.4 metres. It’s design was so efficient that the Frankfurt Kitchen is often referred to as being designed like a factory.
12 Luxury Interiors Magazine April 2019
RB12 Frankfurt Kitchen
In stark contrast, the post-war years welcomed the open-plan kitchen into the home. A concept often attributed to Frank Lloyd-Wright, this kitchen turned the notion of ‘kitchen as factory’ on its head, with a design that was as adept for entertaining as it was for preparing food. The pièce-de-résistance of the open-plan kitchen was of course the kitchen-island from which we’ve never looked back! Today many would argue that the open-plan kitchen has overtaken the role of the living room as the primary social space of the home. Certainly, the Minà kitchen island by Minacciolo is the hub in the
RB12 Design Shop Minà’s industrial aesthetic is paired beautifully with delicately crafted worktops, and details, like the bright red temperature knobs reminiscent of antique boilers, that lovingly hark-back to tradition as well as look great against the range’s contemporary dark grey finish. Full of character and the latest in kitchen technology, the Minà is at total ease being centre of attention – and that’s just as well, as we love putting it through its paces with cooking demonstrations for those customers looking for flexible, innovative kitchen solutions. The Falcon restaurant - A Grade II listed building in Buntingford, Hertfordshire In December, Chef Kieren Steinborn-Busse and his wife, Natasha, opened a restaurant in Natasha’s home county of Hertfordshire, in the historic market town of Buntingford. The Falcon offers dishes that reflect Kieren’s love of British food, based around seasonal, local produce wherever possible - deliberately moving away from overcomplicated, haute cuisine. Working with local suppliers, Kieren changes his menu regularly, based on the produce sourced from the likes of Priors Hall Farm, Amwell Fruit Company and The Cheese Plate, a local cheesemonger in the town. A sumptuous Sunday roast is a staple in the winter months while smoked and grilled meat and fish will feature in the lighter summery dishes. The close-knitfront of house team is led by Natasha, offering warm and friendly service, knowledgeable and passionate about the food and wine they serve. The restaurant itself is a Grade II listed building that has been faithfully restored by interior designer, Jo Eastham, and features an intimate dining room of 28 covers, with two 14 Luxury Interiors Magazine April 2019

private dining rooms upstairs (seating up to 10 people each). The Oak Room and The Drawing Room offer a range of sharer menus, featuring British classics such as Beef Wellington and Saddle of Lamb, perfect for group bookings where friends and families can gather to eat, drink and make merry. Designer Jo Eastham has taken on the challenge of restoring the building with care, referencing historic photographs to recreate some of the original features. Decorative ironwork from Greenwich Forge has been installed, while the dark window frames and the cream-coloured building facade hark back to the original exterior design, when the building functioned as a cobbler’s. The main dining room has low ceilings and wooden floorboards with a cosy, intimate feel, furnished with linen cafe curtains, antique chairs and bronze hand-blown glass wall lamps that shed a warm light over the room, reflecting off the backdrop of textured walls. Contemporary glass screens wall the entrance way to add a modern twist, commissioned specially for the project and made by a glass designer based in Brooklyn, New York. Up a narrow staircase sit two private dining rooms, The Oak Room and The Drawing Room. Originally private accommodation, this is the first time the upstairs space has been open to the public. The larger of the two rooms features Francesca Paint ‘Knowledge Green’ lime washed walls and a statement table from reclaimed oak over which a bespoke rectangular Royal Bellefeu pendant light suspends, showing off the high vaulted ceiling and stunning original beams. The second room is more intimate and painted a dark Tanners Brown. Sumptuous de Le Cuona linen curtains and Rothschilds & Bickers pendant lights are reflected by a set of architectural mirrors that were once English window panes. In addition, guests can look out for the hand painted delft tiles, commissioned specially for the project, each with their own bespoke design, depicting historical scenes from the local area, some with a comical twist and an occasional Star Wars Yoda for good measure.

Martyn Lawrence Bullard partnered with PRG Hospitality Group to design Sands Hotel & Spa Martyn Lawrence Bullard, renowned for his broad range of styles and eclectic, yet sophisticated and inviting interiors, has designed the Sands Hotel & Spa in Indian Wells. The hotel, originally a late 1950s era property in the heart of Indian Wells, has been completely reimagined in collaboration with the boutique hotel group PRG Hospitality Group. The Sands Hotel & Spa has undergone a total redesign, with new building additions, and substantial interior and exterior renovations. Bullard formerly partnered with the group on the Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs and Casa Laguna Hotel and Spa in Laguna Beach. The Sands Hotel & Spa features 46 guest rooms, including two suites and one bi-level Presidential Suite, all-new public spaces, pool deck and landscaping, a private wedding garden, a signature on-property restaurant and a luxury spa. DESIGN The hotel’s new design reflects Bullard’s Moroccan inspired influence, with the midcentury aesthetic complimenting perfectly with the desert’s everlasting allure. A rich, emerald green palette with deep blue tones accent the desert’s rose-pink backdrop on the reimagined exterior. The black, white and glass details set the design by bringing both midcentury and contemporary, modern-day style to life. The company’s flagship branch opened on Wigmore Street in London in March. Not only does it outperform real marble, it’s also extremely hardwearing and hygienic thank to its antimicrobial and non-porous properties that are conducive to a sterile environment. Interview
Luxury Interiors Magazine spoke with Lay Koon Tan founder of Nature Squared about how she’s attempted to turn vicious economic circles into virtuous ones through sustainable supply chains 1.
What determined your passion for design? Tell us about the moment you decided this was the career for you.
I have a passion for Nature and Nature’s design. I had the privilege to grow up very close to nature in Malaysia, before economic development became an overriding priority. My earliest memories are of beautiful shells and corals, brightly-coloured birds and lush vegetation. I am also a keen diver, as is my business partner, Paul Hoeve. Everyone who has watched Blue Planet 2 can identify with the breathtaking beauty of the underwater world. But as a diver, you experience it with a heightened sensory awareness. The structures, colours and textures are all magnified. The Fibonacci golden ratio manifested in a seashell is much more attractive than in a banana skin! At Nature Squared, our aim is to amplify, enhance and translate Nature’s designs.
2.
How was the idea for Nature Squared born?
Back in 2000, my friend Paul Hoeve and I were bemoaning the state of the world. We were particularly concerned that insufficient attention was being paid to sustainability. We felt that most people were either apathetic or driven by a single issue (like climate change; social development or endangered species). Few initiatives took a holistic multi-facetted view of sustainability balancing social, environmental and economic factors. Having had successful careers in Finance, it was time to “give something back”. So we took our key drivers: a passion for nature, a desire to preserve heritage skills and to create jobs in developing countries, our view of sustainability ….and came up with Nature Squared. The idea of making surfaces out of sustainable natural materials, using superlative craftsmanship was a pretty obvious one. Perhaps less obviously, we chose to pitch it at the highest end of the market, targeting superyachts and private jets, because we felt our product should be uncompromising in its beauty and quality, dispelling any associations with souvenirquality handicrafts made by cheap labour in third-world countries.

Interview Our mussel and abalone shells come from communitybased farms in South Africa (where they are discarded when the animals are canned); our eggshells from farms and hatcheries; sea urchin spines from local fishermen; tobacco leaves as the sub-standard (for smoking!) plantation produce. We are currently working with one of the world’s oldest conservation agencies to identify communities where they have active projects, as we aim to create a virtuous circle where their conservation efforts result in tangible financial gains. All our materials are subject to an annual review programme to ensure that we continue to comply with our policies. I have a deep antipathy for those whose view is that our people must be producing cheap low quality goods because they work in a developing country. And that the fruits of their skill, imagination and labour are something to be copied and thus devalued. 3.
Have you always designed using natural materials?
Natural materials are the bedrock of our existence so, yes. 4.
How important is sustainable and ethical sourcing to you?
It is an integral part of our core values. As I explained before, our motivation in establishing Nature Squared was to progress the sustainability agenda. We aim for 100% traceability on our natural materials. And we go further: we start with the source. We have been able to develop many of the natural materials with which we work because we have chosen to monetise a previously value-less material for our sources. We usually start by identifying a by-product of another industry or activity that would otherwise be discarded as waste; or by finding a fast-growing and abundant material. For example, we take well-known food products like mussels or chicken (or some less well-known, like frogs and sea urchins!); or well-known botanicals like thatching reed or tobacco leaves. Our first question is always: are their populations safe and sustainable? If necessary, we will consult with subject-matter experts (eg conservation experts, conchologists, rangers) as well local experts (eg fishermen and farmers) to ensure that there are no global or local environmental concerns on supply. Then we identify and assess our source(s) to ensure they meet our standards for both environmental and social welfare. Where we harvest materials ourselves, or otherwise influence the harvesting process, we aim to maximise the employment of the local population, with a strong preference for community-based projects. Where we do not harvest materials ourselves, the depth of sourcing that is practically possible depends on the individual material.
5.
How do you go about sustainably sourcing your animal derived materials? E.g. leathers, feathers and egg shells.
The use of animal products is increasingly controversial and divisive. We believe it needs to be transparent and openly discussed. Our view is that the use of animal products is a personal one, whether for food, clothing, shelter or adornment. Our own red lines are that: • the animals should come from sustainable populations and species; • be eaten if at all possible; • be reared and killed humanely; and • not be bred for human use other than for food. To meet these standards, we ensure that we involve subject matter experts at the earliest opportunity and to partner with like-minded suppliers. For example our South African shells come from a farm that is a member of SASSI (the South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative) Specifically to your examples: • Leathers: The only leathers we use are fish skins from puffer and trigger fish. These fish are discarded by our local fishermen because they cannot safely be eaten without specialist preparation. You may have heard of a Japanese specialty called fugu, which contains a toxin and can kill if not prepared by a qualified chef. This is a puffer fish variety. As the fishermen can neither sell nor eat them, we buy them and use their skins so that they do not go entirely to waste. • Feathers: Our feathers are all from birds that enter the food chain: chickens, geese, pheasants, partridges. These birds are usually either mechanically plucked or only selectively butchered. For example , pheasant breasts are saleable but the rest of the bird often goes into landfill. So we started to work with my friends Christina Tooley of Chevron Hackles and Andy Gray of MC Kelly to harvest the feathers by hand. We know exactly where the birds are coming from and control every step of the feathers’ journey ourselves. • Eggshells: Our duck and chicken eggshells come from farms and bakeries with whom we have direct contact. (We prefer the ones from farms because the hole made by the chick or duckling on hatching leaves more of the shell intact than when an egg is cracked in baking!). Interview 6.
What does the design process of your interiors products involve?
We design the surfaces; our designers and specifiers decide how to apply them, in discussion and collaboration with us. For our own Signature Furniture Collection launching in Milan this spring, we have worked with the hugely talented Bethan Gray. Bethan took inspiration from our existing portfolio of surfaces and then developed them further in applying them to coffee tables, side tables, desks, shelving and upholstery. We found common ground in valuing the material’s journey as part of the design process For our Bespoke projects, we often develop the surface before we know the final application, which might be anything from a ceiling to a wash basin; a lighting feature to a furniture item. We work with the interior design team on the aesthetic then once we know what the item is, we will define/develop the technical solution. We also support the interior design team with CGIs and drawings, where appropriate. Once in production, we will project manage both what we are producing in-house, as well as any other suppliers necessary to realise the specification (eg for metal or timber elements; mechanical components etc) In the development process, we do try to suggest more environmentally-friendly alternatives like leaving surfaces uncoated (or only coated for protection) rather than having them coated in a thick lacquer layer. We will also refuse to use any material where we have a political concern, usually linked to smuggling and/ or conflict funding. While such materials may well be environmentally sustainable, we will either offer an alternative, or if none is available, decline the spec. 7.
Global warming has been a big conversation topic for years now; do you believe that more companies adopting your approach to design could make a positive difference to the current global state?
We’ve been at this for nearly 20 years. In that period we’ve seen a sea change in public opinion and awareness. We find that groundswell of awareness very encouraging because this issue needs recognition by all project stakeholders (designers and architects; end-clients, builders and installers…). You can have designers who does their best to suggest sustainable product but if the end-client doesn’t share the same values, then decisions are made on aesthetic and/or functionality alone. So it’s ideal when what is attractive and functional, is also virtuous! 8.
How do you feel that your work has evolved over time?
While our values and basic approach have remained unchanged, our portfolio of surfaces is large and constantly growing. At last count, we had over 3,000 covering an ever-wider range of raw materials and a broader group of source communities. Our skills and solutions continue to grow: we’ve learnt to apply eggshell to pens, car dashboards and bathtub interiors! 9.
Do you find that you have a more select clientele due to your way of design?
Yes absolutely – we have been extremely fortunate in having developed a core group of loyal clients who appreciate the look, feel, quality of our work as well as the values we espouse. We do a lot of repeat work for them. The challenge for us now is to broaden our appeal to a slightly wider audience. 10. How do you ensure a consistent luxury feel throughout all your work? We control the process from A to Z. We own our Production facilities and have over 150 master craftspeople, supported by draftsman, engineers, project managers, CGI capability, all fully employed by us. In addition, we have our own lab and invest significantly in R&D. All this is reflected in our signature quality levels in what is visible, as well as in the high technical content that is invisible. 11. 32 Luxury Interiors Magazine April 2019
If you had no limits (money, resources) what would be you create?
Interview
A self-regenerating version of our surfaces with structural properties! I am fascinated by the development of self-healing concretes that incorporate limestone-producing bacteria to mend cracks; and the juxtaposition of microbiology with building design. Wouldn’t it be revolutionary, to produce a range of beautiful surfaces whose appearance morphs with the action of the living bacteria over time? One of the constantly recurring themes on our projects is the desire to fight and control nature. It would be great to embrace the unpredictable actions of nature instead. 12. Are there any specific designers whose work has inspired you or your work? John Ruskin. Although not a designer, he was a towering influence on design and aesthetics; form and function. Of course he famously inspired the Arts and Crafts movement but his philosophy encapsulated and anticipated today’s thinking on sustainability from both an environmental and a social perspective; relating art, nature and society. The likes of William Morris, Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright all acknowledged his influence. My favourite John Ruskin quote: Fine art is that in which the hand, the head, and the heart of man go together 13. What have been some of your favourite projects? - And some of your most challenging projects? Each and every project has had its own appeal; its own set of challenges and personalities. I love shoes and I love what David Collins Studios did with our materials in Harrods’ Shoe Heaven. It’s dramatic without detracting attention from the shoes
on display. They also created a fabulous ambience with our eggshell tables in Ella Canta, celebrity chef Martha Ortiz’s London restaurant. The patterning is bold and complements the sophisticated earthiness of the menu. Having focused so heavily on the superyacht and private jet market until 3 years ago, we have had many challenging projects! One memorable example was a boat with the brief to encapsulate a bamboo grove in the main saloon. We painstakingly took apart the leaves, twigs and stems of each bamboo plant, treated and reassembled them before encapsulating them in resin. Imagine the work - each leaf and each hollow stem had to be individually treated; and since the whole was to be back-lit, we could not afford a single air bubble anywhere. The technical challenge was immense. The end-result was pretty dramatic – a suitable setting for the accompanying terrarium of water dragons and iguanas! 14. What’s next for you and Nature Squared, what are your future plans? This April at the Salone de Mobile in Milan, we will launch our Signature Furniture Collection designed by Bethan Gray. We are very excited as the designs showcase the beauty of the materials and quality of the craftsmanship to perfection. We are also keen to develop collaborations with artists, several of whom we have worked with before. We are convinced that their fresh perspectives will jolt people’s imaginations and their interaction with Nature. To quote Ruskin again: Nature is painting for us, day after day, pictures of infinite beauty if only we have the eyes to see them. April 2019 Luxury Interiors Magazine 33

Interview
Luxury Interiors Magazine spoke with Luxury Candle Company Owner and Interior Designer Victoria Cator about all things Interior Design and Fragrances
1.
What determined your passion for design?
As a child I lived in many different places and I was exposed to many different cultures. I think it was a desire to re-design my bedroom with each new space I found myself in order to feel ‘home’. 2.
Have you always been a creative person?
From an early age, I loved drawing and painting but also making useful things out of fabric remnants or painting pieces of furniture to give them a new lease of life. 3.
What inspired you to set up your own luxury candle business?
I have always adored scent and how the smell of a room can evoke memories and create an inviting space. It was a desire to create my own memories through fragrance that led me to start my own brand and to create a candle with an even and clean burn but also one with a scent throw that was long lasting. 4.
Do you think there is a link between interior design and fragrance?
In the world of design, the ability to engage with all the senses is crucial, particularly one’s sense of smell. Fragrance in interior design is just as important as sight, touch and sound as the use of scent in ones living and working space can not only enhance the décor but also have positive effects on how we feel. 5.
Does fragrance play an important role in the home?
The immediate reaction when one sees a beautifully designed room is to take a gasp and perhaps exhale a ‘wow’. Unconsciously, this action allows you to take in the smell of the room as well as the sight of it, immediately making the entrance more inviting. Fragrance has an important role to play in our well-being and scented products add a silent design element to the home. 36 Luxury Interiors Magazine April 2019
Interview 6.
Talk us through your design process; do you sketch out your ideas? How are they brought to life?
“In the world of design, the ability to engage with all the senses is crucial, particularly one’s sense of smell. Fragrance in interior design is just as important as sight, touch and sound as the use of scent in ones living and working space can not only enhance the décor but also have positive effects on how we feel.”
I am lucky that I am able to visualise colour and layout in my head. I tend to ‘doodle these on to paper along with creating a fan of fabric swatches to bring my visualisation to life. 7.
Who or what inspires you?
I continue to draw inspiration from so many things whether it be a beautiful picture or a random object in a junk shop. I don’t have a specific mentor but I do get drawn to likes of Alberto Pinto, Diana Vreeland and Marella Agnelli for their style and exquisite taste. 8.
What would be your advice for other women who want to set up their own business?
Follow your passion because if you enjoy something enough, you’re invariably going to be good at it. 9.
What was your design inspiration for your home?
Soane for their incredible colour palette of wallpapers and fabrics and Rose Uniacke for her style of classical simplicity. 10. What are your future ambitions? Are there any projects you have upcoming that you are excited about? I am very excited about the launch of two new fragrances coming out later in the year along with a range of diffusers and room sprays. I am also in the process of creating my first Eau de Parfum which I hope to launch in 2020! April 2019 Luxury Interiors Magazine 37

Director of the Royal Circus falls for the exclusive world of Boca do Lobo Designed for a person with eccentric and iconic personality, the Director of the Royal Circus of Russia, Giya Eradze, trusted Tatyana Myronova’s expertise in American Neoclassical style for this project. The interior designer, who is most famous for exquisite interiors, gathered the passion for entertaining and amusement of the owner with Boca do Lobo’s unique and iconic piece, Imperfectio from Limited Edition, to make the apartment a circus honor. Intended to be a place for private business, Giya’s apartment is different from all that was ever seen. It’s luxurious, emblematic, iconic. The goal was to make him feel like he’s in his private circus, a place that reflected the best parts of his work and his personality. The decoration of the apartment is remarkable for its gold, exotic and bold accessories. Imponent pieces that combine between themselves in a harmonious and interesting way. The Director didn’t hide his fascination for the famous, colorful and intense patterns of the recognized brand, Versace. In the apartment, especially in the dining room, is noticeable the presence of its designs like the gold animals that Giya loves. Gold is present everywhere in the apartment, in all the details and patterns. A combination of tropical and exotic colors with royal touches and exquisite ornaments. Pieces like the astonishing armchair, Imperfectio, by Boca do Lobo are distinguishable as luxury and exclusive, honoring the owner. The armchair enhances a message to the living room, is the expression of imperfect aesthetic, the appeal of that which is authentic art and that is truer to life. Just like the circus, the living room’s decoration, specially the April 2019 Luxury Interiors Magazine 39

armchair, expresses imperfection and, at the same time, confluency between its pieces of furniture. It creates a sense of delightness, celebration and happiness. Giya Eradze describes his apartment as bold, chic, wild, and most of all, royal. Conveys the atmosphere of a circus: celebration, ease, enjoyment and contentedness. The diversity of colors and the miscellany of textures present in all the apartment evoke a versitile personality, a taste for luxury and art. An eclectic bathroom, that remotes to the Ancient Greece in a melodic and elegant way. The ceiling of the room represents the African Savanna and the warm colors of the continent. A fusion of different parts of the planet, cultures and traditions. Tatyana Myronova project is an authentic elevation of design to a whole new level, is revolutionary and unique. A masterly designed synthesis of an iconic personality with a luxury and extravagant decoration.
