CALL OF THE WILD
TUDOR JOINS MORGAN BOURC’HIS ON AN AMBITIOUS DOCUMENTARY JOURNEY
World freediving champion Morgan Bourc’his has spent plenty of time every day in the sea, but when he set off for northern Norway on a mission to swim with whales, he found himself facing an epic challenge, knowing that these creatures hide far out to sea. “I had to face certain fears,” he said. “But my concerns were more related to that vast expanse. I was able to ease my mind through repeated dives alongside those super predators, sometimes at night.”
Bourc’his’ adventure was documented in The Quest for Nature, a flm initiated by underwater chief of photography and director Jean-Charles Granjon. As a friend of TUDOR, Bourc’his also had the support of expert timekeeping on his wrist throughout his dives. And, as a watch brand whose history is closely tied to adventure, explorers, and ocean life, TUDOR’s presence was a perfect choice. During his second visit to Norway, Bourc’his stayed on the small, remote island of Spildra, where the population is fewer than 20 people. “Spending time in a remote environment, yet one that offers all modern comforts, nevertheless forced us to examine our relationship with time and human civilisation,” he said. “The ultra-urban environment in which I live is more disconnected from the environment, and it's more tamed and organised where we are. It's no longer truly wild or free.”
