OF MEMBERSHIP

Congratulations to all the remarkable young men and women in our LC community who graduated from high school and college in 2024.

Watching these exceptional individuals grow up within the warm and supportive environment of our club has been a truly rewarding experience. Many of you joined us as children, participating in our youth programs, learning to swim in our pool, perfecting your backhand or mastering your golf swing on our courses. Over the years, we’ve seen you develop not only your athletic skills but also your character, leadership abilities, and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Whether you’re heading off to college, starting a new job, or embarking on exciting adventures, know that your Laurel Creek family is incredibly proud of you. We believe in your potential to make a significant impact wherever you go. Remember, Laurel Creek Country Club will always be part of you, and we look forward to hearing about your future successes and welcoming you back whenever you visit.

Congratulations once again to the Class of 2024! May your future be as bright and promising as the paths you’ve paved here at the club.

LCWGA

May has been a busy month for the women golfers at LC. Wednesday Tournaments have been well attended and by the smiles of golfers at lunch it appears that all are enjoying the camaraderie of both golf and socializing after. Member-Member on June 5th and 12th is right around the corner so make sure you and your partner are registered. Promises for great “theatre” that day.

The WGAP team had an incredible, undefeated season led by captain Christine Blessing and won the 13th cup. This means the team will move to the 12th cup next year. Kudos to all the golfers and we will look forward to many more exciting seasons. As a reminder you can join WGAP (look for info on their website) as it allows you to play in tournaments and open days at other very good clubs in the area.

Jersey Girls League is off to a great start with its first match being held at Medford Lakes with LC coming in second place. There are four teams in this league: Laurel Creek, Little Mill, Medford Lakes and Medford Village. The league is a fun low-key event with a Stableford format and a shout out goes to Chrissy Duman for earning the most points for LC at its first match. Ineke Daniels, Eileen Burke, Lynne Sergi, Kelly Redkay and Rita Gordon all contributed to the points total. A yummy lunch was enjoyed by all after the match. Congratulations Jersey Girls!

President’s and Secretary’s Cup is up and running with matches being played as we speak. Round 1 matches end on Sunday June 23rd so make sure they are scheduled asap. Looking forward to hearing the results.

The Nine Hole Match Play League (captain Susan Studley) has played several matches against other clubs to include Moorestown Field Club, Ramblewood, Riverton and Merchantville. Medford Lakes will be their last opponent on June 11th. Currently, LC has 10 wins, 9 losses and 1 tie. Way to go Nine Holers! Good luck with the last match of the season.

Heidi Bourke and Jennifer Halfpenny are planning the first 9-Hole Invitational to be played at Riverton on June 25th and LC will host on July 17th. So far there are 8 players and 2 alternates signed up. This is a fun league with each invitational having a different theme. The theme at Riverton is Birds of Paradise. Wonder what LC’s theme will be?

Finally, The Women’s Trenton District Golf Association (WTDGA) held its first tournament of the year and a group of golfers from LC participated in an All-Net Tournament at Peddie Golf Club on Thursday May 23rd. Christine Blessing and Eileen Ramasamy came in 4th and 5th respectively in Flight One and Lynne Demmerly came in second in her Flight. Congratulations to the winners and to all who played.

Coming up: Twilight Golf on June 11th, July 9th, August 20th @ 5:30 pm; Nine and Social Golf on August 29th@ 5:30 pm. Enjoy our beautiful golf course at one of these events. Conditions are great!

See you on the Golf Course!

CONGRATULATIONS

DIRECTOR OF FOOD & BEVERAGE

It was so great to see everyone down at the pool this Memorial Day weekend. My first-time seeing the Oasis and the creamery in action and it lived up to the hype. All the kids having a great time at the splash pad and all the cabanas filled with families enjoying the sun and festivities.

I don’t think I have ever seen so much ice cream going out of a shop that’s not Rita’s. Good thing we have nice new soft serve equipment and a milk shake blender station to keep up with the demand. Between soft serve, cones, hard scoop, water ice or mini melts we have all your sweet treat needs met. Joel is making sure we have plenty of fresh Chipwiches available as well, as they are near and dear to his heart. Stay tuned as we are working on our exciting new sundae selection in the clubhouse as well.

If you didn’t happen to grab a frozen drink at Oasis this past weekend, make sure to check our options at your next visit to the pool. Our new Island Oasis machine can make our selection of 25 frozen drinks in a matter of minutes. All our frozen drinks can be made virgin as well. If those 25 options are not enough for you, we can make just about any cocktail or beverage offered into a frozen drink.

We have also added a new selection of nonalcoholic beers down to the pool for those who are looking for a quenching beverage that is 0% proof. Athletic Brewing is a rising non-alcoholic brand brewing a great quality variety of pilsners, hazy IPA’S and amber ales. For those enjoying wine and mimosas we now have acrylic wine glasses and champagne flutes to enjoy your wine safely next to the pool.

Chef Pete has also been working hard on a menu for the pool with a wide variety for everyone tastes. There are 25 options with some of the same staples everyone looks for at the pool. We want to mention that the pool does have copacity of around 250 people. A member can have their immediate family in their entirety as well as four additional guests.

As always, we love the membership’s feedback so feel free to contact myself or any of the F&B team with your comments.

DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE OPERATIONS

The Medal tee on #8 was recently reopened without a whole lot of fanfare. As you may recall, last fall we stripped off the existing turf, releveled and seeded the tee, prior to covering it for the winter.

While there may not have been a ribbon cutting ceremony, hopefully everyone is able to appreciate the firmer teeing ground and additional area we were able to create during this process. Seeding may require more patience than sodding, however the end result is typically superior.
