WHY DOES GOOGLE MAPS WORK SO WELL?
I was recently reading an article regarding the comparison with Google Maps and Country Clubs.
At first I was a little skeptical about the comparison but after reading the article, it makes total sense.
There were several points but the beginning really caught my attention…Google maps works well because it knows where you are and where you want to go, how interesting.
Any successful operation needs to have a solid grasp on those 2 things in particular. How can you really focus on where you want to go until you take inventory on where you currently are.
One of the reasons I love this time of year, aside from the cool fall evenings, is it’s our time to assess where we are, what are our current strengths and what are the things we know we need to improve upon. It’s a never ending cycle, but one that for me never gets old.
Erich HerklozDean Kramer
The other thing I love about this time is it’s our time to dream. We look at the upcoming year with a sense of anticipation, similar to a kid on Christmas, looking at the exciting changes we plan on making. Sometimes it’s looking at how to make the events better, other times it’s what needs to change in our operational training programs. No matter what it is, we are always pushing the envelope to improve.
So understanding that, it makes it easier to understand how Google Maps and Country Clubs are not that dissimilar.

We kicked off the season with our Fall Gala and it felt more like the Spring Fling with the mild weather. It was an awesome night seeing everyone dressed to the nines. From the paparazzi photographers, the champagne greeters, hand rolled cigars, and the incredible performance by the Broadway stars of the Jersey Boys, the event was a huge success. I want to thank all of you who supported this event and especially to the LC staff who worked tirelessly from start to finish.
Although we haven’t added new families since the summer, we have welcomed some new additions to our current membership. Ross and Candace Charbonne welcomed a baby boy, Jeremiah Eli Charbonne on October 8th and Stephen and Chrissy DiPascale welcomed their first grandchild, Cooper Alexander Evans on November 2nd. We also want to congratulate Matt O’Brien who recently married Andrea (nee Paterno) on October 15th. Best wishes to the new parents, grandparents and newlyweds!
It’s been an incredible year and I wish all of you a happy and healthy holiday season!

LCWGA
On September 28, thanks to the seamless coordination of Marybeth Taras and Eileen Kennedy, MEMORIES WERE MADE at the LCWGA Member/Guest event. We will remember the beautiful day on our perfect golf course. We will remember the laughter at the impossible (and often embarrassing) shots. We will remember the lovely lunch and lively presentation ceremony. But most of all, we will remember all of our women golfers – new and returning, who have filled our season with challenge and companionship. Eileen Ramasamy and Gina Kassak, with the assistance of their guests, won the gross title with Lynne Demmerly and Stephanie Moccia and guests in first place for the net title. Eileen Kennedy came closest to the pin on Hole 3 and Christine Blessing executed the longest drive on Hole 5. Lynne Sergi, our most level-headed golfer, hit the straightest drive on Hole 16. But the biggest winners were all of our enthusiastic ladies who made the event truly a day to remember! Thank you to Marybeth and Eileen and to the professionals and staff of our club for all of their hard work in creating this memorable day!
A rousing hand to the winners of the Secretary’s Cup, Susan Kaufman and Lynne Demmerly, in their hard-fought victory over their daunting challengers, Chrisssy Duman and Stephanie Moccia. The competition was a nail biter until the bitter end and highlighted the awesome talent of our LCWGA golfers! And, in late breaking news, Lynne Demmerly, in a feat accomplished by few, won the President’s Cup, completing the LCWGA trifecta in great style! Congratulations!
Finally, as all good things must come to an end, Closing Day marked the conclusion of our 2022 season. Congratulations to our match winners, Eileen Ramasamy, Jennifer Halfpenny, Rita Gordon and Heidi Bourke. Heidi and Eileen also won longest drive honors and Jennifer won closest to the pin. Although the weather was cold and windy, Anita Albright coordinated a heart-warming day including Laurel Cup awards for greatest points earned in the 2022 season to Sue Studley and Eileen Ramasamy.
Thank you to all for your participation in and continuing support of our LCWGA. It was a banner year for our club and our women golfers were the driving force behind that success! See you in 2023!

ON THE COURSE
John Slade
DIRECTOR OF GOLF COURSE OPERATIONS
While golf course architect, Andrew Green, is all about growing grass, the in demand man has no time to waste. Arriving pre-dawn on Friday morning, a lack of light didn’t slow Andrew down, as he went to work checking grades on the new putting green.
With sunrise, it was time for him to move some dirt, making a few minor adjustments, prior to the drainage being installed.
Finally, with a bit more daylight, Andrew discussed the details with the construction team. The new green is twice the size of its predecessor, and will tie-in nicely with the tees on #1.
