I

love this time of year. Cooler nights and milder days. Being able to wear a light jacket to keep the chill off. Looking forward to all of the great things going on this Fall, such as dining on the patio, Halloween, Football (go Eagles!) It’s just great! I also love this time of year because it’s a time of renewal. We are already working on our plans for 2020. We’ve made it through the demanding summer season and now it’s time to dream, and dream big about next

year. The team is working hard on ways to improve not only how we do things, but also your experience. We are looking at new events, improving old events and fine tuning our operations to ensure we are doing all we can to make your time with us special. Analyzing the current facility and understanding what needs to be improved or replaced. What exciting new things can we add to the facility that will make your time here that much better. The only limit is our imagination.

here did the summer go? I can’t believe Summer has come to an end. I hope you created some wonderful memories with family and friends. I would have to say, we were blessed with some fantastic weather, a spectacular pool season, and some wonderful events. Our annual end of year Labor Day Carnival and BBQ was well attended and we appreciated all those who came out to enjoy the final day at the pool. After a great summer season, we are looking forward to a fun and fabulous fall. I’m very excited for our upcoming events in September and October. In addition to our Family Halloween Party, this year we are hosting a Black Carpet RIP

Gala for the adults on Saturday, October 26th. We are thrilled to have two of our members, Joe Kiernan and Thom Schachtele chairing this event. They have some great ideas and have been hands on with the planning. Mark your calendars and watch out for the invitation coming to your mailbox soon. Membership continues to grow and that wouldn’t be possible without your support. In 2019, we have added 137 new members to the LCCC family. More than half of the new families were referred by our current members. The referral of your friends and colleagues is the greatest compliment you can give us so from all of us on the LCCC team, thank you.

Survey Says! HERE’S WHAT OUR MEMBERS HAD TO SAY ABOUT OUR WHITE PARTY! “I don’t eat grains or much starch so my rating on the food reflected my desire for less items with grain, bread, potatoes, etc. That said, the food and drink was good. The Ceviche was excellent.”

“No suggestion, it was perfect!!! Loved the theme and that everyone got into it! Looked so beautiful.”

“What a fabulous party! The ambiance was fantastic; it truly set the tone! The music was wonderfuland enticed you to dance! The drinks were potent in the best possible way! Let’s do another White Party next year!”

“I think it should be held on the Friday after Labor Day when everyone is back in town.”

“Not enough tables, nice event easy to build on for next year. 7pm start date, adults need pool time too close it at 6pm for this event.”

“Great time, perfect size crowd any bigger it might have been too cramped. What a night, let’s do it again!!”

ow fast the summer goes by as we now transition into the beautiful upcoming fall months. This is certainly, in my opinion, the best time to play golf. Crisp mornings and perfect golf course conditions as the annual August aerification will be a thing of the past here so enjoy the warmer weather and longer days to play Golf.

Rounding out the schedule for the rest of the month is the Senior Club Championship which will be Saturday & Sunday September 21st and 22nd. The defending champ in the gross division is Matt Flannery.

As we look back a month ago, The Men’s Club Championship took center stage, as this major event was contested over 2 weekends. We had a stroke play qualifier on Saturday July 14th which moved into match play the following day. We had four flights with all players playing different tee boxes based on handicap index. Akhil Giri was back to defend his title in the Championship flight but it was the young MHS High School Player Hayden Greer that stole the show. He defeated Akhil in a tight semi-final match to face former 2016 champion Joe Russo in the 36-hole final. Hayden built a 1 up lead after 18 holes and then increased his lead to 4 with 9 holes to go. The experienced and veteran Joe Russo was not going away that easy as he chipped away at the lead and was only 1 down with 4 holes to go. Hayden steadied himself and made some clutch putts to hold a 1 up lead with 2 holes to go. An errant tee shot by Joe on #17 sealed the win for Hayden as a bogie was good enough to capture the title.

If you have been here, you may have noticed our new Cart fleet from E-Z-G-O has arrived they have the following features to enjoy.

Our Summer Golf & Tennis camp went great as the future golfers learned all aspects of the game while making new friends and having fun! The Men’s’ Member-Member event September 13th – 14th will be the focus this fall as 108 players will compete for the title in this 2-day event.

Come over and enjoy the new ride! As you pull into the club please drop your bag at the gazebo, park to the right and our golf shop attendant will have your bag down outside the Pro Shop. Please check in at the golf shop and if you are bringing guests. please have them sign our Guest book before heading over the bridge to the course. Please remember when the Gazebo (bag drop) is closed for the evening the Golf bags will be placed in the conference room upstairs on the left when entering the club house. When practicing on the range please follow the hitting rules that are displayed on the sign. This time of year, the grass has a tougher time recovering so following the hitting pattern will help the recovery process.

ongratulations to Stephanie Moccia and Chrissy Duman on winning the 2019 Secretary’s Cup! Their very formidable opponents, Eileen Ramasamy and Christine Blessing, held on to the 18th hole but ultimately the exceptional play by Stephanie Moccia (and support by Chrissy) could not be overcome. Their match was also played in record time of 4 hours and 10 minutes, there should be points awarded for that feat as well! The nine holers hosted their “HOME ON THE RANGE” Invitational on August 7th. Susan Studley took the “reins” and chaired this successful event! Not only did the ladies enjoy a beautiful day of golf and a splendid luncheon where sunflowers and bandanas were abundant, but they also managed to raise a little money for a worthwhile charity. Proceeds from the sale of Mulligans and donated personal care items were given to this organization which cares for women and families who need assistance from abusive homes. Well done Ladies on aiding this worthy organization! Laurel Creeker, Lisa Sindorf was on the winning team for this event, congrats Lisa! Our highlight event of the season will soon be here. Marybeth Taras and Eileen Kennedy are chairing our Member/Guest tournament scheduled for September 25th and I know with these two ladies at the helm it will be an awesome event. Please reach out to Eileen Kennedy if you have any questions. You can sign up for this event on the LC app. Lastly, congratulations to Erin Lo who defended her Women’s Club Championship title!

t’s Pumpkin Spice season and that means fall is near. I love this time of year and especially the events coming up this autumn season. We bring back S’mores under the Stars every Wednesday starting in September from 6 to 8 PM and I find that parents love eating s’mores as much as their kids. The event that really reminds of fall is the Family Halloween Party. It’s less than two months away but I can hear the buzz about it as I walk club. If you are new to the club, you and your family are in for a great time. The entire clubhouse is transformed into a Halloween extravaganza with music, haunted house, hayrides, bounce house, outdoor movie and so much more. It’s one of the biggest family events we have on the calendar so start planning your costumes now. Moms and Dads can dress up too so join in on the fun by coming in costume with your kids. The kids are back at school and your life is going to become more hectic with sports, school meetings and just life being busy. We understand that lunch and dinner can be an absolute last minute decision, and we want to accommodate the entire membership but not all at once. Please allow us to help you by giving us a call or use the app and make a reservation to ensure you have table when you arrive. Giving us a heads up that you are coming over to dine helps us tremendously and is greatly appreciated. Let’s have a great FALL!

e always have our fingers crossed, hoping for good weather for fairway aerification. The “Goldilocks” zone for us is good soil moisture, but not saturated conditions. If too dry, the turf will be stressed and quickly wilt; and if too wet, the plugs can’t be processed, and cleanup is a mess. For some reason, it just didn’t come as a great shock that the weather was not amenable to our wishes, and the golf course became the bulls-eye for pop-up storm activity throughout the week, with several days of rain.

Sunday afternoon we had two localized storms hit us, putting down an inch of rain. Due to how wet many of the holes would be, this limited the fairways we could aerify on Monday. As the day progressed, we actually found ourselves making good progress by Monday afternoon, but in the midst of aerifying #1 we had another blast of rain, with a tsunami-like storm. This was the first time we had a fairway completely open with plugs covering it when rain hit--what a mess!

Tuesday came and we aerified a handful of small fairways, but due to the excessive moisture from the prior two days’ rain, we could not grind the aerification plugs, instead having to remove them whole. This is not ideal for several reasons. Wednesday was finally a good weather day, and we took advantage of that. However, we had to once again stop earlier than we’d like in the afternoon, as another round of rain was on the way--and we didn’t want to risk a repeat of #1 fairway. 1.20” of rain came down Wednesday evening, and we were forced to raise the white flag for the week. To summarize, we had precipitation on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The rainfall totaled 3.20” for the week. When you take a step back and look at things from this perspective, we accomplished quite a bit. We have four holes yet to be aerified, and they will be tackled as time (and weather) permits.
