Good Rockin’ Tonight

Friday, May 6th • 6-7:30pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION As a Hall of Fame band, Good Rockin’ Tonight works hard to recreate the sights and sounds of what the music scene was like in 1959. Complete with authentic gear, slick suits, classic swagger, and a stunning setlist you’ll be transported back to a time of sock hops, classy cars, poodle skirts and American Bandstand. The band has been dishing out copious amounts of heavy hitters of the 1950s like - Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Eddie Cochrane, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and of course Jerry Lee Lewis. Regarded as the Best 1950s Tribute in Tennessee, the guys bring a top notch show wherever they perform!

Star Wars Spelling Bee

Twilight Zone Marathon

You may know Kenobi starts with a K or Wookiee has two E’s at the end, but how are you when it comes to spelling the hard Star Wars words? Compete against teams of up to 3 people to find out if the Force is with you. The winning team will receive a prize and serious bragging rights. You must pre-register your team to participate by contacting Susan or Donna at the library. Guests who come to watch the event don’t need to register.

Step into another dimension during our celebration of the TV series, where everything was strange and nothing was quite as it seemed. Bring some friends and watch a marathon of essential episodes of the original Twilight Zone.

Outdoor Movie: The Princess Bride Friday, May 20th • Begins at dusk Location: Front Parking Lot NO REGISTRATION

Bring your camp chairs and join us for an inconceivably fun evening. A fairy tale adventure about a beautiful young woman and her one true love. He must find her after a long separation and save her. They must battle the evils of the mythical kingdom of Florin to be reunited with each other. Based on the William Goldman novel The Princess Bride, which earned its own loyal audience. This movie is rated PG.

Bookmarked Book Club

Coin Appraisal by Numismatist Bob Jones

This month’s selection is The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler.

Bob “Doc” Jones, Winchester’s premier rare coin collector, will be appraising coins and currency. Appraisals done on a first-come, first-served basis and will be limited to a 15-minute duration. Sign in near the study rooms upon arrival. This is strictly an informational program, no sales or trading.

Warm weather is on the way. We want everyone to be safe when visiting lakes, oceans, and pools. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff will teach water safety through a variety of fun activities. Participants’ caregiver must be present. For ages 16 and up.

Matinee Movie: Little Women Wednesday, May 18th • 1-3pm Location: Auditorium NO REGISTRATION

Based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel about four sisters growing up after the Civil War. The four young women each determined to live life on her own terms, is both timeless and timely. This movie is rated PG.

Pickleball Explained

Join us to learn the basics about the fastest growing sport in America. The game combines elements of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton. Be ready to try something new this Spring.

True Crime: Delphi Murders Tuesday, May 31st • 6-7pm Location: Auditorium REGISTRATION REQUIRED

In February 2017, the bodies of Abigail Williams and Liberty German were discovered near the Monon High Bridge Trail, which is part of the Delphi Historic Trails in Delphi in Indiana after the young girls had disappeared from the same trail the previous day. The murders received significant media coverage after a video and audio recording of an individual believed to be the girls’ killer were found on German’s smartphone. Despite thousands of tips and the circulation of the recordings of the suspect, no arrest in the case has been made.

Hip-Hop Shakespeare

Thursday, May 5th • 6-7pm Location: Auditorium REGISTRATION REQUIRED “All the world’s a stage…” Kentucky Shakespeare’s Hip-Hop workshop helps students to breathe life into Shakespeare’s sonnets by connecting them to popular hip-hop music and style. Enjoy some of the greatest musicians of our time pairing up with one of the greatest writers of all time. This program emphasizes the literary skills for writing their own poetry, the relevancy of connecting language and music, and imagination!

Tiffany D. Jackson writes hard-hitting stories that don’t shy away from heavier topics. She writes dark YA thrillers that definitely do not disappoint. Jackson’s stories feature great writing, well-developed characters, and important topics of conversation. Her books are full of twists and shocking reveals that will keep the reader intrigued until the last page.

Kentucky Shakespeare: Stage Combat Thursday, May 5th • 1-2pm Location: Auditorium REGISTRATION REQUIRED

“Give thanks for what you are today and go on fighting for what you gone be tomorrow...” During this workshop Kentucky Shakespeare will teach participants how to safely perform a staged fight using hand-to-hand combat and sword play. Take a look behind the scenes and learn how the pros make their sword fights seem so realistic.

Did you know you can use balloons instead of paintbrushes to paint an amazing work of art? Give this fun, creative way of making art a try, and you’ll have a masterpiece to take home.

Kentucky Shakespeare: Fairy Tales from Around the World Thursday, May 5th • 11am-12pm Location: Auditorium REGISTRATION REQUIRED

This workshop will allow participants to explore the history, culture, geography, and oral traditions surrounding fairy tales as they perform them with other participants. This program is an excellent introduction to dramatic storytelling and is geared for K-3rd graders.

Cinco De Mayo Celebration!

Pass the Slipper! Cinderella Around the World

We’re so ready for a fiesta! We’ll listen to some great Mariachi music as we make our own Mariachi maracas and fiesta clappers! Let’s make some fiesta noise!

Did you know that most cultures have their own unique version of the Cinderella story? During this princess program, we’ll listen to a Cinderella story, make Cinderella crafts, and enjoy sweet treats fit for a princess! There will be Cinderella books from around the world available for checkout.

Let’s have fun in the sun and enjoy our wonderful lakes, beaches, and swimming pools this summer! The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers will be here to give us information on water safety, and a fun activity to enjoy!

Andy Armadillo, from Texas Roadhouse, will be here to read a special story about armadillos! We’ll make a cute armadillo themed craft and have some tasty treats!
