ON APRIL 8, her last day of playing Kalinda Sharma on CBS’ The Good Wife, Archie Panjabi felt she had to appear strong and calm. So she hoisted herself onto a table—in her character’s signature spikeheeled boots, no less—to make one final speech to the cast and crew. “I didn’t want to burst out in tears. That would totally ruin my reputation for playing such a cool character,” recalls Panjabi, 42, who’s portrayed the legal show’s enigmatic investigator with a penchant for wearing those black knee-high boots since day one. “Part of me was thinking, ‘Kalinda would do the same thing. She would just get up, make that speech, and then walk out the door.’ So I did.” Fans will be relieved to learn that Kalinda’s onscreen exit in the May 10 season finale should look similar to her real-life departure.
