Is there a beginning? Is there an input that gave birth to the idea of writing this story? There is. Once I read in a footnote on a critical essay that Samuel Beckett’s favorite line was a famous quote by St. Augustine: "Do not despair: one of the two thieves was saved. Do not fool yourself: one of the two thieves was damned". At that time, I was also reading Osvaldo Soriano’s stories about Fùtbol, so I decided to write one myself, whose protagonists were two thieves: a corrupt referee sent to Sardinia and a petty thief occasionally stealing lambs.


In the short movie the stories of the two thieves were just evoked, whereas in the long one I've developed them along with the other characters, creating a sort of prequel.

In photography, can the freedom to express oneself, go through the

This is a very general question; a s t h e r e a r e o c c as i o n s w h e n t h e p h o t o g r ap h e r d o e s i n f a c t t r a ns f o r m t h e s u b j e c t t o s uc h e x t r e m e s t h a t d i st o r t s t h e e s s e n s e o f t ha t p a r t . N e v e r t h e l e ss , the issue of exploitation in photography is complex, controversial and u n r e s o l o v e d . I n my opinion, daily newspapers and t e l e v i s i o n a r e t he greatest and most frequent culprits of human privacy.

By looking at your art, we are especially intrigued by the question of how crucial are the details in attempting to know the subject's

ps yc he ? Over the past decade, my subjects have been more animals than humans. My upcoming book Asylum of the Birds to be published by Thames and Hudson in 2014 focuses on Birds in a strange Roger Ballen world. The correct and appropriate detail in an image is crucial to its message and ablilty to transform the viewers's consciousness. 57

Questa è una domanda comune, così come comuni sono le occasioni nelle quali il fotografo trasforma il soggetto a tal punto che ne distorce l'essenza stessa. Comunque la questione dello sfruttamento della persona in fotografia è alquanto complessa, controversa e tuttora irrisolta. Per quanto mi riguarda la televisione e i giornali sono quelli che maggiormente e più di frequente, si macchiano di questa colpa. 62

LE RICETTE D'ARTE DI SABRINA QUERCI Da questo numero ho l'onore ed il piacere di avere una mia rubrica su Lazagne Magazine, dove poter liberamente parlare delle mie svariate attività e delle mie passioni. Visto che non sono una giornalista e non ho la presunzione di esserlo, scriverò di getto, col cuore, parlando dei progetti che mi piacciono e mi colpiscono, per condividerli con voi. Piccole interviste ad artisti e personaggi, che gravitano nel mondo dell'arte intesa ad ampio raggio.E poiché un altro dei miei grandi amori è la cucina, sarà proprio il cibo a fare da cappello a queste interviste, perché in fondo l'obbiettivo di queste arti è lo stesso:

evocare piacere.

From this issue I have the honour and pleasure to have my own column on Lazagne Magazine, where I can freely talk about my variety of activities and my passions. Since I'm not a journalist and I don’t have the presumption to be one, I am going to write on-the-spot, from my heart, talking about the projects I like and that strike me and share them with you. Short interviews to artists and personalities who gravitate in the world of the art, in the broadest sense. And because cooking is one of my great loves, food will be the introduction for these interviews, because the goal of both these arts is basically the same:

to evoke pleasure.

Le qualità primarie dell’immagine, le sue forme geometriche, i suoi equilibri cromatici, gli spazi negativi, che tanto ossessionano un creatore razionale, devono in qualche modo fornire le basi per un miraggio. Mi piace immaginare che ognuno vedrà in quel miraggio un’emozione diversa.
