May 2 – DIY Beaded Bubble Wands: Participants will use pipe cleaners, beads, and wooden sticks to fashion their own bubble wands. They will also learn how to mix their own bubble solution.
May 9 & 16 – Explore with Coding: Explore more coding with Sphero the Robot! This program will either be an introduction or a continuation of the first session depending on the participants.
May 23 – DIY Birdfeeder: Make a feeder for your backyard birds!
May 30 – French Club: The theme for May is ‘au jardin’ (in the garden). Participants will do activities in French to grow their vocabulary and expressions related to the theme.
June 6 – Paint Ghost Buildings: Paint buildings from Inwood’s history that no longer exist! In honour of Inwood’s 150th anniversary.
June 13 – Create with Poetry: Participants will be guided through the process of selecting related words from a passage of prose to create a poem. The rest of the words with be blacked out!
June 20 – Create with Poetry: Using word definitions, we will illustrate a drawn version of the word itself, like an illustrative font. Then each person will add a short passage of pre-selected poetry that illustrates the meaning of the passage.

Use math skills related to angles, measurement and time. Complete a series of programming challenges for a Sphero Bolt. Experiment with how to make pleasing strings of words. Participants will have the opportunity to create poems using the Haikubes, StoryCubes and by drawing words from a bag at random.
BIKE DECORATING FOR INWOOD’S 150TH ANNIVERSARY

Bring your bike to the library to decorate for Inwood’s 150th anniversary parade. Create streamers for your handlebars and decorate wheel spokes with painted straws, pipe cleaners or ribbons.

May – Garden Gnomes: We will use painted and decorated popsicle sticks and stacked and decorated rocks to create little garden gnome beasties.
June – Magnetic Poetry Kit: Participants will explore poetry by creating their own unique magnetic poetry object made from recycled tin and their own custom magnetic words from teen magazines.

Work together with library staff to use Ancestry Library Edition to research your family history. This group will meet regularly on the fourth Thursday of every month. Participants are encouraged to bring their own devices or use the library’s public computers.

Recommended for adults, but all ages are welcome.
May – Comic Books: Bring whatever drawings or illustrations you have been working on and your ideas to create or develop your own comic book! This month we will create a 4-8 page book of illustrations with or without a written story!
June – Ancestors: Participants will draw images of ancestors in honour of Inwood’s 150th anniversary and Archives Month. This could be any elder relations living or passed.
WRITING CLUB
Tuesday, May 23 & June 27 – 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Participants should come with two pages of writing in any style or genre and be prepared to read their work out loud to the group. There will also be short writing exploration exercises and more sharing with positive and constructive feedback.
