Key Club 101

What is Key Club (you may ask!)?  Key Club is an international student-led organization which gives its members opportunities to provide service for those in need, build character within themselves, and develop leader skills that can be used in the future! Who are WE?  We are the Superheroes of Division 48! We are caring and compassionate individuals that are improving our community! The core values are leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness. Why Key Club?  No other organizations provide us with the opportunities that Key Club does. In Key Club, we better the lives of others around us, make friends, and grow as individuals. Key Club isn’t just a club; it is a family. You gain so many great memories; from service projects to DCON itself! Key Club is the best place to be. We love and support those around us!

EliMiNaTe Project

What is the Eliminate Project?  The ELIMINATE Project is a joint project with Kiwanis and UNICEF to internationally eliminate MNT. What is MNT?  MNT stands for maternal and neonatal tetanus that occurs with mothers and their newborn children. Newborns suffer severe convulsions and are sensitive to light and touch. MNT kills one baby every 11 minutes. It also kills mothers; this leads to little hope of survival. Who suffers from MNT and how can it be stopped?  MNT affects the poorest, the geographically hard to reach, and those who can’t afford health care. It is caused when spores, found in soil everywhere, come into contact with open cuts during childbirth. Just three doses of a 60 cent immunization can protect a mother and her future babies.

$1.80 can save a mother and her future children!

Officer Roles

Congratulations to all officers who were elected for the 2015-2016 year! If you do not know your duties then I have just the thing for you! President: ďƒ˜ It is your duty to plan, organize, and carry out your responsibilities to help both your club and your members succeed! You will also work closely with me to insure that you get the help you need to insure a great year! Members look up to you, and by supporting and instructing them, they will make memories to pass on to their friends! Vice President: ďƒ˜ You must assist your President in overseeing the planning and organization of the meetings. Whenever your president is not present, it is your job to take on their duties until they return.

Secretary:

 You must be neat and organized throughout your term. At all meetings you must record what is discussed and what your club accomplishes; from service projects to announcements. Also you must complete Secretary reports that are due the 5th of every month! Treasurer:

 It is your job to collect dues at the beginning of the year and to control and disperse the money when advised throughout the year. This year’s Early Bird Date, to send in dues, will be November 1st! If you have any questions on dues, you can contact the District Treasurer, Suvir Copparam, or myself. Bulletin Editor:

 This is a very creative position! It can involve taking pictures of all that your club does over the year, creating your own newsletter for your club (if you wish), and making sure that the club (and public) is informed about what is happening in Key Club! I’d love for any pictures to be sent to me via email so that I can feature you all in this newsletter for the coming months, especially in the summer if you have any service projects!

Officer Information!

The school year is coming to an end, and we all know what that means! Summer Break and New Officers!! BUT our work isn’t done just yet! I will be collecting officer information to add to a spreadsheet that will be sent directly to our PNW Secretary Tran Hoang. There she will compile all officer contact information so that everyone can get into contact with anyone! With Division 48 officers, I will be needing your:  First and Last Name  Email Address  Home Address (this is optional!)  Phone number  The officer position you hold

I need this as soon as possible! Preferably before May 31 st! Thank you!

Fort Sherman Park Turnout

I want to thank both CHS and LCHS students for all they have done for Sunday, April 26th at Fort Sherman Park! I also want to thank CHS for having some LCHS students attend the BBQ right after the 26th. I really appreciate all the hard work this year, and I really enjoyed getting to know you guys on a personal level. I want to make this coming year the best that it can be! You are all such amazing Key Clubbers!

You guys were
