Winter

We asked our favourit questions coming int

Julia Teen Beauty Editor

Naomi Davis Founder – Treats A La Bark

What do you love most about winter? Faux fur wraps, big cosy knits and comfort food!

What do you love most about winter? Nothing beats snuggling under the blankets with my pug, Rufio.

What are your top 3 winter fashion trends? Neutral trenches, snug leather pants and a fun fuchsia lip (just to remind you that spring is never too far away!)

What are your top 3 winter fashion trends? Layering. I absolutey love layering with knits, jackets, scarves and wraps. I like wearing colours during these colder months. It helps make me feel just a little bit warmer!

Where can you be found this winter? The Hunter Valley! Wine tasting in front of the fire...

Where can you be found this winter? I will most likely be found down at the local dog park with Rufio meeting and snapping photos of other dogs and their owners. I’ll also be attending the RSPCA Million Paws Walk on the 20th of May and then jetting off to Europe to skip the rest of winter!

te people to answer 3 to the cooler months

Lydia-Jane Saunders Stylist

Brooke Sivendra Director – The Style Net

What do you love most about winter? After living in London for so many years I have an amazing collection of coats which you can only really wear in the middle of winter here. I think Winter fashion is so much more interesting, the layers, the textures. I am possibly the only Sydney-sider that prefers winter to summer.

What do you love most about winter? I love the winter fashion. The beautiful warm coats, cashmere sweaters and toasty warm scarves and gloves.

What are your top 3 winter fashion trends? Colour! I say the more colour the better. Long sleeved dresses. Dresses are my thing, I own far too many. Boots – whether they are knee high or ankle length, boots in winter are a necessity.

Where can you be found this winter? Sitting by my fireplace with a cup of tea and a good movie.

What are your top 3 winter fashion trends? Ankle boots, colour popping statement jewellery and leather leggings.

Where can you be found this winter? I will be in Sydney, drinking red wine and negronis, eating homecooked food with fabulous friends and snuggling up to my man. LE MAGAZINE ISSUE 7

SHEER SHIRT

Gorgeous, floaty veils of chiffon draped around your shoulders are one way to bring out your most feminine and fragile side. Sheer tops are this season’s must have! Sheer tops are very comfortable and easy to style - just wear over a bra, singlet or under a blazer and you’ve got the celebrity look. Sheer tops are suitable for day-wear or can be glammed up for evening-wear.

ANKLE CUFFS

Shackles have never been more fashionable! We have discovered a great way to add a touch of glam to your ankle and spruce up a pair of simple shoes. Gold ankle cuffs are the most recent trend to hit the fashion scene and they are soon to take the world by storm. These edgy ankle accessories go great with simple heels and anything that shows off the ankle, they even look great over a pair of bright stockings. Check out the Gold Ankle Cuffs at Le Black Book before they are all gone! LE MAGAZINE ISSUE 7

SHAGGY KNIT

It’s all about texture and bulk this season. Shaggy knit sweaters and cardigans in muted tones have taken over the fashion scene locally and internationally. Guaranteed to protect you from those chilly months, this style so cosy and stylish. Try pairing with some black tights or a maxi skirt to achieve an effortless, practical and chic look.

FAUX FUR

Looking for affordable, animal friendly, luxurious fashion? Faux Fur is the perfect answer this winter, making its seasonal comeback. Incredibly warm, soft, and textured Faux Fur keeps you looking fashionable while allowing you to enjoy a clear conscience. We look to Kate Moss’ never failing taste and trend-setting when styling our fur. When selecting you faux fur stick to neutral colours like white, honey, brown and black, and layer over simple, bold clothing, and keep accessories to a subtle minimum. LE MAGAZINE ISSUE 7

SPLIT MAXI SKIRT

Split maxi skirts are hitting the fashion scene worldwide. And just as well because they are a great winter way to show a little skin but still be comfortable and stylish. The Olsen twins had it right when they donned their sheer split maxi skirts, with just the right amount of feminine power and rocker chic. There is so much choice when it comes to maxi skirts, they look great in any style, colour, print and fabric. To optimise your look, team your maxi with a simple bold tee (tucked in) and layer with a bulky textured cardigan or bolero for cold weather.

NEON

This season we are having a flashback to 80’s fashion with NEON. Think Olivia Newton-John, aerobics and roller discos; tight and bright is making a LOUD comeback. Adding a dash of neon to your outfit instantly brightens up your look and adds colour that screams for attention. Wearing Neon is a sure-fire way to get noticed.

The sky is the limit! Take a look at the range of stockings at Le Black Book.

KNITS

Everyone loves a knit in winter! Look great while keeping ultra snug and comfortable with the range of knits available at Le Black Book this season. Go lightweight with our light knit tops or the bulkier the better with our shaggy knit sweaters and cardigans. Knits come in all shape, sizes and colours, and you can’t go wrong with them when putting together a winter outfit. LE MAGAZINE ISSUE 7

GOLD CUFF

Whether you like it simple or your motto is “more is less, gold cuffs are the latest and greatest sleek, bold way to add a little shine and interest to any outfit. For this seasons arm candy we draw inspiration from the Olsen Twins, Cleopatra and even Wonder Woman had it right. And the great news is - gold will go with anything!

NECK CUFF

Simplicity is the key this year for an ultra modern look that hints at opulence. The choker is back but oh so much better! Neck cuffs are by far the must have accessory this year and the best investment you will make. They look great with just about any outfit and are suitable for all occasions. Bloggers and celebrities alike are taking on this trend and so should you! To make the most of your neck cuff, teaming it with solid blocks of colour in your outfit; keep it simple. Bea Colour Eyes There are certain makeup absolutes you can always expect on the runways each season. Red lips; a black-as-black, to the brow-bone smoky eye; and the ‘no makeup’ look... they’re all backstage regulars. A pop of colour is also as much of a sure thing on the face as it is for the clothes, but the fall ’12 shows demonstrated that we don’t have to rely on a coral or hot pink lip to be the stand out point this season – the eyes have much more of a fresh effect. A rose or a dusty pink blush can be applied to the eyelid and suits hazel eyes, whereas blue eyes go great with purple or vivid blue tones. Brown eyes can work with any colour, so there’s no excuse not to go troppo!

Dark Lips Call it the Rooney Mara effect – dark lips were all over the runway this season. A little bit of vamp glam – however keep from looking washed out by applying a light dusting of pink blush. Avoid gothic territory and stay away from eyeliner and shadow. Bea Side & Sleek Hair There’s a time and a place for volume, but there’s definitely also a lot to be said for the sleek and straight look. A bareback cocktail dress calls for a luxuriously sleekified ponytail and over twenty A/W ’12 shows followed suit. Prep hair with a lightweight straightening balm, and use a wide toothed comb to create a deep side part and use a strong hold hairspray to reach the smoothest effect.

Nails are having a big moment. Ever since Karl Lagerfeld sent models down the Fall ’09 runway with Chanel’s ‘Jade’ on their fingertips, and OPI released ‘Black Shatter’, nails have become the ultimate accessory. This season, the look has been taken to the next level. It’s all about texture. Think feathers, sequins, thick glitter – anything that will give your nails the ‘3D’ look. Get the low-fi, luxe look with dewy, fresh skin and minimum makeup - let your nails be the stand out talking point. LE MAGAZINE ISSUE 7

Bea Dark Spot Correctors

Turns out that the number one skin fear most women suffer is not premature aging, instead; pigmentation. Years of the Australian beach culture has left many of us with sun spots, uneven skin tone and pigmentation. Still battling teenage acne scars, or struck down with adult acne? Forget about trying to lighten the scaring

SKINC

with moisturiser or bio-oil – your efforts are futile. Pigmentation occurs when skin darkening pigment melanin is brought to the skin’s surface. Anti-pigmentation products work to break down the cluster of melanin underneath the skin, evening up your skin tone and protecting against future age spots.

CARE

Facial Oils

Time to up the ante on your 3-step night dance. 2011 might have been all about cleanse, tone and moisturise, but in 2012, it’s all about that extra step to glowing, flawless skin; oils. Argan oil has been a wonder product for dry and split hair for some time, but the benefits to skincare are

now coming to light. Rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants, Argan oil skin serums work to smooth out wrinkles, moisturise and protect, whilst revitalizing for a radiant glow. Oily skin types take note; try a variation specifically geared towards controlling excess sebum. LE MAGAZINE ISSUE 7
