16 oz bright white candy melts or equal amounts of white chocolate 6 oz royal blue candy melts 6 oz red candy melts Red, white and blue m & m's pieces Handful of Oreo cookies crushed Red white and blue star sprinkles Red white and blue jimmies Directions:

Place Oreo cookies into a plastic bag and gently hit with a rolling pin to break cookies. Set aside.

www.insidebrucrewlife.com Mini Banana Splits

Line a 9x13" pan with aluminum foil & spray with cooking spray. Set aside. Place a small saucepan with about 1 inch of water on the stove and heat on LOW until barely simmering. Pour bright white candy melts in a large glass bowl (that fits inside the saucepan so that the bottom of the bowl does NOT touch the water). Place bowl over the top of the saucepan, creating a double boiler. Use a rubber spatula to stir candy melts until melted and smooth. Pour red candy melts in a small bowl, and pour blue candy melts in another microwaveable bowl. Microwave the blue candy melts 30-45 second intervals, until most of the way melted. Remove from microwave and stir to let the heat melt the remaining bits. Repeat process with the red candy melts. Pour melted white candy melts into pan and use spatula to smooth Alternate drizzling melted red & blue candy melts in vertical lines over the surface of the white candy melts. Using a butter knife, swirl in a figure eight pattern to swirl the red and blue into the white. Repeat. Sprinkle swirled candy melts with Oreo pieces, m&m's, star sprinkles and jimmies. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours, or until hardened. Lift edges of aluminum foil to remove bark from pan, and separate the bark from the foil.

Laundry detergent pod ingestion: Protect your child Submitted by Lee Health Household cleaning products rank in the top five most common toxic exposures to children ages 5 and younger. Ingestion is the leading method of exposure, with more than 11,000 calls made to poison control centers last year to report children who ingested laundry pods. The rates of poisonings from laundry and dishwasher detergent packets or “pods” are growing, as are serious injuries from exposures to them. According to a 2016 study conducted by the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, every 45 minutes a poison control center receives a call about a child who has ingested or otherwise been exposed to a laundry detergent packet. Laundry detergent pods are the biggest contributor to hospitalizations and serious medical effects among detergent poisonings. They typically are packaged in brightly colored, single-use packets. “Because of their smooth texture, size, colors and taste, young children often mistake the pods

for candy, which makes them irresistible,” says pediatric ear, nose and throat physician Stuart Morgenstein, D.O. “These pods contain concentrated detergent liquids or granules wrapped in a water-soluble membrane and release their contents when exposed to moisture.” Symptoms of laundry pod ingestion range from mild to severe, including vomiting and throat pain. Although death is rare with consumption of the detergent pods, a child can lapse into a coma or can progress to respiratory distress, both of which require intensive care treatment. “Avoidance is the most important element longterm,” Dr. Morgenstein advises. “The pods should be kept closed and sealed, stored up high, out of the reach of children. Child-resistant packaging is critical, along with detailed product safety information and increased public education. Also, make sure the telephone number of the poison control center is readily available.” The Poison Help Line number is 1-800-222-1222.

School entry requirements in Lee County

Public school students will return to the classrooms on Aug. 10 in Lee County. Below is what the district advises as the school entry requirements for all of its students: A physical exam dated within 12 months prior to registration is required of all students K-12 except those transferring from any Florida public or private school. This must be done and signed by a physician, PA, ARNP or chiropractor. Prior to entry, attendance or transfer to Florida schools (kindergarten through 12th grade), each child shall have on file a Florida Certification of Immunization (DH 680 form) Exemptions: There are two types of exemptions for the immunization requirement: MEDICAL and RELIGIOUS. Exemptions will be granted for the following reasons: The parent of the child states that the administration of immunizing agents conflicts with his or her religious tenets or practices. This exemption must be granted by the Department of Health. The parent must call the Lee County Health Department to make an appointment for obtaining the religious exemption. A licensed physician certifies in writing, on a form provided by

the Department of Health, that the child should be permanently exempt from the required immunization(s) for medical reasons. A licensed physician certifies in writing, on a form provided by the Department of Health, that the child is in the process of obtaining the required immunizations. The Department of Health determines that, according to recognized standards of medical practice, any required immunization is unnecessary or hazardous. In the event of a communicable disease emergency, school health and immunization records of non-immunized students will be made available to the Lee County Health Department director. Those students identified as not being immunized against the disease for which the emergency has been declared shall be temporarily excluded from school until such time as is specified by the Lee County Health Department director. The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock). There comes a moment in everyone’s life when we are called upon to make a difference. In Transformers: The Last Knight, the hunted will become heroes. Heroes will become villains. Only one world will survive: theirs, or ours.

Despicable Me 3 is an upcoming 3D computer-animated comedy film that is being produced by Illumination Entertainment and released by Universal Pictures. It will be the third installment in the Despicable Me film series, after Despicable Me 2 (2013). Directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, and codirected by Eric Guillon, the film is written by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. It stars the voices of Steve Carell in a dual role, Kristen Wiig and Trey Parker. Gru faces off against Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who has grown up to become obsessed with the character that he played in the '80s, and gets into some sibling rivalry when he meets his long-lost charming, cheerful, and more successful twin brother Dru who wants to team up with him for one last criminal heist to steal the diamond that Bratt has stolen.

A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
