TheLeeHealthBoardof Directorshasapproved updatedplanstobuildanew medicalcampusandhealthcaredestinationinthecityof FortMyersonChallenger Boulevard.Tentativelyknown as“LeeHealthFortMyers,” thepropertywillbelocated on52acresoflandbetween ColonialBoulevardand WinklerAvenue.Thenew campuswillbebuiltinphasesoverseveralyears.

TheBoardofDirectors waspresentedwitha RevisedPhase1Scopefor

LeeHealthFortMyerson Sept.14whichincludes gradualrelocationofkeyLee MemorialHospitalprograms, ambulatoryserviceofferings andnewcommunityaccess.

Thenewcampuswillprovideadestinationforquality medicalcareforresidents andvisitors,newjobs,andit alsoensuresfutureaccessto

healthcarebysupportingthe growingneedsoftheFort Myerscommunityand beyond.

Althoughapprovedforas manyas400acutecare beds,LeeHealthanticipates thatintheimmediatefuture thecampuswillincludean acutecarehospitalwith approximately120beds,a skillednursingfacility,specialtyservices,atotalof18 operatingroomsoncampus, anemergencydepartment, andobservationrooms.The state-of-the-arthealthcare campuswillhouseancillary andsocialservicesaswellas aMedicalOfficeBuilding.
