Bannockburn Surgery first opened its doors in 1983 – a humble beginning in small rooms located between the original Pharmacy and Supermarket.
The practice soon moved to 19 High Street in 1986 with two consulting rooms, a small treatment room and tiny tearoom for its team members. In 2000, the current building (16 High Street) was opened, – a purpose-built practice complete with five consulting rooms, a sixth room having been added in 2010.

Message from Federal Member for Corangamite, Libby Coker MP.
There’s no doubt we have hit the ground running in 2024 with significant projects being completed and many new and exciting opportunities for Inverleigh and communities across our region.
At the last federal election, Labor promised a new undercover basketball court for Inverleigh Primary School and I’m so proud that this project has now been completed through our School Upgrade Fund.
I dropped by the school to celebrate with students, teachers and the school community – I’d like to thank them for their warm welcome. It was a great day and I thank you for taking time out of your day to join me for a quick game of basketball!
Connecting with our local communities is a great privilege of my job, and delivering on significant community infrastructure projects is a key part of that which is why I wanted to give you an update on federal funding grants.
There are hundreds of grants available, and it takes many hours of research to navigate the dozens of websites that provide information about them. Each month, my office will publish a Grants Bulletin,
which will hopefully make this process easier for you by having a compilation of all the key grants in one list.
For more information on current and upcoming grants, please subscribe to my grants bulletin at https://www.libbycoker.com.au/news/ grants-bulletin/.
As your federal government representative, I’m always here to help, and I’d encourage you to contact my office if you need support with any programs, Centrelink, the NDIS, Australia Post, or any other federal government services.
Finding a space in Inverleigh where inner journeys and alternative healing practices can be explored is a bright new option at White Lotus. Understanding how crystals, Reiki, chakras and sound therapies can enhance our sense of wellbeing and aid us in recovering from many of life’s challenges are powerful pathways and these are Jane Vandenberg's areas of expertise. She’s seen firsthand, how therapeutic these treatments can be for the body and mind after the exertions of grief and trauma or the toxicity of cancer treatments. Her shop and therapy centre provide a safe space to explore the enriching possibilities of well-established Usui/Tibetan Reiki and sound-healing modalities as well as somewhere to find the perfect gift for someone special who might be needing an energetic boost, a responsibly sourced piece of jewellery, guidance cards, books on spirituality, energy crystals or one of her beautiful shawls or scarves.
People need a place to pause for breath in their busy lives and White Lotus invites you to do that. “Rei” means universal and “ki” refers to life-energy in Japanese. ‘Taking time to balance these things can offer relief from grief, anxiety and improve sleep patterns,’ says Jane and ‘finding time for ourselves to work on these areas of our lives is as important as many other daily tasks we take for granted.' At White Lotus you're invited to take that time for yourself.
White Lotus offers alternative therapies that promote positive health and wellbeing and may assist to reduce stress, anxiety, sleeplessness and improve the bodies healing. Therapies include; Traditional Usui/Tibetan Reiki, which works to unblock and realign the body's seven main energy centres, known as chakras and involves the gentle laying of hands on or above the body to facilitate the harmonious flow of energy. Sound Healing is delivered through sound vibration utilising crystal singing bowls, each of which is aligned and tuned to one of the seven main chakras and like Reiki, facilitates the harmonious flow of energies throughout the body.

Young people in Inverleigh and nearby communities are set to enjoy an upgraded recreation and community facility after Council awarded a construction contract for the Inverleigh Active Youth Space at its February meeting.
Council awarded the contract for $2,053,608 to LJM Construction for the project which will upgrade Inverleigh’s Yerram Yaluk Bun Play Space resulting in a vibrant hub for young people. Construction includes a new skate park, pump track, 3x3 basketball courts, seating and shelters, alongside lighting and beautification works.
The Detailed Design phase for this project was successfully completed with significant community input and collaboration.
Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said the Inverleigh Active Youth Space was a major project for the local community which will strengthen community connection.
“This project will provide residents in Inverleigh and the wider community with more opportunities to encourage physical activity, social connection and outdoor play, especially for younger people,” Cr Cunningham said.
“Planning for the Inverleigh Active Youth Space included an extensive community-driven engagement process with community stakeholders, local young people and families. We’re pleased to be able to deliver this purpose-built space for young people in Inverleigh and surrounding towns, and we thank both the Federal Government and the Victorian Government for their funding support.”
Preparation work is expected to commence at the site in March with construction projected to be completed by September 2024.
The $2.3 million partnership project includes design and construction costs and attracted a $700,000 funding commitment from the Australian Government. Council also contributed $150,000 and successfully applied to the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund for $1.48 million to complete funding for this project.

To start with, what is a zine?
A "zine" is all sorts of things, but most often a self published work featuring an interest or passion from the writer/artist/creator. They can be made up of art, story, fan fiction, poetry, comic, humour, protest. alternative media or self revelation. Zines are often made to add unheard voices to the mix and usually not made for a profit. Zines can be swapped, sold, shared or given away.
Last year we held a Zine Fair in Inverleigh and this year we are having another one. Yay!
Saturday July 27th we’ll be back at the Inverleigh Town Hall with support from the Inverleigh Progress Association and the Beyond the Valley Festival.
Last year's Zine Fair was a fabulous day that saw stall holders and visitors to the town from Apollo Bay, Ballarat, Geelong and Melbourne as well as Lethbridge, Teesdale and the Bellarine.
This year we are expecting another amazing time and we would love to make a local zine. This will be a free zine that will be distributed to stall holders and visitors at ZINEverleigh.
If you have artwork, stories, comics, poetry (or something else) that you would be interested in having included in this zine please get in touch at "zineverleigh@gmail.com"
Thanks, Bec Wilson
Welcome to Autumn and the beautiful weather, although it has been dry and we need some rain.
Just a reminder to you all that river water is available for stock and gardens from the Standpipes adjacent to Lawsons Park. Turn to page 55 for the contact details of Murray McMillan who is the Inverleigh Progress Associations go to man for this service. You will need to provide your own container to transport the valuable liquid and a trailer and IBC suit this purpose in most cases.
Works have started on the new Youth Precinct and the contractors have not held back in getting into removal of the old skate board facility. I'm looking forward to seeing the Bike Pump Track and how those with more energy than myself put it to good use. Also I spotted some very creative bicycle modifications recently, rivalling the speed and dexterity of the Penny Farthing of long ago. We done to those creative youngsters and it looks like a real fun way to get around. And to the younger residents of our village, you will have to look a bit harder to find "Maggie" this month. Until next time, stay safe and have fun. PeterT.
If only we all dated photographs. The Inverleigh Historical Society has been gifted many local images but it is rare that any details are attached and so unfortunately the search for clues takes precedence over full understanding of the context. This photo, with the monument and cows grazing in the background, follows our practice of showing a war service image in April for the calendar.
Fortunately the resources of ‘Trove’ come to my rescue again but this time it is the “Ballarat Star” and “The Argus” instead of our old friend the Geelong Advertiser. They give us a description and pinpoint the date.
Ballarat Star, Wednesday 8th June, 1921: “The Inverleigh soldiers’ memorial, the unveiling of which was performed by Major Baird, MC, MLA, the Chief Secretary, is a very handsome monument to the memory of the l9 men of Inverleigh who gave their lives in the great war. The memorial, which is of column and sphere design, is worked out of the renowned Harcourt granite, and is truly proportioned and noble in effect. It covers an area of 6 feet 3 inches and stands over 17 feet high from the ground level. The moulded base containing the dedicatory inscription is approached by granite steps. The bevelled die contains the names of those who paid the supreme sacrifice, and is surmounted by a coulded cap; above the cap is a plinth finely worked, the face of which is relieved with military emblems in bronze, the effect of which is most striking as relieved by the background of cut granite. The column proper is richly polished and carried the laurel wreath of victory in bronze. The column is crowned with a moulded cap and surmounted by a polished sphere. The memorial is protected by

plain bar rails fixed into rustic granite pyramid-top piers, covering an area of 16 feet square……..Erected by the residents of Inverleigh and district.”
The Argus, 30th June, 1921: “The balance sheet of the fallen soldier’s memorial committee at Inverleigh shows the expenditure of £381/5/-, and receipts of £376/4/2, leaving a debit balance of £5/0/10. It was decided to pay this off by 1/- (shilling) subscriptions.”
It was previously known that there was a Patriotic Fund collected in the district to present medallions to all returned servicemen, but it seems this Soldiers’ Monument was a separate fund costing the equivalent of $763 with 10 cent subscription donations to pay off the debt.
The Inverleigh Historical Society welcomes donations of current and past local images, especially those suitable for reprinting in the calendar and providing a story for the Leigh News.
Liz McDonald & TroveThe Inverleigh Historical Society was formed in 2004. It operates under the auspices of the Inverleigh Mechanics Institute and Public Hall Committee.
Our Aims are to collect and preserve items of local historic interest and to promote research and interest in local history. We welcome all donations to our collection or the opportunity to copy material. We are most grateful to the many people who have kept the Historical Society in mind as they sorted through their own collections. We undertake many interesting projects and have enjoyable meetings, which you are welcome to attend.

A Royal Air Force Halifax bomber crashes near a small village in Germany in September 1943: 80 years later, a 15-year-old schoolboy sends parts of the plane to the Pilot's niece in New Zealand.
Alexander Winkelmann is a student and is interested in history. He lives in Lambrecht, a town in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. He is particularly interested in plane crashes in the region, he says. Some time ago, he was told by older Esthal residents that a British bomber had been shot down near Esthal, reports Winkelmann, who is active in the "Arbeitsgruppe Vermisstenforschung". The "Arbeitsgruppe Vermisstenforschung" was founded in 1989 by Uwe Benkel and deals with the recovery of the remains of missing aircrew from the Second World War and the return of personal items, such as identification tags or aircraft parts, to relatives. And indeed: A Handley Page Halifax Mk. II bomber of the British Royal Air Force was hit by a Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4 night fighter near Esthal on the night of September 6, 1943, at 0:47 am.
The British Halifax exploded in the air and the parts of the plane fell to the ground in the region around Esthal. The 15-year-old schoolboy has now sent three of these aircraft parts from Lambrecht (Palatinate) to Naenae in New Zealand. Aircraft parts keep turning up in the forest
Alexander Winkelmann reports that he knows that parts of crashed airplanes are sometimes washed up in the forest by water or dug up by wild boars, of which there are many in the Palatinate Forest. About two years ago, he was looking in the forest near Erfenstein to see if he could find parts of the Halifax that had been shot down. He discovered two wing parts and a cooling water pipe in wild boar holes on the surface, says the 15-year-old. The parts were then initially left at his home in Lambrecht. Among other things, the schoolboy spent a long time organizing an exhibition for the Alte Samenklenge Museum in Elmstein about the crash of a U.S. Air Force reconnaissance plane 35 years ago in the Elmstein-Iggelbach district (16 kilometers from Lambrecht).

bomber that was shot down over Esthal. Six men died in the crash, the Canadian Pilot Officer John Richard Harris survived, was taken prisoner by the Germans and later returned to his home country after the war until 2017.
One of the dead was Australian Pilot Officer Francis Barker Allan, who was just 25 years old at the time of the crash. The 15-year-old was told that his niece Susan Allan-Caulfield lived in Naenae, which is part of the New Zealand town of Lower Hutt. Winkelmann got in touch with the New Zealander via social media.
"The lady was very interested in the airplane parts as a souvenir of her uncle," reports Alexander Winkelmann. In consultation with Uwe Benkel, the founder of the "Missing Persons Research Group", it was decided that the group would cover the shipping costs, as is usual for them.
According to Winkelmann, Benkel built a picture frame from one of the wing parts. He himself created a 30-page documentary about the shooting down of the Halifax, with information about the crew members and photos. All texts in the documentation are in German and English.
Some time ago, Winkelmann says, he discovered a post on Facebook by a Dutch historian called Peter Clermonts about the plane crash near Esthal. He reports that he contacted the historian and asked him if he was interested in photos of the plane parts.
The historian eventually told him that he was in contact with a niece of the Halifax pilot living in New Zealand. Seven aircrew from the British, Canadian, American and Australian Air Force were on board the
Aircraft parts, the picture frame and documentation were packed in a package that Winkelmann brought to the post office in Lambrecht on November 28, 2023. And so at least some mementos of Francis Barker Allan arrived in New Zealand. "The distance between Lambrecht and Naenae is around 18,600 kilometers," Alexander Winkelmann has researched.

Autumn is now half way through and we are experiencing a period of very dry conditions along with some very hot windy days over the last few weeks.
This brings about changes in the fire danger period, and now some things can be burnt under permit conditions, and you will see over the next month smoke from paddock burns and possibly bush land management burns.
Fire restrictions for the general public will be in place for a little longer yet so keep checking the fire restriction signs in the town and the notices in the newspapers for information on when they will be removed.
In the March article I commented on the fire at Beaufort and some of the issues it presented with spot fires coming out of the bush and causing smaller fires to start ahead of the main fire front.
Spot fires are a real problem when fighting a fire as the best fire breaks around a main fire can be breached by embers, bark and leaves that are on fire just floating in the air and being carried across the fire break and starting a new fire on the other side. Usually within a kilometre or so but sometimes further from the main fire front. Then you have fires on both sides and that is very hard to manage.
your fire plan is, and what your abilities are, then you should have pre planned if you are to stay or go.
If you believe you will stay, and your fit and able to defend your property then spot fires are probably what your most likely to encounter.
Luckily, here at Inverleigh we have a good water supply that is available at the river to key holders supplied by the Progress association. There are many people with tanks and pumps who get water from the river pumps and these small trailer units are ideal for dealing with small spot fires that might start on your property. In most cases, people sit and wait for the fire and when hot bits land they can drive up and put water on them and extinguish the fire while it is small.
It is not for everybody and it can get very hot and smokey and if close to bush land it can get quite busy putting out lots of little fires. I have lost count of the amount of small fires that have been put out by trailer units in situations like this and assets saved by having people there getting these fires while they are small. Often CFA units are tied up elsewhere else and these small units have made a huge difference.
So what can we do about this problem? Firstly if your property is prepared for the summer by removing rubbish and long grass, it might be defendable. Depending on what
So the main thing to remember, especially on days like we had on the recent long weekend is to make sure your trailer tank is full of water and the pump works well with a good hose and there is fuel for the pump. Even leave it hooked up to the vehicle so it’s ready. Then you are prepared for whatever might happen.

Just don't say "boomer," or you’ll get the finger.
They reminisce about vinyl and cassettes, Their nostalgia game, is about flares and fishnets They'll regale you with tales of Beatles, protests and LSD And reminisce about the 60’s when love was free
They'll lecture you like seasoned professors, Dipensing advice on how to deal with life's stressors Their knees might creak, their backs might ache, But talk about property and they will awake.
They may ignore Tik Tok, Insta and the Snap Chat craze
Having their own way to spend their days
Opting for friends, grandkids or taking a cruise
For which they have earned the right to choose.
So, let's raise a glass to the baby boomers old, Their many exploits were big, brassy and bold. They may be aging, but they're still pretty bright, Just don't say "boomer” if you know what is right.
Hello all,
Had a recent incident at the Inverleigh primary school overnight on the 16/3/2024 where a male and female aged in their 20’s wandered about the school grounds and entered several rooms. There is video footage of the pair and if it was you or you know who was involved please contact me at the police station as it may save you having your image published in the media and around the township. Please do not be in the school grounds after hours it is not a public place to wander about trying door handles even though on this occasion it appears nothing was taken.
Recently attended a motor vehicle collision in Teesdale involving a local with a high Blood alcohol reading. Please don’t drink and drive, a lot of people I get don’t think they will be caught and are often just driving a short distance.
Recently got a young local probationary driver overtaking on the Hamilton Hwy coming into Inverleigh early on a Sunday morning doing 156 km/h. Car has been impounded at a cost of over $1100. The car was found to be displaying false plates. The driver will face a summons to appear at Geelong Magistrates Court at a later date.
Often when I am pulling vehicles over for speeding while overtaking the driver states ‘But I was overtaking’. It is illegal for a driver to exceed the speed limit while overtaking. Overtaking often puts both the vehicle overtaking and the vehicle being
overtaken and any vehicle approaching in dangerous situations with some drivers not leaving sufficient distance when they approach and when they cut back it. Excessively exceeding the speed limit to try and get around and having to put the foot down to make it can lead to head on collisions or vehicles being run off the road. You often don’t save any real time especially between here and Geelong and end up next to the vehicle you overtook at the next intersection or set of lights.
Recently I had a young driver on route to a rural music festival being the 3rd vehicle to overtake a truck on the Rokewood Shelford Road Shelford take a great risk trying to get past. I was approaching in the marked police vehicle and couldn’t believe he tried to get around with me approaching. His overtaking forced me to brake and move off onto the verge as his car cut back in front of the truck. You don’t really need to guess what happened? $385 fine.
Mixed results for me with the vegetable and fruit growing this summer season at the back of the station, heaps of cherry tomatoes, chillies, squash and few good cucumbers but less zucchini, peaches and passionfruit which a possum is working his way through overnight before I can get to the ripe ones. Anyone with any deterrent tips for the possum please feel free to let me know and I don’t mean the lead one.

Historian, author, researcher, Friends group secretary, plant surveyor and bird lover.
Dianne’s contribution to the Friends group has been remarkable. It began thirty-four years ago in September 1990 as one of the first core group members when the group was first formed. I can remember that she and her husband Bill organised with the Leigh Lions Club to have the many dumped car bodies removed from the Reserve, which was an enormous task.
Dianne partnered with Maryanne Crocker to conduct regular plant surveys in the three exclusion trials that were set up in 1992 to assess the impact of grazing by the Reserve’s large population of Eastern Grey Kangaroos. A few years later this fruitful partnership produced an updated plant species list for the reserve.
A noted historian and researcher, Dianne applied her skills to building the group’s knowledge of the Reserve's long history, from when it was declared a Common/Timber Reserve in the1860s.
In 2011, she published a history of Teesdale ‘From Native Creek to Teesdale: 1837 –1900.'
Dianne’s other passions were local birds and local plants. This was reflected in her many articles in the Friends group’s newsletter (which she edited from 1996) as well as articles in the Leigh News. She would often describe her joyful discoveries of plants and birds on her numerous walks through the Reserve.
For 25 years, Dianne was the minutes secretary of the Friends Group; a role that she filled comfortably and unconventionally, her meticulous record-keeping often being challenged by struggles with her personal computer. It was not uncommon for meetings to begin with an exasperated Dianne declaring, ‘That damned computer!’ and, ‘I can’t find the minutes for the last meeting!’ This was never a problem, as the group’s brains-trust would happily fill in the gaps.
Dianne’s outstanding contribution to the community is well-known and we take this opportunity to say “Thank you” from the Friends of Inverleigh Nature Conservation Reserve.

Council invites Golden Plains Shire community members to share their thoughts and have their say on the updated Disability Action Plan 2025-2029 (the Plan).
Designed as a blueprint for fostering a more inclusive and accessible environment for living, working, and recreation, the Plan outlines key actions aimed at breaking down barriers faced by people with disabilities.
In alignment with the broader vision for Golden Plains Shire, Council is also looking to align the Plan with its Community Vision 2040, Council Plan 2025-2029, Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan 20252029 and the State Disability Action Plan 2022-2026.
Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said a key focus of the Plan was to ensure people with disabilities and their care givers are fully supported to participate in all aspects of community life.
“A truly engaged community is one that creates opportunities and inclusivity for everyone. This updated Disability Action Plan empowers us to establish clear objectives and goals, paving the way for people with disabilities to lead fulfilling and happy lives in Golden Plains Shire now and into the future,” Cr Cunningham said.
Council has been consulting the community through community workshops and the Active, Ageing and Inclusion Advisory Committee throughout March. Community members are also encouraged to contribute to the development of the Disability Action Plan through a Have Your Say survey which opens on Friday 22 March and closes on Thursday 11 April 2024.
The survey can be completed online at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations or hard copies can be collected from Council’s Customer Hubs at 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn or The Well, 19 Hughes Street, Smythesdale.
Hard copies can be returned by email to enquiries@gplains.vic.gov.au or by mail to Golden Plains Shire Council, PO Box 111, Bannockburn, VIC 3331 – marked ‘Attention: Disability Action Plan’.
The updated draft plan will be presented to Council for endorsement in June 2024, followed by further community consultation. Council will then consider the final plan for adoption at its September 2024 meeting.
For further information on the Disability Action Plan, contact Council’s Access and Inclusion Officer on 5220 7111.

Golden Plains Shire Council has again partnered with VicRoads and Hawthorn Community House to deliver another round of the Wiser Driver Program in April.
Wiser Diver is an informative, informal and friendly refresher course to upgrade knowledge and build on experience to help older drivers drive safely.
Topics covered throughout the sessions include: driving today, safety tips for wiser driving, safety rules, car safety features, being roadworthy and planning for the future.
The four Wiser Driver sessions will run each Monday from 1 to 3pm beginning on Monday 8 April and concluding on Monday 29 April. The sessions will be hosted at the Bannockburn Family Services Centre, 2A Pope Street, Bannockburn and all sessions must be attended to complete the program.
Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said the Wiser Driver program was an excellent way for Seniors to refresh their road knowledge and focus on improving their driving skills.
“Wiser Driver is a popular program presented in an informative and welcoming way which really helps senior members of our community with their road safety knowledge,” Cr Cunningham said.
“I encourage seniors from all across the Shire who may feel they need to refresh their road safety knowledge to participate in Wiser Driver and experience an exciting program that promotes safe and responsible driving.” Participants in the program will also receive a range of resources from VicRoads to assist with the course.
To register for the sessions, contact Council’s Active Ageing and Inclusion Team on ageingandinclusion@gplains.vic.gov.au or call 5220 7111.

As the weather starts to cool down we notice damage to trees and evidence of firewood collection in the Reserve. Large mature trees provide habitat value for birds, small mammals and other ground dwelling fauna but historic logging has resulted in fewer larger trees and fewer tree hollows which can contribute to degradation of the entire ecosystem.
The main tree species in the Reserve include River Red Gum and Manna Gum. Other notable species include Golden and Black Wattles, Lightwood and Sheoak. Regular monitoring and compliance is conducted by Parks Victoria to ensure we protect this highly significant flora reserve. There are substantial fines for damaging and removing vegetation under the Crown Land (Reserves) Nature Conservation Reserve Regulations 2004.
If you do require firewood Friends of Bannockburn Bush have a free firewood collection program in the Bannockburn Bushland Reserve in which you can collect a trailer load of good quality Sugar gum in return for two hours work in their coppicing program. For more information contact Secretary Stuart McCallum stuartmccallum@westnet.com.au
Geoff Child from Inverleigh has brought us a mystery item of uncertain origin or purpose.
It has 2 opposing blades (photo 1) one at the top, the other below it at 90 degrees. It also has a hollow section at the other end with a small hole, (photo2) which could be to add a wooden extension handle.
If you know what is, or just make a suggestion as to its purpose, please let me know: Some suggestions so far:
1. a tool for stripping wattle bark from trees for use in tanning.
2. a tool for use with slate tiles for roofing.
3. a tool for citting whale meat.
Please let me know your suggestions.

Golden Plains Shire Council has launched a new and innovative Online Community Directory which provides easyto-find information and assists residents and visitors in engaging with the many local community groups, clubs, services, associations and facilities based in the Shire.
The Online Community Directory features a range of categories and listings for people to search. Eligible groups can also add their own free listing by creating an account at Golden Plains Shire Council’s website. Once approved, groups can independently manage their own listings and update them as needed.
Golden Plains Shire Council Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encouraged eligible groups to join the Online Community Directory and showcase the wide variety of offerings within the region.
“We encourage all community groups, community service organisations, sport and recreation clubs, artists and creatives within Golden Plains Shire to upload a profile to the Golden Plains Shire Online Community Directory so residents and visitors can get in contact with you if they are interested in joining, volunteering or visiting,” Cr Cunningham said.
“Residents and visitors will easily be able to search for local groups of interest using the Online Community Directory through the user-friendly interface and potential residents can assess Golden Plains Shire’s liveability when considering moving to an area within the Shire.”
The Online Community Directory and a user guide with instructions on how to create a community listing are available at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/community-directory
Community organisations, groups, clubs, services, associations, and facilities based in the Golden Plains Shire and surrounding municipalities which may be engaging local residents are welcome to submit a listing. The Community Online Directory welcomes listings from non-commercial entities, with exceptions made for businesses offering cultural or community services including arts businesses, childcare facilities, eco-businesses, education, health, and aged cares services.

Our Junior’s have been exploring the concepts of mass and capacity this term. The sandpit provided the perfect learning environment for their investigations and our pan balances helped students to compare the weight of different object s. So much fun!

Puppies and kittens should have their first vaccination between 6-8 weeks of age.
While a puppy or kitten is with their mother, they are protected from illness through the maternal antibodies they receive through her milk. They are at a higher risk of catching infectious diseases when they are weaned.
The first vaccination is often done with the breeder and puppies are usually microchipped at this time too.
Puppies and kittens who have had their first vaccination at Bannockburn Vet Clinic are provided with their own vaccination/health record card which records all vaccinations, the date they are next due, microchip details and de-sexing procedures.
This card can be used for the life of the pet and is an important record to keep.
If you have a litter requiring vaccinations and microchipping or a new puppy or kitten ready for their next vaccination please contact the clinic on 03 5281 1221 to book an appointment.
Arthritis is a condition that leads to not only pain but also degeneration of the joint. This condition can cause mobility issues, painful joints and poor quality of life. Things such as limping, slowing down on walks, difficulty jumping or being slow to rise can all be signs of arthritis in your dog.
Usually occuring in older, overweight or larger breed dogs its important to remember it can affect dogs of any size, breed or age.
Fortunatly there is a new therapy that can help keep your dog comfortable. Beransa targets and neutralises a protein that stimulates pain in patients with arthritis. Beransa injections can help keep your dog enjoy a good quality for life for as long as possible. You can expect increased mobility and decreased levels of pain.
We run both Puppy Classes and Juvenile Puppy Classes here at Bannockburn Vet Clinic.
Puppy Class is an important part of owning a puppy as it teaches the basics of obedience and socialisation early on.
Juvenile Class is a great option for young dogs who need that extra bit of training or socialisation but are too old for Puppy Class.
Call the clinic on 52811221 for more information or to book into a class today
Beransa is an easy and convenient injection given under the skin once a month and this method removes the need to medicate your dog daily.
If your dog suffers from arthritis and you would like a consultation with one of our vets to discuss Beransa please call the clinic on 03 5281 1221 to book a consultation .

CELEBRATING AN INCREDIBLE michaela.settle@parliament.vic.gov.au
It’s been five years since this Government boosted TAFE with free courses in 2019.
Now in 2024, there are over 80 free TAFE courses available to choose from.
There have been thousands of enrolments in Fed Uni TAFE since the start of the program.
I’ll always back TAFE, because I’ll always back those working in the regions.

If you’re thinking of selling a Rural or Lifestyle acreage property on the Bellarine, the Barwon or beyond then think Peter Lindeman. Peter spent 20 years managing farms before jumping the fence to sell them; and over the last 20 years he’s helped clients achieve extraordinary results, more often than not surpassing their expectations. Why not let Peter show you how he can help you achieve an outstanding result for your property.
