Look book

About the lookbook... In this look book I have added all the patterns I have made that were inspired by my nan’s things, I have done them in the style of minimalism The original patterns are on a double page next to some writing about them and the photo that inspired them, I have also named the patterns. On the next double page are the other patterns that are different colours so that it is part of a small collection.

All the patterns are only a section of what would be the whole design, if it was to be used commercially then the pattern would be bigger and repeat itself and hopefully, they would join together nicely. The majority of the patterns would be used in textiles and wallpaper but it is possible for some of them to be used in fashion. I dedicate this to her x

Sapphire Necklace For this pattern I was inspired by the sapphire necklace my nan bought me when I was a baby but I was only allowed to have it once I turned 18, as it is so special. I decided to focus on the shape of the gem and the part that connects it to the chain.

I tried to make it a repeat pattern so that once it’s on a larger scale it will all connect nicely. idealy used in textiles such as bags, bedding and curtains but it could also be used as wallpaper.

This pattern was inspired by the design on the cardigan, my nan would wear this cardigan almost every day. I used that same colour scheme as the cardigan to make it obvious that it was based on it.

I think that it turned out well and it might even be my favourite pattern. I see this pattern being used on different textiles such as pillows and bedding, I don’t think it would be good for wallpaper but it mostly depends on the person.

Ete rnit y Rin g Inspired by my nan’s eternity ring, I used the shapes within the ring and also the colours. I tried to get it as close to the colours as I could but it is harder when the object is shiny, however I think that the colours go well together and still made for a good pattern.

I could see this pattern being used in textiles such as bags, pillows and bedding. I think that it could be used in fashion if the pattern was altered so that the design is on a bigger scale, it could be nice on tops or a dress.

Altered Cardigan

An altered version of the cardigan pattern where I focused on one part of the design to create a different look. Both patterns are similar but it is easy to tell them apart. Much like the cardigan pattern this would be ideal for textiles; bedding, pillows or even bags.

“J” for Joanie Inspired by her “J” necklace that she would wear every day, stands for Joanie which she was known as. To separate the pattern a bit I changed the direction of the “J” which I think made it better.

Wouldn’t be used in fashion but I could see it being used in textiles such as bags, pillows and bedding. Could be used to personalise something for someone with a name beginning with “J”.
