ip-hop fans who enjoy great lyrics need to check out ‘Brilliant Rappers Educate Intelligent Students’, a new rap lyric book by London hip-hop MC and education creative consultant Breis. Aimed at improving the literacy skills of children aged 10 and upwards this
remarkable collection of rhymes is full of descriptive, humorous and captivating experiences that everybody can relate to. It also features the inspiration behind the rhymes and some of the lyrics are in Yoruba and Pidgin English (Nigeria). Breis (pronounced breeze) has also included simple
activities to keep readers engaged, inspired and to help them create their own rhymes. Breis, a seasoned and gifted lyricist himself, aims to encourage the young to think big as well as get boys reading more. “Young boys are not always motivated to read but a lot of them love rap music. Rap is the modern language of the youth and this book is designed to give a sense of how language can be used in a cool and intelligent way, says BREIS. With a massive following on the hip hop circuit Breis also has an album due out sometime this year promising to be funny, hard-hitting and insightful.

Gideon, star of popular BBC sketch show ‘The Real McCoy’, is back with her one woman show “The Best of Little Big Woman, a rip-roaring collection of sketches featuring some of the characters that have made her famous, This hilarious comedy show is a combination of Gideon’s hit BBC Radio 4 series ‘The Little Big Woman’ and her highly successful stage shows that has previously been on at the Oval House and The Drum in Birmingham. Taking a satirical look at the lives and experiences of women in London, Gideon fans will be pleased to hear that her signature characters; Mrs. Henry, the office cleaner and Cynthia Cynical will be on the stage alongside my personal favourite Hortense Pretentious. Gideon began her career in
1989 as an original cast member and writer for the BBC television comedy sketch show ‘The Real McCoy’ followed by a string of television comedy appearances including ‘Murder Most Horrid’, ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ and ‘The Lenny Henry Show’. Llewella also wrote and performed in a variety of radio shows for the BBC, in particular ‘The Airport’ and ‘The Emerald Green Show’. Her voice is also heard as several characters in the animation ‘Bob the Builder’ and she also wrote episodes for CBBC’s ‘Kerching’.
Catch ‘The little Big Woman’ in her totally honest, totally hilarious, totally amazing one-woman show by booking early for a guaranteed fun night out! Showing at Broadway Theatre Catford. 24th September. Call: 0208 690 0002. www.littlebigwoman.com

This month my schedule has gone mad! But after taking time out of the music biz, I’m back in the saddle. In a short space of time things have changed, it’s scary. But, I’ve managed to get a gig this month, as well as see my mates perform. Now, how do I look? I’m no Lady GaGa, but nothing is worse than a singer who looks like their trying too hard and sporting scuffed shoes – now where’s the shoe polish. Award for “Achievement through the Arts, commissioned to write poems for the Damilola Taylor Trust, National Portrait Gallery, Tate Britain to name a few, Dean Atta is not resting on his laurels. Featured on TV, radio and online platforms, such as BBC 1Xtra, BBC Radio 4, Channel 4 and many more; this rapper, play write, poet, artist is taking London by storm. Invited to perform everywhere from the Roundhouse to City Hall, Hackney Empire to the Houses of Parliament, his words know, no limits and he definitely has a lot to say and with so much passion and conviction it’s almost palpable. Not only is Dean Atta credited for his sensational way with words but he is also recognised as one of the first gay rappers who openly tackles this challenging subject. Dean features in an hour long on-line documentary for SB.TV exploring whether the world of Hip – Hop is ready to accept homosexuality in its masculine world.
When asked if the music industry and fans are ready for a gay rapper Dean had this to say, “I think they need to get ready! If it’s not me, then it will be someone else, and very soon. Hopefully a young aspiring gay rapper will hear this documentary and decide they will be brave enough to be open about their sexuality, or maybe even established rapper might decide to come out. The world has never been more ready for this than right now. B-HYPE
B-Hype is a creative song writer, MC and producer from South London who has been carefully crafting his art since 2002. What separates B-hype from many other UK artists is an ability to carry his original vision for a project such as song writing, by choosing appropriate features, then finally engineering the tracks to ensure the outcome is exactly as he had initially visioned. With the influence of his father, a reggae artist - his soon to be released mixtape ‘One Step At A Time’, shows something of the breadth of his talent. www.Soundcloud.com/b-hype_uk, www.myspace.com/bhypeuk
